Our experience with this law firm was extremely disappointing and concerning…read more After paying a retainer/Flat Fee , communication essentially stopped. Multiple emails and phone calls requesting updates on our case and an itemized accounting of the retainer went unanswered. We repeatedly tried to reach the office, but phone calls were not returned. We also attempted to visit the office in person and found that no one was available. On several occasions the office appeared closed or the door was locked during normal business hours. Our case involved the wellbeing of children, and time was critical. Despite that urgency, we received no meaningful updates about what work had been completed or what actions had been taken on our case. After weeks of trying to get basic communication and information, we were forced to seek new legal counsel. The lack of responsiveness and transparency after a substantial retainer was paid was extremely frustrating and left us without the support we expected during an important time. I strongly encourage anyone considering this firm to ask very clear questions about communication expectations, availability, and billing transparency before retaining them.

My experience with Melanie Moffitt as my attorney was extremely disappointing. I hired her to…read morehandle a custody and child support matter, but from the start, it seemed like she was more focused on what she believed was best, rather than listening to what I needed or what both parents had already agreed on. She consistently dismissed my input, even when it aligned with what the mother of my child wanted as well. Instead of moving quickly to close the case in the first month--when it could have been easily resolved--she delayed progress, added unnecessary complications, and ignored the path I asked her to take. I eventually fired her because she was not representing my best interests, and afterward she tried to make it appear in court records like she withdrew from the case on her own. Thankfully, the official court docket in Jefferson City clearly shows that I dismissed her. Melanie also presented an invoice that listed tasks that I felt were slow, excessive, and in many cases unnecessary. She failed to challenge a $900 monthly child support amount that should have been addressed immediately. She allowed months to go by without fighting for a reduction, despite the circumstances. Once I represented myself, I was able to get everything I originally asked for--quickly and without issue. In my personal opinion, her services did not benefit me or my child. I believe she made the process harder than it needed to be and added costs that weren't justified by the results. If you're a Black parent or someone who needs a lawyer who truly listens and fights for your goals, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Even though I thanked her at the time, I now feel it's important to share my honest experience so others can make informed decisions. -- Evan Jackson Miller

If there were any unethical law firms that I could write about, this one would be the most…read moreunethical of them all. Now, if you hire them as the plaintive and they win your case that's all good, but if you are on the defense side of these people they will lie like a rug. They allowed one of their clients to stand before a judge and lie about the mental acuity of the defendant, without the defendant being allowed to be in the courtroom. That is as low as any legal counsel could get. There is absolutely no proof that the person they were bringing a case against had any mental problems whatsoever but they were allowed to do what they did without doing any research. Their standards of legal procedure are so despicable, that I am surprised they are allowed to practice law in any country. I wouldn't trust these guys if they were the LAST legal firm on the planet. Just so you know, if you really like them, you like the fact that they will allow you to lie in a court of law, and that makes you look a little unethical.

BEWARE‼After reading the positive reviews on Todd I thought he might be a safe bet. I SHOULD'VE…read morePAID ATTENTION TO ALL HIS NEGATIVE REVIEWS and saved myself a nightmare experience! I met with him for 2 hours, explained my desperate - time constraining situation, and begged for him to help me and protect me legally. He said he would, and he gave me his word as we shook hands, and I paid him $5000.00 that he required, THEN I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN for 36 days!!! So I called and left a voice message but STILL DID NOT HEAR BACK FROM HIM!!! On the 41st day of STILL NOT HEARING from Todd, I called again and his secretary talked to him while putting me on hold - BUT HE STILL WOULDN'T TALK TO ME! She said - "he said he will call you RIGHT BACK". He NEVER CALLED ME! The next day, (day 42) I drove half an hour to his office to get there at 8am. I asked for my $5000.00 dollars back. The secretary called Todd and all he said was "ok". After that, on 7/12/24, I received a phone call from Todd and we discussed each other's position and Todd said that he would be willing to help me again. My husband and I told him only if he would agree to bill us hourly instead of $5000 dollars and communicate to the opposing party and to us in a reasonable timely matter. Todd agreed to that. It wasn't until Monday morning (7/22) of not getting anywhere with Todd that I sent him a lengthy email stating my concerns and displeasure over my entire experience and he only replied "We will address your topics pursuant to the attached service agreement. Please sign and return it at your earliest convenience." and finally sent the contract to sign. However, his contract did not state the terms and conditions that we agreed upon and stated that we would pay him another $5000 dollars instead of being billed hourly. So, I had to again email him inquiring why his new contract did not state our agreement. My anxiety, frustration level, trust, and faith at this point through all the nonsense was through the roof. On Tuesday (7/23) Todd sent a contract correctly stating our terms of agreement and my husband and I signed and returned it stating - "My husband and I were hoping that we could come down and meet with you at your next soonest time because a few things have changed and I need to show you some things and it would be rather difficult to try and explain it in a email if that is ok with you? We will try and accommodate your schedule to come at your next available opportunity." By the following Monday 29th, after not ever hearing back from Todd to get his next available appointment time, I decided that it was not going to be in my best interest to proceed forward with Todd due to his inability to maintain reasonable lines of communication, inability to perform one single task for me since May 29th, inability to perform any task for me in a timely manner, inability to uphold terms agreed upon and changing them for his benefit after the fact, and causing me almost 3 months of complete wasted time causing escalated anxiety, worry, and stress. It was completely irresponsible, inconsiderate, unprofessional, and incompetent. Not only did he not keep his word that we shook on, but he cost me wasted time on my case and added problems that I have filed a complaint with the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, as there is an issue with Supreme Court Rule #'s - 4-1.3 Diligence, 4-1.4 Communication, and 4-1.5 Fees. And contacted the Better Business Bureau as well as leaving this review on other platforms to hopefully protect others from going through what he put me through. There's an endless sea of lawyers out there, so I caution you on considering this one - unfortunately his word and handshake as a man has meant nothing!
