First off...this guy charges a dollar just to walk in his store.... has SOME cool stuff but seems pretty proud of his prices....insanely high for some items Thought he was cool and knowledgeable but really turned out to be a prick. Tom in a aging rocker, gregarious and entertaining, who owns one of the coolest most delightful stores I've ever entered. For decades, he's collected an incredible array of Americana. From old pedal cars to huge architecural items, old toys and 1940-50's era bric-a-brac. The buidling is in an old gas station/car dealership and is much bigger than it looks. There's also a big basement stocked with primitive furniture and other curiosities. This is a must stop if you're headed to Door County. read more

We thought the "$1" membership was a great idea!! I think more antique stores should do this!!! The owner, Tom, was fun to talk to, and after getting to know us a little, he showed us things he thought we'd be interested in that we might have missed...he was right!! We knew he closed at 5 pm, so as the courteous people we are, we made sure to be "done" in time even if that meant we didn't get to the cool stuff in the basement. He asked if we had gotten to the basement, and then did the unbelievable...stayed late just so that we could take a quick run through!! I always treat others as I want to be treated, and this time I was rewarded with a wonderful time & some amazing items that can't be found elsewhere!!!! read more

Looking for antiques? This is the place to come.They have a lot of stuff you don't find any where. I spent about an hour browsing. The down side is the warehouse and basement are cluttered and aisles narrow. If you go in the winter beware there is little or no heat in the warehouse and basement only in the store part. Some things are pricy some inexpensive, depending on what it's worth to you. I'll have another look around someday when the weather warms up. read more

We've been going to Door Co for years and always wanted to stop here but it was never open. Finally on the way home yesterday the open sign was up! What a mistake to stop. Our group consisted of 4 older women. We were trying to take in all the stuff out front as we were walking to the front door, opened the door and started walking in. He rudely stated we had to pay $1 to get in, didn't we see the sign on the door? I, being the last about to enter stepped back and read the sign as the others retreated back towards me. We thought it was a joke. One woman in our group inquired how much an item was outside near the door. He said $40 (which it clearly wasn't worth) and slammed the front door shut leaving us outside and utterly dumbfounded. We've been to many, many antique shops over the years and always find something to buy. Never, ever have any of us been treated that way by anyone, especially a business owner supposedly in business to sell their wares. Aside from a Costco or Sam's-type legitimate membership warehouse, why does he think he can charge money just to look around? I know it's only $1 but seriously? As I said we've been passing by this establishment for many, many years and it always looks the same. Now I know why. The way he treats people he doesn't sell any of it! Obviously doesn't WANT to sell any of it. He seriously shouldn't be allowed to have a business. Maybe he should go out into the community and visit a few of his fellow Algoma shop owners to see how to treat customers. Please help put this jerk out of business. STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

Did a Door County antiquing trip with my Wife and mother. We noticed a sign as we walked in that stated you must be 18 years or older to enter. We thought he did not want kids to break his things. That could not have been further than the truth. It is because he sells pornography there. I got my family out of there and came back to talk to him privately, needless to say it did not go well. I told him I was appalled, he called his merchandise art. I do not think the county or the city would help promote any business that propagates the porn industry, especially in a heavy tourist area. We will never be back. read more

Not a bad selection, it is a vintage/antique/junk shop. He loves what he does, but the what turned me off was when we came in he made us pay a mebership fee. $1.00 each, no big deal, but why was a little off putting as he kept telling us he was trying to keep riff raff out of his store. This is a quirky, entertaining, eclectic shop! When you walk in, there is a sign that reads "members only, $1 dollar life-time membership required, refundable with first purchase" . I thought it was hysterical! Not only was the tromp through the place worth it in the entertainment value alone (it took my husband and I over an hour to look at everything), Tom is a super nice, super funny guy that is willing to negotiate with you if you find anything (which is refundable) in his amazing collection of EVERYTHING! I purchased an antique flash light for $12 (yes, I have a flashlight collection) in there, but he actually has a $12,000 beautiful nude bronze in there too! That should give you an idea of the range of treasures you can expect to find in there if you can part with a buck! read more
