Dolceforte came highly recommended by the place we're renting an apartment from. It also already had 5 five star reviews, so our expectations were high and we were wondering if they might be too high... WOW. What a meal! The best we've had in Italy without question. Our party of 5 had the homemade pasta with Pecorino cheese and pepper, the homemade pasta with tomato and garlic, the beef, the pork loin, the salmon mango salad, and some recommended beer and wine. We all tried everything and absolutely loved every dish. Outstanding. The presentation, the selection, the service... just everything. For dessert we got the ricotta mousse, cheesecake, and the tiramisu. The first two were excellent. The tiramisu was under flavored. Highly highly recommended!! read more

Dolceforte is an authentic Italian restaurant. Every other patron in the 2 hours we were there were local Italians, as best we could tell. The service and experience of selecting the food, feeling welcomed, and being treated as special guests was superb. And the food was phenomenal. Also, the price is very reasonable. This place is absolutely incredible. The wine list is extremely well chosen and delicious (14e for an amazing bottle!) and the pici is to die for. The owner David is warm and friendly, as are all the wait staff. I ate here a couple nights in a row and ended up having long conversations with locals at the next table over, sharing wine, discussing food, etc. It was incredible. My husband and I discovered this Restaurant due to excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Being a loyal Yelper thought I'd better update reviews of Dolceforte under Yelp. I believe the owner is the one who welcomes you, takes the order & serves the food. The choice is large, great for vegetarians also, presented extremely well and delicious. I had The leek pie & my husband, the beetroot, orange and Parmesan salad, followed by a vegetarian crepe for me and the beef cooked in wine and roast potatoes for my husband. For desert we shared a tiramisu, and ordered a cappuccino and an espresso. Everything was absolutely amazing. We also ordered two glasses of the house red (€3 per glass). Our total bill was ~€60. There were locals there but I do believe the tourists have discovered this place!! But fear not, seating also expands to upstairs, so if you plan to eat around 7pm you should be fine. My wife and I ate here two nights in a row because we loved it so much. A true gem. What a wonderful little piece of Italy.

My family ate lunch here on a day trip we took to Siena from Florence. The waitress that seated us and took our order at first seemed a bit reticent, but as soon as we asked her a question about the menu she came alive and explained the several different pasta choices that were offered. My son had paccheri with squid ink and calamari, my wife had ravioli with a meat ragu and I had a gnocchi with melon sauce, roasted olives and deep fried squash blossoms. My wife and I also shared a caprese salad. The tomatoes left a bit to be desired (it was mid June, after all) but the mozzarella was fantastic and the salad was served with a house made balsamic reduction that was absolutely delicious. Each of the pasta dishes were excellent and I would have happily given the restaurant full marks just based on the food alone. That said, I happened to have done something stupid and left my wallet at the restaurant, not noticing until a bit later. David, the proprietor of Dolceforte, found my wallet and must have done some sleuthing to find out who I was, because the next day I received an email from him telling me that he had found my wallet. I told him that I was staying in Florence and didn't have a car, so getting back to the restaurant would have been challenging for me. He offered to meet me in Florence to return my wallet. When I met him, he refused my offer of any reward for his time spent. His efforts turned what would have been the very worst experience of my vacation into a wonderful reminder of just how decent most people are. Dolceforte is an excellent restaurant that offers great food at a reasonable price and the proprietor, David, is truly a worthy gentleman. I have no reservations recommending Dolceforte wholeheartedly. So, the next time you are in Siena, I urge you to patronize this establishment. read more

Wonderful cozy atmosphere on a rainy night. Authentic, "simple" fare that tasted anything but simple! The staff was friendly and helpful, not cold or condescending to nonitalians. The house wine good. But oh, the food. Truly delicious. We can't decide if it was our best meal in two weeks in Italia or the second best. But it was a highlight of the trip for certain.
