I ordered some flooring and installation through Don's, they had done part of the house we are in before we bought last year. I paid my deposit with my debit card since I had the extra cash. I planned on using a credit card for the balance.
The 1st issue we had was with the communication. Our rep, April, never communicated the start time for the installation. After a few calls a few days prior - I finally got a time, between 9 and 11 start time, finish in one day.
The second issue we had was with the installation. On the day of, I called around 10:30 asking if the guy is still coming and they had no idea what I was talking about. They called me back around 11:30 and said he is on his way and should be there around noon.
They sent me an invoice a couple days later, then texted me, and everything asking if I could pay that day. I told them no problem I would do so before the end of the day. I did call them later that day and gave them my credit card number to charge the balance.
Now we get to the third issue, and an important one! BEWARE!!! They are not PCI compliant, meaning they keep full credit card numbers on file along with all the information necessary to charge your card again. They can be fined up to $250,000 for this.
How do I know this? Because they charged my debit card, not my credit card. The receipt shows it was a manual transaction. This means they had to enter the entire card number, code on the back, exp date, etc. manually.
They didn't even charge my cc.
My fourth and last issue is that when I called to inquire about it they referred me to Jennifer (accounts payable?) and she confirmed they processed the refund which is still not showing up on my account yet, but I'll give it another day. However, she was rude and dismissive when I asked to talk to the manager and let him know that his employees are violating PCI compliant laws. (How do I know about PCI compliance? I do work as a Merchant Processor and ensure all my clients are PCI compliant.)
We'll see if Don calls me back and what kind of character he has. Is he a man of integrity? Or not? read more
