This place isn't cheap (averaging a £100 a night). The location, on Canterbury's high street, was excellent. My room was quite pleasant. The view (of a corrugated roof) wasn't exactly inspiring. Tea-making facilities are available in the room along with a few top-grade cookies and organic tea. The bed was comfortable but the height of it and the placement of the television (at a little over bed-height) when combined with my double chin made TV viewing a little uncomfortable. Poor planning. Breakfast was very nice. However, not without some problems. On the first day we went down at 10am expecting that half an hour would be plenty of time. Due to the slow service by the time our breakfast had arrived they had started clearing away the buffet items. My full English breakfast wasn't as full as it could have been. I only had one fried egg and there was no black pudding (kaszanka). Not that I am particularly fond of black pudding, but I would like to get some. I suspect I had been given someone else's break. Oh, the toast was burnt too. When I am staying in a classy hotel I expect them not to burn my toast. Breakfast on the second day was more agreeable, I arrived early to ensure I was able to take advantage of the buffet. The hotel's cocktail bar was very nice. The first night I had an egg nog and for a nightcap a banana rumba drink. Not cheap at ten pounds a shot. But, hey, I wasn't paying Checking out was a pain. The girl had trouble understanding that I wanted separate bills for each night's stay. I gave up in the end.

Plus, Patisserie Valeri across the street has some of the best pastries i've ever had. -The rooms were nice, a good size and modern. The beds were comfortable but a wee-bit narrow but nothing extreme. -The staff was O.K nothing to write home about but they are not very knowledgeable of the area but were fine overall -The restaurant looks like a complete waste of money but then again I didn't find the desire to eat there with so many options just down the street. All in all will stay there again when in canterbury

There's an ice skating ring in front of the building to get you into the seasons mood. The rooms are quaint, clean and cozy. Actually particularly the tiling in the bathroom and the size of the bathroom are amazing. We spent a lot of time at the bar area and the spa. The spa is equipped with a steam room and a sauna. The sauna was no more than 40 Celsius. The steam room was okay in terms of heat. The jacuzzi was lukewarm at best. The pool was well heated and you can swim nice long lapse. The fitness studio is equipped with techno gym equipment, lots of weight equipment, even TRX, a rowing machine and much more. It has a good size. You find towels and water there (not always a given). I very much enjoyed the changing area, which offered GHD blow dryers. The staff (including the facilities guy Dell and the front desk lady Ella) were soooo kind. Big thank you to them. We were a bit disappointed at breakfast. The service was super slow and the selection often limited (because the staff didn't have time to refill quickly). We waited about 20 mins on tea and coffee at breakfast. What also bothered me a bit was how cold it was in many parts of the main building. The insulation is rather sparse in these older buildings. The windows are single paneled. If you sit in the bar area, you're guaranteed to feel a cold shiver sitting by the window area.

Excellent, say no more…read more But I will say more, obviously. Everything was nigh on perfect. Service was absolutely exemplary, from ALL the staff without being obsequious. They couldn't be more helpful or approachable. The hotel itself is an outstanding building (reached it's current incarnation during the Edwardian time I believe). Surrounded by 3,000 acres including a golf course. We went for a wedding, so didn't sample the golf course, or the Spa, or the conference facilities etc, but the formal gardens are well cared for and a great backdrop to the photos! And the food, a subject very close to my heart; was brilliant. My wife is on a non-lactose, non-gluten diet and of a 5 course meal on offer, she was able to have ... 5 courses. OK, we had to advise them in advance, but the adaptation was without fault. It's the first time my wife has been able to have a full meal at a restaurant/hotel for years! Oh, almost forgot the accommodation; we stayed in one of the mews cottages for the Saturday night; excellent! due largely as a result of the housekeeping, a lot of which goes on behind the scenes, but as I said the staff were all amazing. The only downside is that we live in Somerset and Eastwell Manor is, of course in Kent, so we won't be going there too often, but distance is the only barrier. Would totally recommend this venue.

The outside tables are ideally placed as they overlook the sea. The bar is furnished rather oddly with non-matching arm chairs, but the staff were welcoming and we had fish and chips and fish pie, which were all excellent. the white wine was good too and prices were very reasonable.

27 May 2011 about 5.30 bank holiday friday parked myself in…read morea little corner ordered my food prawn cocktail and main of yorky pud with saus and mash it wasnt really busy but when I had finished my delish starter of prawns i fancied a top up of my small red to go with my main it was an hour and half wait for food place was heaving brill service the barman bought my main over and i didnt want to wait for my wine so i cheekily asked him if he could bring it over whilst i was eating my piping hot yorkshire pub and he did fabulos service in a heaving pub cannot rate it highly very very good it is a chain but dont let that put you off

But it was cheap good food and loads of it. Thus we were ever so pleased to find that this fine establishment had really transformed. The place was incredibly well managed, the wait for our food was only about 5 minutes to which a well co-ordinated team of young staff quickly and discretely laid all our food. Having been a waiter once myself I do detest when an establishment overbears a youngster with too many plates. Our Hostess Karina was brilliant. She truly made the evening wonderful. She obviously had the place under control and running like clockwork, its so nice to speak to staff who you can completely trust with your order within seconds of meeting them and Karina is certainly that. The food may I say was brilliant authentic British cuisine, everything an Englishmen wants when he enters a pub/ restaurant. They labelled the spicy stuff which thankfully was only a couple of options. Obviously I went for the fish and chips which was marvellous. The barman knew my cocktail order straight away and was as quick with my order. Good to see a young man shaven & not covered in tattoos and silly ear things. Parking is brilliant, plenty of space and you can sit right by the window and watch your pride and joy while chatting with the otherhalf. Toilets clean and luxurious. The owners are very friendly and down to Earth, and while it may be a bit tricky to find them on a busy evening in the bar, they're quick to sign you in and show you to your room. We even had our room upgraded to a bigger larger bed. The room is modest but clean and nice and certainly fair for the price. The booking also comes with a complimentary breakfast (my first English breakfast) which was good. Big. Britishy. But good. Our only complaint arose when someone decided to enter the previously empty room across from us and start having sex all night with the door open. Old building + thin walls + weird sex & slapping sounds = really unhappy Jenny. While after a solid but polite 'shut up' conversation, they did finally go to bed. Or at least closed the door. But the next morning after an odd apology from the owners combined with an unfortunate voice recognition during breakfast we realised that the slapping sex couple were friends with the owners of the hotel. The whole thing was a bit odd. That being said, the owners were quite accomodating and even allowed us to keep our room until we left to catch the coach back to London. To be honest, this is the sort of place that's best for chatty folk who are looking for something relaxed, chilled and to get a taste of town life. If you're looking for a bit more a romantic weekend getaway, choose somewhere else.
