Someone had stolen it. This coin purse also had a spare key to my home and some other things. When I called them to ask for surveillance footage, they do not have any cameras in their shop to validate anything. All the manager (John?) said was "I trust our guys and I don't think it was stolen here". He asked each individual that was near my car "did you take it?" and he told me no one said they did... well... that's a bit silly. Why would anyone risk losing their job by fessing up to doing something that would get them to lose their jobs. Ultimately, I'm disappointed because I don't think the manager really put in much effort to try to investigate or rectify this incident. He told me to make a police report and that's all that he could tell me. He mentioned that he was the one that drove in my car to the bay, then the technician worked on my oil change (so no reason to be in my middle console) and another guy drove my car up to the front once the service was done. I asked for their names for the police report and the manager told me the police can get that information. I'm feeling really gross right now because I took my car trusting this place. Dumb of me not to think to take the coin purse out from my car... but there was no reason for someone to be inside my car other than to drive it in and out which is literally a couple of seconds. But the worst part of this is dealing with the manager, John. He was defensive, dismissive and self righteous. When I told him that I don't think anyone would fess up to taking my things when asked upon, he confidently said that his guys would. Which is pretty naive. He brushed it off saying "if they are dumb enough to steal, they will slip up and get caught." but I also mentioned "or they are that smart". Now thinking back to how things were handled and the demeanor that the manager had, I feel like he might be the guilty one. He is the one that drove my car in to the bay to get it serviced... The day I spoke to the manager he told me he has one more guy to check with and he would call me back. I don't have a record of him calling back or laving a message. I called back today since I hadn't had an update. The manager got defensive saying he called me back multiple times yesterday. I choose to trust my call log and I don't see missed calls from him. Then he called me back to tell me that he did call back. He said the call lasted 2 seconds according to his records. So.... is that "calling someone back"? I don't know if I can call that an attempt... regardless, he didn't contact me today to give me the update. When I asked why he hadn't called me if calling me yesterday he wasn't successful, he said he's been busy and it slipped his mind. So that tells you how much he cared about the incident or his promise to get back with me. I told him I'm disappointed in the lack of investigation he's done regarding this incident and he snapped back at me saying "that's not my job, it's the police". To which I let him know, I think it's a manager's job to handle any incidents that happen under his supervision. Looking at the interactions with him in hindsight, his demeanor is very sus... Welp. This all sucks. The fact that I've been taken advantage of, the fact that Christian Brothers just raised their hands up saying it wasn't them without any proof and just told me to write a police report. I guess I'll be looking for a new place to take my car serviced. Such a bummer.
