Nowa Ruda has this distinctive kind of charm, almost as it was too shy to be pretty. Yes, this town is poor and the cheap outfit shops greatly outnumber restaurants and coffee places. Yes, there's the White Locomotive, but it's just a glimpse of decadence in a dark wood of melancholy.
So the initiative of Olga Tokarczuk - a renowned author and recent Noble Prize laureate in literature - to open an elegant coffee place, serving coffee, wine and desserts - must be precious for the town.
