I drove to the store and purchased one of the bags that she sent photos of & was amazed by how many other totes were in stock! Unfortunately, the bag I purchased wasn't exactly what I thought I needed. I emailed Daytrip ASAP to inquire about the return policy & if I could ship the return since I live a distance from the store. They responded quickly & gave me multiple options for returning my bag! I also inquired about another tote in that email & they gave prices, shipping costs & sent a photo! I could not be more satisfied with the service from Daytrip Society. They have WONDERFUL, quality products (many made in Maine) and are willing to bend over backwards to make customers happy! THANK YOU, DAYTRIP! It's not packed to the gills with merchandise but what they have is very thoughtfully selected. Some classic children's books, some stuffed animals and animal figurines, some random knick knacks, and most interestingly a small assortment of vintage toys, comics, and records. And the namesake book is very well done - I can see why they thought it was worthy of building the store around. When I was there the owners were out of the store with an emergency and the staff at the next door salon helped me out. They were incredibly friendly and helpful and it was nice to see businesses having each other's back like that. Well worth a visit!

Businesses come and go in Dock Square - some are new, others have been here since I first went to Maine as a child. The Whimsy Shop is on the latter end of that spectrum, and was always known for carrying more upscale gifts compared to a typical touristy souvenir shop. My brothers and I were looking for a gift to bring back to our parents from Maine, and thought this would be a good place to check out. The majority of their selection is home decor - there are a lot of porcelain products as well as a few housewares. They have pretty stuff, and even though it's a small store you can spend a good amount of time browsing. We ultimately decided to go with a hand-painted ceramic snowman to go with our parents' many other snowpeople they display during the holidays - it was intricately painted an truly a unique item. Service was friendly, they packed the item with care and even gave us information about the artist to take home. Overall, I had a great experience rediscovering the Whimsy Shop and would recommend it as a stop during your Kennebunkport explorations.

It is located on the waterfront of Dock Square and you can't miss it because the building is red! It is such a beautiful building and serves as the backdrop to a lot of pictures. They have a little bit of everything and I suppose it's a typical souvenir shop...but they do have some unique things here. I really enjoyed looking around and even got quite a few laughs. Just look in the windows and you'll want to go in! They seem to be decently priced as well. The staff is extremely friendly and they even have an online shop. Of course, shopping online is nothing like shopping in the store, but you can find some of their more popular items online.

It's also about supporting American made products. If I was you, I would bypass all the kitschy stuff in the front and make your way right to the wall of tee-shirts. Sure, they look like your basic tee-shirts, but once you feel them, you'll be in a whole different world. They are so soft, and the designs are cool, and as the owner says they are all made from local places. With that combination, it's not hard to splurge a little on a tee-shirt for yourself. This is a family run place, mother and son, and that gets my respect, and my business.

Like things I actually wanted to buy! None of the stupid tourist crap with MAINE written all over it. The staff was also really friendly. They greeted everyone who came in, asked if they could help, and thanked everyone walking out the door whether they bought something or not. The place was full of beach and new england inspired goods that were attractive and funky. Books about lobster, books about new england, retro sand pails, lamps made out of shells, flip flop coasters, starfish, paintings, weathered wood clocks. I highly recommend stopping in, and getting a REAL souvenir to bring back home. And if you're are one of the lucky few who live near the ocean, def come pick out some beach inspired decor for your house.

If I happened to be getting married in Kennebunkport I'd pick Fleurant as my florist in a heartbeat. I picked out a bunch of awesome stuff - some for me, some for guests - went to pay and realized that when I left my jacket in the inn (it was an unseasonably hot fall day) I'd left my credit card in my pocket. They were awesome and super understanding. I went back an hour later and not only was everything waiting for me but it was perfectly gift wrapped with little gift tags, ribbons etc. I'm seriously considering driving up to get ALL of my Christmas presents here.
