Was there for the 1st time late last night. Not likely I will return. The donut was stale. That was ok, since we came after 11pm. So I ask the lady politely, "when do you guys usually have fresh donuts?" Her response " I dont know. I only sell donuts I dont make them." Great donuts here, especially their blueberry donuts, and this places stays open late which makes it one of the only ones in the area that does that. However, the 3 star ratings comes from their service. Every time I have gone there has been a very grumpy and rude woman who works the counter. Big turn off. Good donuts though! read more

Idk why everyone says the lady at the counter is rude. She's always been nice to my boyfriend and I. The donut place by my house closed early on a Sunday so I noticed Donut Star was open 24/7 which is awesome for random donut cravings. They are very friendly here and the donuts are reasonably priced. They are also huge donuts. Ordered old fashioned donuts and they had a thick chocolate layer on top, and were very fresh. I am livid after leaving here. I am unable to wear a mask over my ears, so I hold it up across both my nose and face. The older lady told me I had to put it over my ears. I told her I'm unable to due to medical reasons and she wouldn't sell me a donut. I then proceeded to point to the man in the back MAKING the donuts with NO MASK on over his mouth or nose! Wanted just one donut. Waited in line then placed my order. At the register I gave the employee my debit card, but she said I had to spend over $5 in order to use a debit card. I got my wallet out, put my card away, and pulled out the only cash I had - a $20 bill. She told me she didn't have change for a 20???? I came here and realized the finesse was real. Smh. Came in wanting only 3 donuts but when I gave them my card, they told me that "there is a $5 minimum purchase for cards." If you don't have cash and are craving only a minimal amount 3 or less donuts then DO NOT COME HERE. If you do end up takin the bait and spending at least $5 dollars b/c you're already there you also lost. Because by the time you pick the extra donuts you want to reach the $5 mark your price is gonna be welllll above $7 at minimum. Don't assume that the donuts in the case are fresh, because my experience has proven that they're usually not. Bought several of their specialty donuts with cereal toppings and the cereal and donut itself was extremely stale...and they charge $2-$2.50 for each, which is very overpriced compared to other donut shops in the same area. If you're going to sell day (more accurately, several day) old donuts, you shouldn't charge full price and you should disclose that to your customers. At $2/ea that sucker better melt in my mouth. The quality was so poor that my toddler wouldn't even touch it, when usually she devours anything that's sugary. I'd pass on this place and head up the street to K&M or Jax on Imperial. read more

Second time I got donuts here and the quality is consistently bad. Well first off we all know donuts taste best when freshly made so when you have a a 24 hour donuts shop who's knows how long those donuts been sitting out. So to make my point I bought 1 chocolate bar 1 glaze twist both were cold and you can tell they were probably sitting out for 24 hours. The sugar on the glaze twist tasted funny . Open 24 hours hence my 2 stars. Give credit for a place that provides an option for folks in PYL area. But that could also be the problem. Here on a sat at 1030a because kids want donuts on the way to an appt. there were a lot of options Bought 4 donuts: An old fashioned glazed - soft inside with some crunch on outside - flavor was flat and somewhat dry. Weird aftertaste. This is my goto and judge. Definitely NOT a repeat. Apple donut - not fritter- all you taste is oil! Wife spit it out and I did the same. See the apple chunks but nothing but oil! What else can you expect from a 24 hour donut place? Donuts, coffee, juice, milk and croissants. I wanted something for breakfast, something quick and was tired of fast food McDonald's and Jack... So I remembered this place, hey its around the block from where I live and I was kinda in a time crunch. Wide selection of Donuts from your fattening glaze to your sweet chocolate/maple twisty thingys (ok, so I dont know the name) They also have ham and cheese croissants, and egg and sausage croissants, just to name a few. I ordered me an egg and sausage, ham and cheese croissants, large coffee and a choco milk. Together came out to just above $10. (it was not all for me, I swear, cross my heart...) Service was great, very friendly and even offered to warm up my sandwiches. She even made room for the creamer, that I didn't need but when she found out no cream, she offered to top it off for me. Awesome service! Egg and sausage croissant was good. Very filling, I couldn't even it all and had the right amount of cheese. HAIRS WITH DUST STUCK TO IT BAKED IN MY DONUT! Literally that's what happened. I ordered four donuts and while I was walking out I ripped off a piece of the donut on top. I felt something stuck to the other half and tugged it and knew right away it was a hair. The piece of hair that was in the ripped part of the donut was small like an arm hair. Then I looked in the rest of the donut and there were three hairs with pieces of dust on the hair baked into the donut. It looked like someone had swept a dusty floor and some of the hairs and dust from that somehow got baked into a donut. My boyfriend went back inside and asked for another one. They said "sorry", but didn't really care and gave us another donut. This is so foul and gross I will never ever go back here again, which sucks because they used to be my go to, cheap, 24 hour donut place. They are open 24/7 which is great! They only take cash, so just make sure you have some on you. The employees here are always ready to help and wait patiently while my 4 year old decides which donut he wants. They always have a smile on their face too. An added bonus is they are right next to a Starbucks so you can go grab a cheap donut and a coffee. No matter what time of the day I show up here the people working are extremely kind. They are patient, maintain a VERY clean shop, and offer free smiles. What is nice about this place is that you can quench your thirst, settle your need for cigs, calm your sweet tooth, and maybe become a millionaire (lottery tickets) all in one place. How convenient, right!? This place has one of the best apple fritters around. B&B, Miss Donut, and here are the top three in my opinion. The fritters are: large, perfectly glazed, sweet, maintains a super soft inside while still having a nice sweet shell on the outside. I know, I know, you do need to go get one. Eclairs here are also pretty good. Say what? Yes siree, they serve eclairs here. Nothing wrong with a diverse menu. Just make sure you take a look at it first. If it looks dry don't get it. Their glazed are also perfectly sweet and fluffy, all the while not too much to sit in your gut and make you feel guilty. I do admit, I need to try more of what they have to offer.
