I went for my 10:10 appt for my Real ID, taking the 1hr trek. I made the appt a month ago & this is the soonest I can get an appt at. All of the sites I went to state this facility is close on weekends leading up to the appt. So I was anxious. I made sure to have all the proper documents needed. I checked in at 9:46, was called in to kiosk 5 a minute later & everything was done less than 10mins later. The staff from check-in to the end was nice & professional. I know you may find this hard to believe but I enjoyed my visit to the DMV!!! Did I have to wait-yes... About an hour-yes.... But, that information was clearly explained during check-in and that helped make a difference. Upon arriving, there is the sweetest young lady that checks you in and very politely explains everything to you. She then helps you get your ticket and gets the process started. I took more than enough documents (passport, dr license, car title, w2, property tax receipt, tax returns, voter registration card, and another document mailed to me at my home address, plus my government-issued work badge--for which I had to have a complete background check). I, a woman, born and raised in Tennessee, am an employee of the state. I couldn't get the Real Id because my birth certificate was not certified (only a mother's copy- the only one I have) and my marriage license is in a frame. We found the women (three of them) to be uncaring and rude. Wasted four-hour drive and personal day off from work, but the centers closer to home are booked for months and my license expired last week. I made this appointment three weeks ago, the soonest I could find anywhere. I got a regular license and will use my passport for domestic travel. read more

We just moved to cookeville, TN about 4 months ago. From South Florida. The DMV here is Amazing, the lady at the desk was very nice and helpful. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes. Way better than Florida's DMV. read more

growing up in cookeville, i've always loved our DMV (its quite clean and very spacious). however, i've only ever gone when it opens in the morning. cookeville DMV definitely is heaven compared to every other story i've heard from a DMV. take advantage of the convenience and friendliness of this place, yall! PROTIP: they open at 8:30AM. get there around 8 AM if you want to be one of the first in line and not have to wait PROTIP: they have ipad kiosks for quicker service for you to renew your license or if you need a new ID or anything like that read more

This places customer service is horrible. You walk in, they treat you like a prisoner. The workers are robots with no personality, and the ones with a personality have bad ones. I'm not one to bash, this is my first yelp review. If you want to be treated like you're a nobody visit this place! I have only met one decent person who works there. read more

If you go to this DMV, you will be there for at least 2 hrs, but probably half the day. This is the slowest place I think I have ever been too. I believe a dr office moves quicker than this place. There customer service is okay. The people working there is fairly friendly. But I went in to renew and upgrade a license, and waited over an hour and a half and my number was still way down the list. I ended up leaving before I got called up because I had a appt. elsewhere. They definitely don't have a user friendly system that has any amount of quick customer service in mind. The state of Tennessee definitely needs to rethink user friendly, quick customer service and how they can move quicker with there process. I had to go back later to finish up renewing my license. They have about 10 desk stations for service but they only have about 4 people, at the max, working at one time. Also while I was there, one person seemed to be just observing the others working.
