Compared with PNC or Huntington, who are really anal about small details (like showing two forms of ID in order to open accounts) and consider the sterile, "every branch exactly the same" approach to be the most appropriate, I cannot recommend the bank enough. Additionally, their free checking is definitely accommodating (although the check writing limit is a little low) and their savings yields are competitive (which, because of the current economy, means that they are ridiculously low--lol). I would recommend this bank to all of my neighbors in Avalon.

The older woman teller with the glasses and the short hair (whom I am assuming is the manager) is the most terse, unhelpful, and poorest communicator I have ever come across in my 35 years of transacting. She is quite unpleasant and exudes a harsh and uninviting aura that is certain to repel patrons from this establishment. The last straw was today when she told me that they were unable to deposit a 3rd party check that was endorsed to me. The establishment itself is grim and dingy. Based on the decor, it looks as if it has not done any renovations since the 1970's. Their online banking software is abysmally archaic and out of date by at least 15 years. Furthermore, they are habitually slow with processing deposits electronically. I have also seen first hand the apparent unscrupulous methods in which they Collect unjustified fees from certain patrons. I feel bad for the other pleasant employees that work there, as one can only assume they must endure a good deal of unnecessary stress and just put up with it because it's a job. I wonder if they have ever been investigated, because surely I cannot be the only one who has made these observations. If possible, find somewhere else to do your banking.

I have never ever heard of a bank, not wanting to take somebody's money. They were not helpful at all and didn't even seem like they knew what they were doing.
