First off the parking lot is dirty, which is surprising because this is a somewhat rural location. Inside the building was aged, like a 1970's Acme. Prices were obnoxious, like double what I would pay at a regular grocer back home (ie; Giant for comparison). The isles were tight and little to no safety measures were in place for Covid. It was crowded, I believe by default, because these citizens have no where else to shop. I scoured all the isles looking for a good deal, or even an average price and found nothing and limited brands and products. Overall the store was dated and felt unkept and dirty. What I like about this Walmart vs. the Bloomsburg Walmart, is this store seems to have a better and more frequently restocked selection of items. The selection of items in the freezer section stands out. Where this Walmart loses out is due to being in a high theft area, a significant number of items are behind glass or locked up in some form. If a store does this, they need to have employees available at all times to come and get the items unlocked. This store does not seem to have those employees in the evenings to pull this off based on the roughly 10 minutes wait I had on a Friday evening. I left without the item. The self-checkout systems here are not as user friendly as other's I've seen, and the area to use them is constrained in space on the grocery side. This is also probably due to theft issues. Overall, I do like coming to this Walmart despite it being out of my way for the better selection compared to the Bloomsburg store.

Store is located just outside of Northumberland on Route 11, immediately next to the American Legion. Parking lot can get tight if the store is busy and it's built on a downhill slope, so unattended shopping carts can roll away. What will you find product wise? A decent fresh fruit/vegetable section. Frozen food section with a lot of discontinued products. Tons of canned good including bulk #10 cans. This location off season sells various fountain fireworks. They also have small kids toy selection. Compared to the Berwick store, this one feels like it has less stock in general. Why I knock a few stars off is you need to check expiration dates on EVERYTHING. No exceptions and at this store they are less well marked on items like cereal. Toiletries and other general pharmacy items are not competitively priced. Paper products have about the same quality as generic items at Dollar General (not great.) Overall, I like Surplus Outlet, and it's worth stopping in to see what they have.

The store is spacious for a discount grocer and had a large section of beauty and health products, more so than others. Many were damaged packaging or expired but that's to be expected. What I didn't expect was such a large and impressive freezer and produce section. Had I had more room in our travel trailer camper I would have bought a ton more! Prices were low and the selection was very broad and fully stocked. Ditto for the produce which looked to be in very good condition and not "seconds". Since discount grocers tend to carry discontinued products I did find several items I'll probably never find again, but at least I enjoyed them once! The staff on the floor was also helpful in directing me to the dept I was looking for. The cashier however had the personality of a slug, and when hubby and I tried to engage in conversation with her she made eye contact but no response. Four stars because although they had a cart wipe station the wipes were completely dried out. A sign at the door insisted there would be no entry unless masked. However a big family with a ton of kids (all touching stuff and a muck around the store) ignored the mask rule and were allowed entry. Also when I tried to go back Sunday on our way home to stock up they were closed. No Sunday hours is a huge let down.

First off let me say and take note here that when visiting in the state of Pennsylvania, when asking for a cool beverage drink it is called "Soda" not Pop. I encountered this comment of humor back in 1993 from dear relatives who corrected me when I was offered a beverage while visiting other cities such as Kingston and Edwardsville. This well known store has everything you could think of or need on a daily or weekly basis. The employees are residents young and old, and greet shoppers when walking in the doors and shopping throughout the isles of many departments. I hope all my photos are attached properly to get an idea that Weis is the place to grab and go for needed weekend party supplies and food or weekly shopping. Note again as I type this Weis does NOT carry to sell Beer or Wine (Yet) but stocks and sells their flavorful Birch Beer Soda which I bought 3 - 12 packs of 2 flavors to take back to Michigan. Beer and Wine is pending here in July. Another favorite sweet item that I MUST buy are the delicious in many assorted flavors and boxes of "Tastykakes". The company is currently headquartered in Philadelphia and manufactures the line of snack foods. These tastykakes can be stored in a cabinet/cupboard up to 2 months for those who eat sweets slow and savor.. not I that is. Also we have stored them in the freezer for longer months double bagged for less temptation or weight gain. LOL. I know some Meijer locations here in Michigan do carry these butterscotch delights, cupcakes, twinkies, jelly filled, Krimpets, etc. but the high stock is here at Weis. There is a seafood, meat and deli department here and small area with bakery goods. They sell other handmade items outside in the parking lot and areas inside the lobby from local residents or nearby cities. I am thrilled to stop in here to spend my Michigan money on great products made in PA before leaving back home. FYI : In closing I just text messaged my cousin and she has confirmed that this Weis store now sells Beer & Wine finally instead of shopping at the Outlet store. I'm sure this store has been busy lately with the hot weather and vacation fun with faithful customers now spending more money to add to their food shopping bill. I will be looking forward to shopping here again soon in the Fall or ? to buy my favorite Pennsylvania beer " Yuengling" !! "Sweet Cheers" to this Weis location in Mountain Top, PA ! P. S. My biggest issue is that it seems sort of pricey for some items compared to other Wegmans locations. But maybe that's just inflation. Also the food court area is smaller than other locations. That being said, there are some items I adore here. The fresh flowers look as nice as a fancy florist. The shaved prosciutto is fantastic and reasonably priced for a large portion. There is a good selection of lamb, which is harder to get at many other supermarkets. The staff is very friendly, especially at the pharmacy counter. I don't stop here often, but when I do, I treat myself to flowers and/or a cheese tray and/or a cute bakery cookie. The Wegmans quality is always top notch.
