And I cannot wait to come back with more friends and family to rave about how great this new concept of Ddeokbokki is! It's a Chipotle-Style of ordering. You go up to the window to tell the staff all of the toppings you'd like in your bowl (rice cakes, vegetables, noodles, sauce, etc). You can choose the flavor and spice level of your ddeokbokki. The Regular size can comfortably feed 2-3 people. My date and I were stuffed and had leftovers from the Regular size. The food was delicious. The corn-cheese filled rice cake balls were my favorite. My bf's favorite was the Snowing Cheese Chicken!! The place was clean and had lots of space for many other parties. The Kpop music is a staple, it plays loud though. really enjoyed this new spot! came on their grand opening so we waited an hour but that's expected for the opening. very cute and big store with a lot of seating! rena was an amazing server who was super sweet and efficient! she seemed very attentive to the tables and helped us right away with anything we needed! some constructive criticism... most of their male servers were not the most professional. i had high expectations for the service because it was the grand opening, but we were obviously seated next to some of male servers friends and every 2 minutes there was a server chatting with that table instead of serving other guests. just something i noticed but i definitely still had a great experience here! the build your own tteokbokki comes in 2 sizes, regular & large!! it's not weighed by the pound which is what i expected! the regular can feed 3-4 in my opinion! the server was very helpful with explaining the options and how we order the tteokbokki! we got the rose sauce and it was DELICIOUS and not spicy which is perfect for me. the fish skewers are extremely worth it for 99 cents a piece! the chicken was also super yummy and i'm excited to try other flavors! read more

And as for taste, I got their regular sauce and it brought memories of when I was a kid eating ddoboki in Korea. So happy to share that with my daughter. I also liked the bowls they give us to use. So you take a sit then you go to front to order... you tell the worker what you want from which Rice cake and vegetables and other sides. I'm so excited that they open a dookki in Cali, always wanted to try it. I was expecting all you can eat like in most other places. But this was good too. The services was really nice and attentive. We came at a good time so the wait wasnt too bad, they have option to text you when your table is ready. You can walk around the plaza (target, Ross, Barnes &Noble, etc) My friend and I got the regular size with the best dookki sauce (spiciest they have) and friend chicken. We eat pretty spicy and this was the perfect level for us (bit less spicy then fire noodle) not too overwhelming maybe will for some people. We will definitely come back when we crave rice cake. On side note: it's prob just funny to us but I would recommend having smaller Togo boxes for leftover. They were huge lmao. Also it would be nice to serve some ice water. Went on the waitlist around 5:22 and got seated after 45 minutes. The wait wasn't so bad, but the entire process was extremely messy. We got up to order and there was only one person at the ordering station so it took a while for them to get to us. We ordered a tteokbokki, a pouring cheese, soy garlic chicken and two drinks. First, the pouring cheese did not come with our tteokbokki, we ultimately had to cancel it. The soy garlic chicken was also forgotten about and at this point we'd been sitting down for maybe 40 minutes. We decided to just wait for it since we had nowhere else to be but there were a few workers scattering around. They forgot to bring us water like three times. It's clear they're severely understaffed and ill-equipped to handle such a crowd. The food was ok, but it's extremely uncomfortable, messy, and like half of our order was forgotten about. Lol. At this price point, I expect better service. Won't be coming back unfortunately. read more

Worth the Wait We waited about 1 hour and 30 minutes for a table at Dookii, and honestly - it was completely worth it. The staff was incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive the whole time, which made the experience even better. We went with the rosé sauce for our tteokbokki, and it was the perfect level of spicy for us. We ordered the Regular, Cheese, and Cheese Corn tteokbokki, all delicious, but the Cheese tteokbokki was definitely my favorite, followed by the Regular. The Cheese Corn was good too, just more of a sweet-savory combo. For add-ins, we got some bok choy, green onion, enoki mushrooms, cabbage, and sausages. All the veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly in the sauce. The sausages were just okay, just like a mini hot dog (so I'll probably skip them next time). Also got ramen noodles, which were a perfect addition. We also tried the garlic butter fries which were super tasty, though a bit smaller in portion size compared to everything else. Still worth getting. And finally we got the boneless K fried chicken thighs. Moist, flavorful, and the crunch on the outside was perfection. Great contrast to the soft and chewy tteok. Dookki definitely deserves all the hype it gets. It seems to be quite busy even on a random Tuesday, but that's good. We spontaneously came here and were able to get a table for 5 in about 20 minutes. After being seated, you go to the front and the food comes out family style. You can choose a lot of different topping to add to your tteokbokki, so its great for multiple people. They also have a few flavors of fried chicken to choose from. We tried the soy garlic and the yangnyeum. Both were great, the soy garlic was a bit light on the flavor but still delicious. Staff is definitely very friendly. I must iterate this review does not reflect their food AT ALL. Meal was delicious ordered the Tteokbokki and Chicken for 3 combo. Downside being attentiveness and poor communication. Had two very kind "imo-nims" serve us but they didn't verify that our chicken we ordered was delivered to us. Instead I was told it went to the wrong table and we were offered an order of Yang-yeom Chicken instead. We declined and said we will wait for our Soy Garlic Chicken, like we ordered. As an act of apologies, they gave us another round of drinks. That was definitely a kindness. However this next act caught us off guard. The off putting part was that our chicken we waited for was then delivered to us in a to go container by a completely different server. No where in our conversation did we say we will take it to go. Many people think this is all about fish, and its so far from the truth its actually funny. I cant even describe Teokbokki. What I can describe is how great this place is, from the setting and decor, to the service which, I have to admit need a tad bit of improvement: you should charge FIRST before u order the food u want, so u can get ur number and place it on the table, and then proceed to build ur teokbokki with a ticket system if u may. The way how u have to sit first, leave ur stuff on the table (unnatended if both people want to go to the topping station and choose) is very unorganized IMO. This is not South Korea no matter how much u wish it was, and people COULD steal ur bag if u just leave it there.
