The best food we had in Cozumel! A hidden stand with a few tables for eating, there is plenty of parking if not within walking distance. The menu offers tacos, sopes, and tortas with your choice of meats. The beef tacos were my favorite, and hands down the best taco of my life. We only got to eat here one day as they are closed on Sundays. Do not miss this while in Cozumel!!

The food is amazing! This little roadside stand is where you go for authentic Mexican food. We were able to walk from our resort for a great meal. Service with a smile at a family run business with a great atmosphere. It's so easy to find. Just look for the cell tower. When you visit Cozumel this place must be on your radar!

Amazing authentic food right down the street from the Secrets Resort. We stayed there and went to this place twice because it was so delicious. Tried all the tacos and a sopa, but they have tortas also and some breakfast items. The tacos were our favorite, the steak and chicken but both pork variations (pork chop and carne Asada) were good as well. The meat was marinated well and so flavorful, with cheese on top and red onion (we opted for no avocado). We ordered a ton of food and each time it was a little under $20USD. Cash only and they were very friendly and nice. Now let's talk about the sauces....they give you a carafe with all 3-red, green and an even hotter red one with Chile peppers in it. loved them all and still can't decide which is my favorite. Would travel back to this place my next time in Cozumel even if it wasn't by my resort. It's apparent many locals stop here and tourists alike as a popular lunch spot.

The food was absolutely amazing. 10/10 would recommend. You order at the counter, sit and eat, and then pay for your meal. They have sodas and waters in a cooler by the counter. Their hot sauce is great, but very spicy so be careful.

We visited Dona Chelys several times during our 2 1/2 week vacation. The food is great and the prices even better! Four of us ate lunch for less than $20. My favorite was the chicken and pork tacos. My husband and friends enjoyed the sopas.

Based on you tube and trip advisor we traveled here for lunch, worth the drive ! Filling. Relaxed. Nice people. Unique tastes such as the Sope. Full of local people and some in the resorts need by. Worth it. Will be back for tacos next time on fresh tortillas. 9$ US for two drinks. And two medium sopes. Can't beat

Excellent fresh food and great service!

After seeing the great reviews here, we schlepped a couple extra blocks (despite a bit of rain) to visit for lunch. Well worth it. We liked Colores y Sabores so much that we returned on another day. Equally fantastic. The Margaritas (I got Mango) are great. Don't ask for frozen mango margarita because, although they will do it, it lessens the flavor of the fresh mango. Tried it both ways, so I can say for sure, lol. The Beans are something you do not want to miss. Something special about them here. The guacamole and pico de Gallo and chips are the way you'd hope: fresh, crunchy, not greasy and just enough pop. Enchiladas are fantastic - and there are three options for how you can get it. The Mole is outstanding - a little smoky, tons of rich flavor. I rarely order fajitas - but I wanted to go simple one day. Perfect. Tender chicken, and caramelized onions and peppers. Try corn or flour tortillas -- or both, like I did. Another day, I tried the tortilla soup and loved it. Soothing, simple, with strips of chicken and crunchy tortilla. We also got the chicken tacos, which were great. 3, with beans and guacamole on corn tortillas. Our fave, though, was the Chile Relleno. Heavenly. Ground beef stuffed inside and this dish was as satisfying and delicious as anything we encountered on the trip. The Carrot Cake! Definitely recommend that, too. Just sweet enough, and homemade.

The tacos were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and served hot and fresh every time. You can taste the quality and the technique especially in the way the meat is cooked and carved. Everything felt simple but done right, which honestly is what makes a taco stand out. The atmosphere is lively and busy (for good reason), but service moves quickly and efficiently. It feels like the kind of place locals actually eat at, not just a tourist trap with hype. We fully intended to try different taco spots around Playa del Carmen... but after our first visit, we couldn't resist coming back. When a place makes you change your food itinerary, you know it's worth it. If you're in Playa and debating whether it lives up to the hype it does!!

Lanterns hang from the trees casting a warm amber glow, everything feels soft and intimate, and a live band playing low-key jazz ties it all together. It's cozy, a little romantic, and honestly one of the better dining atmospheres on the island. Hard to say how it translates during the day, but at night, it works. The Food The food holds its own, even if the setting gets most of the attention. By Cozumel standards, it's some of the better food we had on the island. The menu leans creative but still approachable. We tried a bit of everything. The Mexican dumplings were fine. Not bad, not memorable. The trio of guacamoles was a hit, especially the one with fruit and bacon, which sounds questionable but works really well. The queso was exactly what you expect. Good, comforting, not trying to reinvent anything. The standout surprise was the tortillas. Freshly made and easily one of the best parts of the meal. They elevated everything they touched. The meat tacos were also very solid, well-seasoned and satisfying. Dessert was the house specialty, a cornbread-based dish with ice cream and toppings. Don't remember the name, but I remember finishing it, which says enough. Service Service was good across the board. Friendly, efficient, nothing over the top but nothing missing either. Overall Kondesa is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone, but the food makes sure it's not just a pretty place. Come for dinner, take your time, and enjoy the setting. It's one of those meals where the environment does half the work and the food handles the rest.

We walked up to the restaurant when heading back to our room to have one large group being escorted in for dinner, so we asked the Headwaiter Nathander if there was any availability, since we didn't make reservations.
