Terrible customer service as usual from a Kroger. I had hoped it wouldn't be the case at this…read morelocation. I was proven wrong. I bought all our groceries for the week, then came home a noticed the 2 4packs of yogurt were already expired. I called Kroger and Kasey told me to bring them in and asked for item details so she could see if there were more. I told her on the phone there were no more on the shelf when I was there. Still they wanted me to come in right away to get a replacement. I came in and spoke to Angie. Again, telling her I knew there were none of the same ones on the shelf but I just need these exchanged for the equivalent so I can pack lunches for the week. She said to go back there and find something. Low and behold, they did have the same brand and flavor available in single portions (same ounces as my original purchase) and larger ones. I brought the equivalent in the same size up front. At this point, Angie starts ringing up the exchange and says there's quite a price difference and tells me I need to pay the difference for the single serves that were marked up for individual sale. That is ludicrous. Of course I don't want to spend my time and gas money to fix their error, and then pay extra on top of it. This was an easy customer service issue, and if the roles were reversed, it would be easy to see it's an even swap. I could see if I had grabbed the ridiculous larger ones... but I grabbed the exact same size, brand and flavor. At that point, I told her I would just like a refund so I can take my business elsewhere. Instead of giving me a refund, she takes the individual yogurts and walks away. The girl who took my initial call watched the whole thing and seemed sympathetic. The other employee who came up, Logan, saw some of the other customers waiting and offered to help him and asked me to step aside. When I explained that I'm simply needing a refund, he said he didn't want to get in the middle of me and Angie. I'm not even really mad at him, just annoyed at the situation. Watching other employees looking at me empathetically and unable to help, looking for this other woman who is gone several minutes without explanation. I finally asked Logan to call her because I have 1 kid with me who is getting restless, two at home waiting for me and this whole situation has gotten out of hand. In the end, after he takes care of everyone else, he issues my refund in time for her to return, saying they were looking for more of the yogurt in the back. After saying she had already verified it wasn't in stock and another person had done so before I arrived. It felt like a lame excuse for not wanting to help me. I was very clear when I said I wanted a refund. If her intent was to go back and look, she should've told me and expressed an interest in fixing the problem. If they were unable to do anything other than exchange for the 4 pack, they should've said so rather than waste my time. The whole thing could've been fixed by doing the exchange and getting employees in dairy to verify products and rotate like they are trained. Instead, it felt like Kroger wanted to rip me off and no one really cared about taking care of the issue. Never thought I'd say this, but thank God there is a Walmart in town.
