I had my hair braided about 3 weeks ago and I really have not been satisfied from the start. I felt the braids were rushed especially towards the top/front. The stylist didn't braid them all the way down and didn't clean them up after the service, as she was rushing. Fine, I said it's okay I likely just won't return or will only see the lady who braided my hair the last time. Now, braids in the front have fallen out and my hair is not that short for the braid to fall out after a week and a half. A few fell out in the back but I would expect/understand that as the back is short. I called ahead and asked about knotless braids about lower back length and I let them know my hair is pink and asked if it could be tucked to hide the pink. She told me to come at 8am to see and quoted me $240. I arrived at 8am and she looked at my hair and I asked again about it being tucked and she said yes. She asked about the length I said lower back and told her the price I was quoted and she laughed a bit and said no, it will be $280 for that length and asked me to pay in cash since the owner was out of the country. Fine, whatever, I'm already here. We started around 8:15-8:20. I noticed I was seeing a lot of pink and mentioned it being tucked again and she said yes. She continued braiding. Around 12-1 a few people came in. They were all speaking French... looking at my hair, fake smile... she then asked me if I spoke French. I could understand enough to know that they were talking about me and time and such... Rude! She asked the lady to return in 2 hours.... She returned about 2 hours later... at this point I am about 6.5 hrs into my service. (It took over 8hrs) They start basically yelling back and forth in French and I can understand enough to know that they're talking about how long it's taking and when she told her to come back. The other stylist comes over and is looking at my hair and they're still speaking in French. She's asking her how to do the top likely because of my hairline, which she also commented on before saying I have no hair... At this point I'm uncomfortable but... what ya gonna do! Towards the end of the service again she chuckled and says oh hah I should've charged more for the extra hair, but it's okay. At this point I'm feeling nickle and dimed and was just annoyed and ready to go. She rushed through the rest of my service. The braids in the back were braided out to the ends but the braids towards the top half were noticeably different as they were not braided all the way down. When she finished braiding she just ran the blow dryer through it and dipped it without trimming the extra flyaways. The braids in the back fell out just a couple days later. Which I expected because the back of my hair is short. Braids in the front fell out a few days later and I was really upset at that point after spending $300 including a $20 tip. At that price and the way the service/transaction went I just felt like I was being cheated. I watched a couple YouTube videos and was able to redo the braids in the front by myself. I reached out to the owner who didn't respond. I had a great experience my first time at this salon and my braids lasted a good while and were nice and neat and my hair was the same length. Let me begin by saying that I never use to let my own mother touch my hair unless I REALLY needed help. I found a hair dresser in September of 2016. I was happy with the way she braided my hair but I had to take Advil. I stopped going for 2 months and then went back in March because I was going to PR and needed braids so that my hair would not get damaged with the water. My braids were so tight and painful that I broke out all around my head. It was not worth it. I found another lady who not only over charged me but would not do my hair the way I wanted it and would criticize people who permed their hair. As a hair dresser, you should accept everything that people want. Anyway..I left. THEN, my co-worker referred me to Djama Hair Braiding. At this point, I had gone through hell and back and just had to keep trying until I found the perfect hair-dresser and sure enough, Cherita made my dreams come true. I am 100% satisfied with my hair. No pain, perfect length, perfect amount and perfect price. I got 5 compliments as soon as I left the salon and 3 weeks later, I am STILL getting compliments. I called in for a same day appointment based off a friends referral. At first customer service doesn't seem like a high priority here but once you open up and start the conversation, it's much better. The assistant in the shop is very nice and friendly. I came in to get 5 large, long cornrows. The stylist that worked with me took the time to consult me. I showed her a picture of something I similar to what I wanted. She suggested I get 6 braids instead of 5 because of the thickness and length of my hair so I went with 6, I'm glad I did because she was right. The 5 braids would have been too chunky. She took inspiration from the photo I showed her and did her own thing. Love my braids. I got many compliments after I left the shop. I have been going to Djama for three years now to get my waist length box braids. I am a tender-headed, busy entrepreneur on a budget and this shop - specifically PRUDENCE - has accomodated my every need. She agrees to open the shop at 6:00am so I can visit before other customers and invites her colleagues to join her so I can get started before the 9am open time. She patiently detangles my 4c hair, ensures she moisterizes every strand before blow drying my hair on cool setting. She is careful with my edges. One time she even prayed before braiding my edges - YALL! And she is a perfectionist making sure that each braid is the same size, same length and parted with care. I do not trust any other shop...or any other braid woman more than Prudence. I will be her loyal customer for as long as I choose this protective style. This was my first time getting senegalese twist. When I first decided to go to this place, I had relied on their youtube commercial. In the commercial, I saw that they were clean and friendly and interacted with the customers. I said ok I will make my way to this professional establishment. When I arrived