Her partner and my trainer Roemer Trompert is a 3 degree Black Belt Tae Kwondo and a MMA veteran who fought all over the world. There are trainings 6 days a week and the atmosphere is very good! So let's meet on the mat!!!

This is a great gym if you want to learn MMA. There are 18 lessons per week (three per day, six…read moredays a week) and you can take all of them if you become a member (and if you have an insane amount of stamina). But also if you are thinking of trying boxing, kickboxing, grappling or just would like to do stamina enhancing exercises, this could be the place for you. The atmosphere is relatively relaxed and friendly (no staredowns in the locker room or going all out against people that are obviously new to the sport). But it is still a contact sport so do bear in mind that you will have to take a punch, kick or arm bar at times (don't worry, you are wearing an armor worth of protection to ensure you don't get injured, it just hurts a little bit). You can do competition in MMA and grappling or just train for fun, it's up to you. Euhm yeah, what else is there to say? It's an extremely addictive, complex and (for me at least) fun martial art. You can get trial lesson for 10 euros I think. So if you live in Amsterdam and you think you could get into this martial art, I'd say give it a try!

Crazy Monkey is a movement facility based on Ido Portal methodology. This means tackling strength, flexibility, coordination, body control in a alternative way; using techniques from art forms such as capoeira, gymnastics, dance, martial arts, yoga. Yes, it is that encompassing. Because of this, no two classes are the same, with a common thread to tie a cycle of classes. The instructors are fantastic: Thomas, Babeth, Rich, Filipe, Volcmar. Very patient and diligent, making sure you get the right juice out of the squeeze. The students are fantastic as well! Very welcoming, joyous, playful... but when it's time to go do work, it's time to go; great quality to be surrounded by. All around a good tribe of human beings. I spent a weeklong stay in Amsterdam, and went there for that time frame. I will confidently say that they added to my trip and experience of Amsterdam, could not get enough. Now go be a Crazy Monkey!

Rob Kaman, Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky, etc. Traveling from Japan to neighboring countries, I just could not pass the opportunity to stop by. So, there I went. Unfortunately, I was only able to attend Friday morning session as it was closed for weekends. However, it was great experience to train under Master Andre Mannaart and his fighters. As it was morning class, it was rather small. Training was led by one of their fighters at first, then proceed to circuit training for a few hours. Also, I get to meet legendary kickboxer, Rob Kaman! I was completely star struck. Only one day visit, I didn't know expect such a bonus. It was such an honor to stop by and train there during my short visit in Amsterdam.

Plenty of classes available, from yoga to spinning. Downstairs they also have a chef who can cook you up a post workout meal. This saunas and hot tub area is just like going to a bath house, but it's included in the membership. This is the best addition to this location and really makes it worth the trip. By far my favorite HealthCity location. It's just too bad it is so far from home and even in the opposite direction from work.

Specifically I showed up with a friend who had done a tour the week before and I wanted to use the wellness area. I had a tote bag purse that was obviously not full and she stated that I could not wear a swimsuit, as if I should have come in fully nude (I was in work out clothes) I already knew this and said ok. The website states over and over that this is an all inclusive club, it also mentions towels and robe service which I assumed was included. I wasn't offered during the above conversation to rent a robe or towels. I also wasn't offered a tour of the facilities. I went upstairs to the locker room (that my friend told me where they were not the sales person) and took 10 minutes trying to figure out the lock, when I was finally successful, I wandered around trying to locate towels and robes, they weren't there. I went back down the stairs and stood at the front desk so I could ask someone, the first employee didn't really understand what I meant, she was very polite and tried but asked me to wait while she got Noor. I stood out there another couple minutes and eventually Noor moseyed out with her freshly made cup of coffee (because customers should always wait for employees to do personal things), I asked for a Robe and Towels, she looked at me like I was an Alien from another planet, so I repeated myself. She notified me that towels and robes could be rented in a very snotty way, didn't offer to rent them to me, didn't tell me what the rental price was. I unfortunately also was very annoyed at this point as she seemed to be going out of her way to be unhelpful and replied that isn't what the website said and also isn't "all inclusive". To be fair the website can be taken both ways but she could've been polite. So I went back to the locker room, grabbed my bag and went back downstairs and sat in the lobby for about 30ish minutes while my friend finished up. We went to join up, she asked how our time was I responded with Terrible, I was ignored. My friend grabbed the paperwork because overall the facility was very nice and we figured we would never have to speak to her again. We sat down to fill out the paperwork and after about 15 minutes she came back over and in what I'm sure she thought was a huge display of generosity said for that this 1 time only she could give us free robes and towels, keep in mind this was 45 minutes later from when I originally asked for them. I said no I didn't want them, I was hungry and wanted to leave. She then started to offer again and I stated that she should have offered them when I asked. She then told me that it was my fault because I didn't give her a chance to. I guess sitting in the lobby for 30 minutes didn't give her a chance or when we went for the papers 15 minutes before or I dunno offering to rent them to us in the very beginning or being nice instead of rude when I actually asked. We would have happily paid for a robe and towel rental, we would have totally signed up but telling a customer that they are responsible for the employees bad behavior by the employee is a major deal breaker. So they lost 140 eur a month in membership fees.
