For your Safety do Not Shop at this Store…read more I stopped by Dollar General to get a snack. On the front door is a sign requiring customers to wear masks. I wear agree and wear a mask anytime I am in public or around other people. I found a package of cookies to purchase. I went to checkout and the female customer representative was not wearing a mask nor was the male employee behind her wearing one. I asked her why were customers required to wear a mask and the employees did not? She told they did not enforce the requirements for customers and employees had the same rights to not wear a mask. I recently had cancer surgery and this store is convenient but I will not return if it is your companies policy to not value the health and safety of its customers. I have attached a copy of my receipt so anyone from Dollar General can trace this back to the employees involved.

Not that it's a whole lot larger than other locations but it doesn't have as much merchandise stuffed into it so the aisles are spacious and pleasant to through. It's easy to see the merchandise and you're not swamped with overload of choices either. I had been looking for a heel rasp in a variety of stores for several months, one like the guy in a nail salon in Arizona had used on my heels when I got a pedicure there. I was very impressed with it and thought, I've got to get myself one of those. I hadn't found one anywhere until I came into this store and they not only had one but it was a beautiful violet color, my favorite. It wasn't cheap but I figured if it works it would be worth spending twice as much as I had expected to. The clerks were very nice, although one kind of treated me like I was a little dense for running my card through the machine as soon as she told me the total, as if I would know that with that machine I was supposed to wait until I was told to run the card through. How would I know that when I am used to most machines expecting me to slide my card as soon as I was given the total?. I was surprised to see three or four clerks in there when there didn't seem to be that many customers that would need need help. I found some nail decals I liked also but I thought the sign said they were 50% off. When I walked past that display the second time I realized it said if you buy one at regular price it is 50% off the second one and that made it a little more than I wanted to pay, just because I'm thrifty. So I passed on those and got a couple of their smaller inexpensive nail polishes instead. Even they were more than they used to be but then again prices go up, not down. They were on a rack that used to be $0.99 each but now they are $1.59 each. If you go to Sally's frequently I'm sure it would be worth it to get their discount card. It used to be $5 if it hasn't gone up. I go so seldom it wouldn't be worth it to pay the money for the discount.

The employees were very friendly both times I was here. I didn't particular need any help finding anything because I know the store fairly well. I thought of something I forgot to look for the first time I came in so and I found myself driving past the store again later in the day I stopped in to check it out. Even though it was reasonably priced it was still more than I wanted to pay knowing that they are cheaper at Ikea and the dollar store when they have them. I ended up finding some cute butterfly stickers instead, lol. So I still left happy.

If someone came in in a wheelchair there's no way they would be able to navigate. Their prices are always higher than the Dollar Tree even for the same items. I don't even know why they use the name Dollar General because most of their stuff is over a dollar, much of it is way over a dollar. The clerk was very nice and they had what I was looking for, plain white file cards for cheap and a couple of black markers. It will never be my first choice to shop but it's handy that there are so many of them around if you can't find what you're looking for elsewhere.

Speaking of Michael's, that's where I was when I heard of this place. I was looking for a purple fine Sharpie marker which Michael's used to carry, as did Walmart and some of the office supply stores. I had already checked at Walmart with no luck and they no longer sold the separate markers at Michaels either. Fortunately I asked the young man at the cashier counter about it and he suggested I try Mardels next door. I walked in and looked around for a little bit, then asked the clerk if they had a pens and pencils or stationery supplies section. She pointed me to the section with the pens and pencils and lo and behold there were the separate markers on the bottom shelf. I not only found the purple Sharpie I was wanting for $1.69 but also a lavender highlighter which for some reason are getting harder to find, and another purple pen that I really liked, plus a fine black permanent marker by Le Pen that I have bought before, usually at Hobby Lobby, but didn't have with me on my trip. I I spent about $8 and left happy that I had found what I was looking for. Aside from the pens they have tons of books and movies and all kinds of Christian oriented merchandise. The clerk's were very helpful and cheerful. It was a great find.

They aren't all different from one another but they are all different from JoAnn's and Michael's so I enjoy the change. I stopped by this one a couple of times. It is VERY big and my feet hurt by the time I leave there. But I'm still glad I went in because I always find things in here that the stores near me don't have.

I'm a firm believer that people should be helpful to other people even if they're not going to make a dime on it. It creates good PR. He told me all the boxes had been taken out back but there wasn't a single box behind the store after I drove around there to look. I'm not mad that he didn't have a box, just that he had such an uncaring attitude toward a potential customer. I shop in discount stores almost exclusively but I'm not likely to go back to a place that doesn't make me feel valued.
