From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome and at home. I loved the feel of the old school diner with counter service. The staff was awesome and kept checking in as we navigated the menu to figure out what we wanted (everything sounded so good!). We eventually landed on the pancakes, hash brown casserole and the champ. The pancakes were A+. They make the batter in house and it shows. Perfectly fluffy with the best crumb. They also used the mini chocolate chips which is always the move. Hashbrown casserole was delish and a future nap I'm sure. Maybe the best I've ever had. The champ was good but I think the American cheese kind makes it worse than it should be. Loved the sausage gravy and the basted egg was yolk porn worthy. I think with the corned beef hash it would have been even better so I'll have to try that next time. A wonderful place for a good breakfast. I would have easily given this dinner five stars but the interior of this place made me take a star back. It's a clean place however it's plain. The food here is very good and the menu looks good. . . . the Italian style chocolate chip pancakes were good. The pancake mix tasted great, thick pancakes. I liked them and yes they had plenty of chocolate chips. . . . The Hash Brown Casserole was the bomb and my favorite thing. I recommend this dish. It not only tasted delicious but it was made a little on the lighter side. It was good and very cheesy. . . . The daily homemade cinnamon roll tasted very good. It was served warm. I cut a small piece off and cinnamon, sugar, and goodness oozed out. It smelled so good. It was a good roll. . . . The service was great and friendly. The food tasted great. As a person that comes to the keys every other weekend I felt a little disappointed that I didn't find this place sooner. Place is outdated but I would rather get good food than a cute place. We ordered the Italian chocolate chip pancakes, hash Browns, Belgian waffle with bananas, pecans and shredded coconuts along with the great breakfast skillet. The great breakfast skillet you can add your toppings we added spinach, bacon,tomato and sausage gravy and omg mouth watering. Friendly service-you'll get a friendly greeting as soon as you come in. We were very hungry after diving, and not looking our best, but some fellow divers directed us to Doc's. They welcomed us in and fed us well. We went for the all day breakfast menu. It's always a choice it if will be pancakes or biscuits; my honey ordered biscuits and gravy with an extra biscuit, so I went with the pancake breakfast. The eggs were good, bacon was good (not quite as crispy as I prefer, but I forgot to specify that I like it almost burned, so most folks would probably be happy.) Biscuits and gravy were good-biscuits on their own with jelly also good. Pancakes were amazing! We had yet another great meal at Docs diner today. My family was in Key Largo to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with us, but we wanted to go out for a nice breakfast. We were a large group, and they accommodated us very well despite being very busy. Our food was excellent prepared in a perfect manner and everyone was super satisfied with what they ordered. This restaurant is a Key Largo institution! Don't miss it when you visit Key Largo for one of the best meals you'll ever have. Some wanted breakfast and others wanted lunch. Here you can have both. The décor is dated and very much like a typical diner, but the place was clean, the food was good and the overall value was excellent. We had various combinations of pancakes, eggs, French toast, grits, toast, bacon, and sausage. Everything was satisfying although not spectacularly good. Portion sizes were fairly large. Some of the toast was burnt though. The service was decent although we did have to flag down the waitress a couple of times to get her attention, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. What a treat. My wife and I chose this place for brunch on a whim while on vacation in the Keys. We got there around 10:00a and it was crowded, which I took as a good sign for a small town diner like this. And I couldn't have been more right! This place has a great feel about it. Almost like a family's dining room. The food was fantastic, classic American diner fare. My wife ordered the GBS with peppers, onions, and sausage and it tasted like a pizza we normally get at home. It had an amazing flavor profile, and the food was cooked phenomenally. I on the other hand ordered a breakfast platter with pancakes. Those may have been the fluffiest, best-tasting pancakes I've ever eaten. The eggs were cooked to perfection and I could tell the bacon was house-made. The service was wonderful as well. All of the staff we interacted with had great energy and were all smiles, even with a huge crowd of people coming in as we were leaving. Two years ago we came here and with good memories of our experience we went back again this morning for breakfast. It was crowded as you can imagine -- it being a holiday weekend. But it's really almost always busy. It's a diner with a big menu, pleasant waitresses, and if you're a coffee drinker, they're generous with their coffee. This time I tried their breakfast sandwich. You can have it on a bagel or English with your choice of meat. I had a bagel with bacon, no cheese. The eggs are scrambled and cooked flat to make the sandwich easier to eat. I ate it deconstructed. My husband had their number 1 special : two eggs, meat, and grits or hash browns. He had basted eggs with bacon and grits. Toast choices are white, wheat, or rye. Prices are decent. Service is prompt -- and friendly. You pay at the register at the counter. We will be back if in the area again. I gotta say, Doc's was kind of the ish. I was completely surprised and a little blown away by the little diner. By the exterior of the building, even I- a diner lover, was a bit nervous, but my fears turned into the tastiest breakfast and I was left with nothing but a full stomach and a smile. Ok, now the inside looks exactly like any diner you've probably ever been to looks like. I don't need to paint a picture of it because you've already got that in your head. Service here was honestly pretty phenomenal. We had two women checking in on us. I don't know which really was our waitress, but both were extremely friendly and eager to help. I ordered the number 3 which is their ham and egg scrambler (fifty cents extra I added American cheese). It came with toast - I got rye and a side of hash browns. I think the meal took approximately 1.2 minutes to make because I feel like I blinked and my food was on my table. Was it sitting back there from before and they decided to give me something someone left behind? Couldn't be because it was hot and fresh. Two eggs scrambled with chunks of ham and cheese. The portion of hash browns was great- my ONLY complaint is that they could have been cooked a little longer, but that's just me so no sweat to them. My breakfast was like $6.50 plus a drink. Under ten bucks for sure. Like wow. I loved every bite and experience in this place. I can't recommend it enough honestly. I usually have my go-to stops when traveling down to Key West for a long weekend and now somehow I've got to figure out how to add Doc's to that list because I honestly loved it here. read more

Along with my sandwich, I ordered a Cinnamon Roll. The Cinnamon Roll melted in your mouth but the breading almost had almost texture almost to it. It kinda tasted bland, but overall it was really good. If they can fix the texture, this would be a killer item that people would crave even more. Ok, so we were specifically looking for a "lunch special" and when we first read the Yelp reviews, we knew we had to give it a try. Wow!! We discovered that on Tuesdays there's a homemade Italian specialty dish. The day we were there it was lasagna and it was the best lasagna I've ever eaten!!! As many of you know my reviews are honest and this will be no exception. I would avoid this diner by all means. My wife and I went to breakfast here and won't be going back. She ordered the biscuit and gravy. I ordered a lunch item (all hour menu). The gravy was horrible and had a strange taste and was runny. The sausage in the gravy was just cut up pieces of a patty. My fries were microwaved and definitely not fresh. You'd think Id get fresh fries at 8am. The sandwich was just ok and that's a stretch. The staff completely ignored us after we got our food. Another pro tip: always check-in (on Yelp) wherever you go as doing so here scored me an instant 10% off coupon! We tried a few of their more popular dishes...the hashbrown casserole (really a side dish, not a main), The Champ and the girls shared pancakes. The hashbrown casserole was creamy and filling with shredded potatoes, cheese, sour cream all broiled in the oven...this is the stuff of food-coma legend! The Champ is a skillet concoction filled with corned beef, hashbrowns, American cheese and topped with eggs. This thing was enormous and easily shareable. As we dug in it turned into a gooey, delicious mess (especially once we broke the over-easy eggs). The girls loved the thick, fluffy pancakes topped with banana slices, shredded coconut and walnuts...a fairly "tropical" delight! Service was fast, efficient and friendly.
