Be sure to research what a Buschenshank is prior to visiting any of them. My understanding is that wine farmers are allowed to open up a Buschenshank several weeks a year to offer local wine and cold foods. We ordered several of the plates of cold cuts, cheeses, spreads.... which came with all of the farm bread you could ever need. Everything was very tasty. Several of the meats were heavily smoked :-)!!! We had hoped to sit on the deck which overlooks the orchards and farmland, however, the weather did not cooperate and the staff quickly relocated us inside. One of the staff is an English teacher at a local school, so that helped with my customers. Be sure to make a table reservation as this place is quite popular with the locals. Overall, a full 5 paw rating.

So if you can get a table here it's a wonderful spot for large parts of the year. The building and its interior is light and bright in country style like an elegant Inn and the staff is friendly and willing to help. The menu offers typical Austrian/Styrian food and the meals we had were delicious. One had the famous Austrian Tafelspitz, another had the chicken breast (of the corn-fed chicken) with mushroom risotto and another one of our group had the beef tartar with quail-egg in marinated ruccola, butter and white bread. This is normal, which is why we were given a tip to stay an evening at the Gasthaus when we went for a weekend trip to Reichenau. Unfortunately the place was booked out for that weekend and even for one specific weekend in June. It's very popular, so reserve ahead of time. We still found elsewhere to stay near town but still decided to come one evening for dinner. Falstaff 2 forks and 86 points. Ratings seemed to point they were good but another tip to us was they do specialities for the season and take importance in the quality of their food. The food was wonderful and I have to admit this was one of the best lamb dishes I ever had in Austria. I have high expectations when it comes to dishes serving lamb. We got as dessert a variation of what they have and that's perfect. You have no room left in you, it's k. Just order the dessert variation set. Trust me it will be worth all bloating and complaining. This kitchen has some gems stored in their sleeves. Food outstanding! The location and view. Austria is filled with Gasthauses that are situated in places with views that make you say "I'm quitting my job, moving here and eating & drinking for the rest of my life." This is a place like that. View of mountains spectacular and even though we got it at a rainy and cloudy day it was incredible when the sun broke out a couple times. You have tables on balcony, at back if you want more forest and less view or you have these couple benches as in northern Germany so that you can have some privacy with your better half. It's a 1 hour drive from Vienna (would require a lot of walking from train station). Call and reserve room or table before just going there. Staff is wonderful and helpful. If any of you new comers in Vienna are wondering where can I take my friends or family and give a taste of the mountains food and drinks, keep this place in mind.

The former owners, who ran the Jöbstl for many years, decided to opt out and leave it to others to run this Grazer institution. The result is a Heuriger, this Austrian Inn and a wine tavern, where you can sit outside in the patio under the trees, or in the roofed patio when the weather is more challenging and enjoy this marvelous view over rolling hills. Even when sitting inside the Landhaus Ruckerlberg there are big glass walls to sit at and watch onto the scenery. The food we had is delicious and typical Austrian. In particular, we had an Austrian Goulash with bread dumpling, and lots of sauce. We enjoyed our meals in the patio since the weather was pleasant.
