We had an amazing experience at Doar Bros, kind of by accident! We stayed at The Ryder Hotel, which is next door to Doar Bros. We stopped in for happy hour since our dinner reservation wasn't until 9pm. We had to leave our phone number and come back after about an hour wait, but it was definitely worth it! The cocktails were the best ones we've ever had period. The charcuterie board was unreal - my husband who hates cheese and olives was gladly eating them plain. The inside of the restaurant is small but very high end. The prices for the drinks were actually more reasonable than most of the restaurants/bars in that area. This review is SUPER overdue, but I keep finding myself recommending Doar Bros to so many people who plan to be in Charleston (and I live in DC). What a fantastic experience. My boyfriend and I both are in the industry and this is one of the best bars we've been to, and surely one of our favorites. The cocktails are thoughtful and clearly made with care and attention. But the cocktails are just one part of the equation. The guys (I say guys because while we were there we dealt with pear *totally not how you spell his name but I can't figure out how to spell it- please forgive me!*, and our bartender who's name slips my mind, BUT they were/are great. Visiting Charleston one of my favorite beach spots for Labor Day and in desperate need of some sun kisses. After using my trusty Yelp came upon DB and it's exactly what the doctor ordered and by the way they take reservations (you can thank me later). Almost missed this gem as I walked passed Hyman's yesterday. Thankfully the streets and downtown were quiet and this boutique bar poked out and I had to go inside. It is a compact space put to excellent use. It's got a mid century southern flair that feels inviting & cozy. A real gem. The bar is the focal point as you enter with an array of beverages stacked beautifully behind the counter. IF you fight through all the crap and find their door (Doar) you will be rewarded with amazing drinks and light fare to eat as well. (Some not so light, that mac and cheese is incredible!) The space feels like a well-appointed, upscale, gentleman's lounge with plush green leather and dark-hued walls, but it is definitely friendly for all genders, since I came with a bachelorette party and we all had an exceptional experience. They have phenomenal, unique cocktails and a friendly, professional, and well-informed waitstaff to help you select the best choice for your specific taste preferences. They even bring legit Spanish-style tapas to the table, meaning they're free and you don't get to choose what they give you. We got truffle popcorn and some other type of dessert I don't remember, and both were delightful! I got two drinks based off my waiter's recommendations. The first was the Back to the Fuschia, which was delicious and super flavorful, but not sweet. It definitely packed a bit of a punch in terms of alcohol content, even though you wouldn't notice it from the taste. The second drink I got was the Little Darling, which had a cool presentation and came in a cute little clear tea cup. It was tasty, but it definitely wasn't as good as the Back to the Fuschia, in my opinion. If you like rosé, you're sure to like it though.
