We found one that matched our style and size right away, the kids melted into it and we all agreed it was extremely comfortable with nice soft fabric. Amber was working that day, and she was very helpful in answering all our questions. Prices were marked 50% off, and while it seemed good, I do not always trust "huge markdowns" like this. It looked and felt like great quality, but we kept shopping around. For the rest of the day, we went to every other furniture store we could find within 50 miles, sat on more couches than I can remember, and were amazed at how uncomfortable so many of them were. In the end, we all agreed that first sectional we found at Big Lots was the clear winner, so I picked it up the next day. It was my first purchase there so I was able to get another 15% off, so while I was waiting for them to get it ready to load up, I looked around and ended up getting a bunch of stocking stuffers, a few Christmas gifts and a bunch of groceries. We also opted to get the insurance that will cover any accidental stains or damage for 3 years, even though there is a manufacture warranty as well. All the workers were respectful and most were even cheerful. I used the bathroom which I don't think was intended to be a public restroom, but it was clean and did the job. In total, I spent under half what most of the other couches cost, and that included the extended insurance and about $250 worth of gifts and groceries.

I was at the checkout and I was going to pay with my credit card, no problem there right? Wrong! The card reader has the security chip option activated and my card is a chip card. The reader constantly asked for a PIN number, my credit card does not have a PIN! I tell the girl that it's a credit card and not a debit card , she just gives me a dumb stare and says "doesn't it give you an option?" The girl working the register says for me to try it again and of course it again demands a PIN. She says "don't you have a non chip card or cash?" Unfortunately I don't! She flat out refused to call the manager to correct the issue or someone who knew how to actually work the card reader. All she would do is say "that's just how our machines work!" Umm, no that's not how they work! I was treated like garbage for not having a non chip card or cash on hand! Big lots, you have lost yourself a loyal customer thanks to your rude employee.

Every time I go in, it's a different cashier, and it's ALWAYS something. They are super rude, complain about having to come in so early (at 11), etc. This instance, I purchased a few mugs for gifts and she tossed them into a plastic bag like they were made out of cardboard. I asked her for paper to wrap them in to help them from clinking together and breaking. She angrily started grabbing their ads from the display counter, ever so slowly. As much as I complain about their attitudes, shame On DG for allowing them to get away with acting this way. They could scold them, or even train them properly, but I doubt that's high on their list of priorities.

This store is a disgrace to the discount dollar stores. The Dollar General website indicated it had…read moreface masks in stock. Other stores within a 25 mile radius were all out. Driving to the store I found no face masks. The manager on duty said you can't trust the company "in stock" numbers as they are never updated. I could see why as the shelves were a mess. Some of the products in the health dept. were out of date as well as the bread I bought. The store badly needed sweeping and cleaning. Dollar General maintains a huge distribution center in Janesville. I'm staying away from that store! I will say the staff was kind.
