How many wonderful things can I saw about Valdonica?…read more
Rooms-
My husband and I slept comfortably in wonderfully plush blankets and pillows. Valdonica loves local and green- the walls are made of recycled wine barrels, all their foods and products are bought from local sellers, and everything is solar powered. Because we visited during off season, we stayed in one of the rooms of the main building (as opposed to the villas closer to the vineyards) and were the only ones there for the 2 nights we stayed. The main building houses the manager's office, kitchen, and winery in addition to the rooms.
Manager-
A wonderful man whose company my husband and I enjoyed very much during our stay! He is not just helpful and informative, we felt like we made a new friend (story-telling + tours + wine = new best friend, pretty much). We learned a lot about the winery, the local villages and nearby restaurants from him as well.
Amenities-
Free breakfast was delicious. I especially enjoyed the different jams and honey they make at Valdonica (they sell these there as well). Bathrooms include hair dryer, shampoo, body wash, soap, bathrobe, bath slippers, towels. I will note that the free wifi worked best in the kitchen/dining area and not as well in the bedroom but who needs wifi in the bedroom during your honeymoon....amiright?
Winery&Vineyard-
We hiked the trail that they have set out and enjoyed every minute of it. The view is breathtaking. Their vineyard produces some amazing wines. Our favorites were Mersino white and Saragio red.
We loved our experience at Valdonica (and love is a strong word). We specifically came here to clear our heads and have a peaceful and relaxing finish to our honeymoon. We got that and more. Thanks Valdonica!
