Definitely my favorite gelato place in town! The store is bright and cheery with big windows and optimistic yellow decor. I like that the staff is very friendly and welcoming. They let you try all the flavors, no pressure. I think I've tried pretty much all of them, but my favorites are stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate chips), crema dolce neve (custard with a lemony twist), chocolate with candied orange, and tiramisu. The rest of the flavors are also really good. I haven't had a bad flavor. I usually don't like cheese that much so I was surprised that I liked some of their cheesy flavors, too. The cones are great and have never tasted stale. They make them in house and sometimes the whole store smells like cones, yaaaaasss. They also sell sandwiches (I think the chocolate cookie is better than the regular), popsicles, t-shirts, coffee, and topo chico. I usually just eat my ice cream there but I've seen several customers take their ice cream to go, whether it's a pint or just one scoop. I wish they had WiFi and a dog bowl for water outside. Speaking of water, I kind of wish they also had like berry water or lemon water to cleanse the palate. Overall, I like the gelato better than that other place in the heights, and the flavors are more comforting than that other place in rice village (although that's comparing gelato to ice cream so maybe that's not fair). read more

The best, most authentic cup of gelato you're going to get in Texas! Flavors rotate daily and some flavors are seasonal (especially the fruit sorbets), but you can be assured only the highest quality ingredients go into the making of the gelato here. Definitely been a long term fan of Dolce since they first opened in Austin. Best gelato in Houston! Easy to get to from the Heights - also access from Memorial drive or I45. Next to the Hughies restaurant and plenty of parking. We are regulars and there's always fun new flavors to try. We love the waffle cone with 3 flavors. Today we got the little cup with 2 flavors. Had a pleasant first visit here. The worker behind the counter was super nice and explained all the flavors as we tried a couple. I chose pistachio and stracciatella which were really good. The place is kind of small inside but quaint. It really felt like I was somewhere in Europe because the worker was from there as well as the only other people at the table next to ours who were from France. I went to Dolce Neve on a Friday night after dinner. We heard it was a brand new gelato place in the Heights area, and they just came from Austin, Texas. When we got there, it was very busy, and there were no areas to sit. It's a small ice cream shop with minimal seating, but they also have some patio seating. We were offered to try some samples before we settled on our gelato choices. They were all pretty amazing, but I ended up going for a small cup which included two scoops of ice cream for $4.16. I went with the Vanilla from Madagascar and the Organic Hazelnut. These were both so delicious. The organic hazelnut flavor tasted like Ferrero Rocher chocolate if you're into that. Overall, I enjoyed the gelato here. The flavors were really amazing, and I like that they have a private parking lot. Their gelato is a little pricey, but it's okay once in a while. Another Austin transplant makes a nice addition to the Houston foodie scene. I had read about Dolce Neve for quite some time and finally got a chance to check it out on a Thursday evening after hitting up Hughie's Heights for dinner and drinks. Dolce is in the same shopping center as Hughie's (great Vietnamese food) and Morningstar (great breakfast/donut spot). Gelato/ice cream shops all look pretty similar so I won't comment on that. Yes, it was clean but let's get to the dessert. I tried samples of their tiramisu, salted caramel, and another flavor who's name I can't recall. I went with a small vanilla from Madagascar. Yes, plain vanilla gelato but it is exotic since it's from Madagascar! Trying to defend myself here. I would compare the flavor to a vanilla bean. And I would compare Dolce to Amorino in the quality of the ingredients they use. No, they don't turn your gelato into a flower but they make some great gelato! read more

Excited this shop opened a location in Houston since being a hit in Austin! You'll find good unique flavors at this ice cream shop. There's plenty of parking outside, but only a few small tables inside and some outdoor seating. Everything is made from scratch and flavors change often. I sampled a few of the flavors and really didn't have any I disliked. I went with the ricotta honey pistachio & mascarpone and coffee infusion. I can really taste the roasted pistachio and enjoyed the texture and flavor of the ice cream. This place is quality over quantity, as a small cup (which you can get two different flavors) is $4.16. You're paying for good quality and unique ice cream! :) I'll try the waffle cone next time as it smelled really good as the owner was making it, whom was very friendly and nice to speak to. This Austin gelato shop favorite just opened a Houston location! I really enjoyed the hazelnut and Madagascar vanilla, and my friend really liked the one with goat cheese. I'd sample a flavor or two before choosing. They seemed really willing to let me try different flavors since their flavors are unique in nature. I went in the first week of its opening, so I can't speak to the quality of their waffle cones that were unfortunately sold out. The size of the small cup is deceiving as they overfill it, so it should be more than enough for one person. The employees were really helpful and friendly. Yahoo, my Austin favorite has come to Houston! Come here for a lovely (read: delicious) Italian sweet treat, a neighborhood feel, and super friendly people. We actually got to meet the owner, who moved from Austin to open this location, and hails from just outside of Rome. He is delightful. They have little bitty sizes that you can mix two flavors into, which is good if you're just looking for something small, but also have killer cones and larger cups, too. I got the matcha green tea and Madagascar vanilla, and it was great. My fiancé got the Hazelnut and called it a "rockstar flavor." read more

First time trying this place out and I was pretty impressed. There is not a lot of gelato places in Houston. This establishment is clean and parking is not a problem. The flavors they offered were unique and I highly enjoyed the ones I taste-tested. I was grabbing a donut from next door and wanted to try out some of the flavors. The owner was very friendly and I love the white spotless interior. COFFEE The coffee was very good. I love the creaminess and the smoky coffee flavor. It was sweet, but not overbearingly sweet. It reminded me of the haagen daz coffee flavor. ORGANIC PISTACHIO I was disappointed in this flavor. It didn't have that nuttiness that I was hoping for. I couldn't taste the pistachio. It was too subtle. I definitely don't recommend this if you're a huge fan of pistachio. Really yummy gelato place with unique flavors and a friendly staff! Originally from Austin, all their gelato is fresh and the flavors switch out frequently with a few standards that stay. I'm not the biggest fan of gelato (i prefer ice cream) but Dolce Neve is one place I come back to time and again! The place is very clean with about 2-3 tables and a bar seating against the window. Bathrooms are clean as well!
