I attended RCC for 2.5 years for the Vet Tech program. It has it's pros and it has it's cons…read more PROS: -Instructors are very nice. If you are there to learn and you're determined, you will get the attention and help you need to succeed. If you are there and do not try your hardest, instructors will not go out of their way to assist you in your future. I loved all of my vet tech instructors. -It is challenging. I was not expecting such an extensive program given that it is Rockford. I was TOTALLY wrong. This is possibly the hardest program/educational course I have ever gone through. This program will pick out your weaknesses and you will need to study your butt off. This isn't a program that you can just sit back and relax in. -Price is fairly cheap. Now, given that I started the program when tuition was $36k for the entire program, RCC has made changes so those with some financial trouble are able to attend. I believe it is now $160 for each credit hour? Don't take my word for it, but prices have dropped. CONS: -Vet Tech program changed about 2-3 times while I was attending classes there. The school was undergoing some changes and that caused me to have a later graduation date than originally stated, which in turn made me upset. I was set to finish the program in December, but instead, now finishing in March. It may not seem like a huge deal, but after so long in the program, I was ready to be done. -Everyone in power is hard to get in touch with. Several times my father has tried to get in touch with the financial adviser at RCC and will not get a call back. Same goes with e-mail to some of the staff and program director. I understand that there are several students to get in touch with, but speed should be improving, especially since RCC is growing. -Staff is sometimes unpleasant. There have been several instances where I have come in contact with some grumpy people. My fellow vet tech student ordered Jimmy Johns to have delivered to the front desk so she could eat lunch during our 12 hour day in the vet tech department. When Jimmy Johns arrived, the "manager" Dewey, basically yelled at my friend that ordering food and having the front desk assistant notify her when her food was there is unacceptable and is not allowed to be done. I understand how this can be a problem, but it was like the umpteenth time she had done this. And Jackie at the front is not always so peachy. There have been a few times she has made me sign in when I had forgotten my ID. She clearly knows me, as I have been going there for 2 years. But she is never really pleasant to me, -The front doors are open a majority of the time. We are given ID badges when we first sign up for our program and they are to be used and warn at all times. There is no need of the badges if the front doors are always open to intruders. And of course, when they do close the doors, I forget my badge, and I get blamed for not having my ID the one day they DO decide to close the doors. RCC is in Rockford and Rockford isn't really all that safe. Those doors should be close all the time except for orientation. It wasn't my favorite school, but I am glad to have gone through the Vet Tech program. Would highly recommend the program, not necessarily the school. Happy to be graduating in MARCH!

They have a wide range of programs/degrees, from theater to science to technology. As far as I know they still don't offer bachelor's degrees, so associate's is as good as you're going to get, but they do offer plenty of vocational degrees, like autobody, cosmetology, and CNA. Classes are generally small, although there are a few lecture halls. The professors are usually real people, who genuinely want you to succeed in their classes, and will actually help you to do so. Of course, there are always some who just have their own agenda and want to spread their own opinions instead of teach (I won't name names), but most of the professors I had were somewhat passionate about their field, which definitely helps a person to learn from them. The funny thing is, a lot of people look at Highland as an extension of high school, and I can't say I disagree, but I would tweak it a bit and say it's a good prep school. It's a solid choice if you're trying to transition from high school to a university or even to real life.

They give you printed step by step instructions to follow and all of the supplies. Someone is always there if you need help. They do loaded brush night where you can bring food and alcohol and paint a predetermined painting all led by an instructor. They have mixed media projects which are really fun. There is a gallery upstairs of local artist work and is great to browse during class breaks. The owners, Tabatha and Therese, are amazing and very passionate. My moms group does private parties frequently and have taken classes with both instructors. Both are awesome, patient and wonderful at teaching people like me with no experience at all. I have done loaded brush night and mixed media. Can't wait to try open studio. One huge tip- Public calendars come out every month on the 8th for the following month. Most sell out fast as space is limited. I have an alarm set every 8th to remind me to look at the studio calendar! Can't wait for my class next week!

The class was small so there was more individual attention to our art, along with personal and great conversation with the owner/artist/instructor. She offers a variety of classes in different mediums so there is something for everyone. And if you have had limited art classes as I have, coming here with personalized instruction is perfect. Check out the website and see what is being offered the rest of the month, and June's schedule is soon to be posted. And don't forget to check the art gallery on the main floor and upstairs by local artists. Definitely some good stuff in there. Most assuredly, I will be coming back.

Chad and his colleagues worked with me to help me get scheduled in a class that fit in my schedule. The professionalism of this instructor was superb. The course has come such a long way. The mannequin simulator used allowed for the class to experience real situation that we may encounter. The instructor, Chad, went over what each person in the class needed to focus on and tailored their experience with the mannequin to actual situations that they would need to react to. I felt the this is by far the BEST company I have ever taken the course with. They are American Heart and you receive a AHA card, which is becoming the requirement for many hospital systems. The price is fair. The location is a bit difficult to find. Tip for finding the location: The New Towne Plaza is the name of the complex and you enter the general entrance on the west side of the building. There is not a sign on the outside of the building.

When she got home last night there was still toner on the base of her head that the student didn't wash out ( she was too worried about getting food and talking to another student)! Today her hair is orange and brassy. When I called they told me there was only 2 openings tomorrow, but my daughter is in school for one and at her dress fitting for the other. I told them that a teacher needs to fix their mistake and I was told that the teachers are busy supervising the students and that they don't do hair. Thanks for ruining my daughter's hair for her brother's wedding!!!!
