Our dog needs monthly toenail trims and they do a wonderful job on him. We definitely would recommend Doggone Styles by Pilar!

Yeah, no. Thought this place would be convenient due to the…read morefact I had moved back to the Middlebury area. Didn't like the look & feel of the interior, gave out a whole juvenile detention center vibe to it, lay out was so odd. Cold and outdated and just did not feel welcoming AT ALL. Vet we saw was ok but the vet tech acted like she was new and didn't give me confidence how she handled our small dog. As she was frightened of her? And canned cheese for treat...really? Walked in for a nail trim (2nd time in), and tech wanted to just take my dog out back to do it; mind you my dog is super nervous if I'm not with her. I asked if i can come so to calm her. They wouldn't allow (that's fine, not all places are to allow that), but what I'd found off putting was that my dog wasn't going anywhere with a stranger and that was enough for her to suggest a sedative....to cut her nails! Wow, ok, I had never heard of something so extreme just to cut a dog's nails. I passed on that. Her reason: "don't want to traumatized." So she couldn't suggest a less drastic alternative than sedation? Uh, yeah, every dog that walks into a vet is already scared, one can't get passed that. It's why some let their pet owners in with them, or (as I had suggested): can you just do it while she's on my lap? Even groomers do this mind you. Yeah I don't feel a dog needs to be sedated for this. Now I take her to the Bristol vet place. Warmer office vibe and feel and more detailed information for my dog's needs, etc.

Recently, my dog Charlie had a dental cleaning and had 8 teeth pulled and I can't express enough how well they took care of him, from pre-procedure to discharge. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Doran and it was honestly the best experience I've had in regards to my pet's care. Thank you so much, MAH for the wonderful experience! Highly recommend them for your pet's oral and wellness care!

Perhaps something changed recently with their move to the new locations, but communication and…read morecleanliness seem to be issues. Their website includes a cancellation policy that says low stress, one dog at a time. I visited in advance of booking to check the place out. I was assured that no other dogs would be in the room with my very excitable dog. When I arrived for the appointment it turns out he was going to be groomed on a table right next to another dog. And that table was strewn with lots of different items, it would have needed to be cleared off before they could put my guy there. Not sure what the plan was. So we agreed I would reschedule. Then I found they had charged $114 on my credit card. When I finally had service there today I'd assumed the charge would be applied to this service. I was told no, but after a little push back they relented. However, they charged an additional $90 for a second rinse - just a rinse, no dry, to remove the clippings that make my dog itch. Nearly as much as the full service. And I am concerned about cleanliness. when we arrived the floor and grooming table were covered with piles of hair from other dogs. gthere was even fur out in the hallway. Gwen swept it up, but only after I mentioned it. Likely the clippers and tools were not disinfected after the last dog, and she uses a shared lick mat, not cleaned between dogs. These are red flags in regard to disease. I wish them luck in growing a successful business, but I won't be going back.
