This my 1st time using H&R Block, basically because it advertised an affordable price and assurances. Both proved to be fraudulent and I probably would have come out better preparing my taxes myself. 1st the $89 advertised is a complete scam to get you in the door, but I guess I will blame myself for not paying attention to the fine, fine, fine print. My tax return came to well over $200. Which is less than my previous tax preparation company but I also received nearly $3000 less than I have ever received in two decades. 2nd it has been well over two months and when I inquired about my State Refund, since I received my Federal Refund well over a month ago I was told to contact the State on my own behalf. So basically all that protection and assurances they advertise mean nothing because when I am concerned I was told that's between Me and Uncle Sam. So in the end I should have paid what turned out to be the extra $100 and had my taxes prepared by my usual tax preparer and possibly I would have gotten a larger refund as I have for nearly two decades and the measly refund still hasn't arrived and I have to go advocate for myself. Rather than creating a supportive environment where employees could learn and grow, the management approach often felt intimidating and demoralizing. Constructive feedback is important in any workplace, but there is a clear difference between professional guidance and personal attacks. For a company that strives to maintain professional standards, this type of behavior should not be considered acceptable. I believe many employees would be able to perform at a much higher level under stronger, more respectful, and professional management within the Bookkeeping department. That being said, my criticism is directed specifically at Nataliya Prokosheva and her management style within the Bookkeeping department, not at the company as a whole. Although I did not have the opportunity to work directly with the owner of the company, my overall impression of him is positive.
