I'm 66 years old and haven't been tubing in about 40 years. Living in the eastern U.P. for 4 years and only just now discovered the place.
Today was perfect weather and I decided to relive a little of my youth. The best part is the tow rope to the top of the hill. "When I was a kid we didn't have any fancy mechanized contraption to get up the hill. You had to trudge up the side of a mountain carrying your tube (after you went to the auto parts store to buy one). We didn't go down fancy runs either. You had to blaze your own trail and hope that you didn't run smack into a pine tree at 30 mph. When you got to the bottom, you walked back up again." Man, I'm glad those days are gone.
Anyway, the tubing was a blast. Ride to top and slide back down to the bottom. Repeat as often is necessary. read more