for my appointment, (They couldn't understand why I would not be able to get to the shop between the hours of 9-5) There were children all over the place. (ok maybe only 3). It was dirty. (They just picked combs off the floor and put them in your hair) I asked for a deep condition. They washed my hair and then tried to blow dry it, a fuse blew..I should have known then. The comb they used was extremely thin and she literally raked my hair. The first person who started my hair did a good job, but she didnt speak english. The person who started the back of my hair obviously didnt care as the braids in the back fell out within the first three days. They took my money before they were finished doing my hair and counted it out in front of me. (Rude) Then the only people who spoke english left the shop! I had to go back twice to get these braids fixed. When the braids fell out AGAIN (after two weeks) they said they would charge me $60. Then the lady on the phone said they are probably falling out because my hair is too short. Needless to say Frick this place. read more

I went in for Senegalese twist. My appt was for 9 am, they started about 9:15-9:20. Let me list the pros and the cons: Pros: It was two ladies working on my hair, they were gentle enough (I'm not tender-headed), they didn't take any breaks, the price was good for the thickness of my hair. Cons: It was was two other women that were there and they kept touching my hair randomly (one women was eating and came and ran her fingers thru my hair. Gross!), speaking very loud in French and I couldn't have a phone convo. It took about 6-6.5 hours for the whole process, which I was happy about that! Normally, for one person it takes 8-9 hours because of my length and thickness. Overall, it was a good visit. If they couldn't turn down the convo that they were having it would've been a better visit. Would I go back or recommend this location to someone? Came back for Fluffy twists this time and had the same great service :) The ONLY complaint I have is that they are litterally just a braid shop. Dont expect them to be able to maintain your hair (mine is natural.) I was extremely cautious about going to this place because I have read not good reviews. However, I just got my hair done yesterday, and I LOVE IT!! I will post pictures below to show you the hairstyle I got. I requested to get my braids done by Shareeta because that is who my friend went to. Not only did they not hurt...at all (which if you've been getting your hair braided, you know how uncommon that is) but she completely listened to how I wanted my hair. They do a really great job at braiding your hair, I mean the outcome results of my individual box braids that I got are beautiful and exactly how I want it. Another pro is they provide the hair of many colors as well which is included in the total cost of your selected styles if you're getting box braids. However.. I have natural 4C hair and had washed my hair the day before, I don't put heat on my hair, just detangler spray with a detangler brush and have the natural state of my afro. The braider I had during my last visit, blow dryed my hair because I guess it was still too kinky for her to part etc, which is fine, but my problem was HOW she combed my hair aggressively while blow drying my hair. I have 4C DRY hair, I didn't put any oil or detangler spray in my hair the morning of my appointment, you know 4C hair is very thick and course and you're literally ripping hair out when you comb it dry and rough like that, just from that alone my head was HURTING. In addition, some of the braiders are on their phones way too much. I understand checking once in awhile when you receive a text message here and there, but the braider I had during my visit she was on her phone TOO much, like every few seconds, to check her messages, call people and talk loudly in my ear while she braiding my hair while being on that call. It was making me insane (especially since I'm already there for 5 hours). I almost wanted to get up and walk out because I had enough. The worse part about this was the fact when she was almost done and had just a small patch left of my hair that needed 3-4 braids left, that she could have finished rather quickly because she was a quick braider, but she kept STOPPING to reply to the messages on her phone. I was so annoyed. This is the only thing I dislike about this place, if people are spending money on getting their hair done, we are also spending money on the time you're investing into braiding our hair, not to mention disrespectful to your customers, much? If you have patience and can tolerate this type of behavior then go ahead, other than that this is my last time visiting this place because I'm just too annoyed to go back there and have the same type of treatment. Well...I was really excited to go to Djama after reading the prior review. However, my experience was not as...glowing. First Impressions: My experience began with a postive phone call to explain what I wanted (tree braids), what kind of hair I planned on bringing, credit card policy (yes, they're accepted) and how long the ordeal was expected to last (2-3 hrs). The person I spoke with was knowledgeable and very helpful. She let me know I could come in within the next 2 hrs. Perfect! I find the place pretty easily and manage to get a close parking spot. It was 95 degrees and humid that day, so I was expecting at least a little AC in the shop. I even bought a sweater with me to avoid freezing. I was wrong. There are only ceiling fans. ARGH. I also noticed hair strewn everywhere- on chairs, on the floor and generally flying through the air due to the fans. Ewww. Eventually I see one of the ladies wielding a broom. I guess she read my mind. The Ordeal: Ok, so I sit down and the woman (we will call her Lady 1 since she doesn't tell me her name) first blowdries my hair to make it straighter. It's 85 degrees minimum in the shop and she's blowing even more hot air on me. I feel like I'm going to pass out. Luckily it's quick. Lady 1 starts the braids and I realize that the color hair I bought is a little more purple than anticipated. So I ask her to remove the 5 or 6 braids and stop using that hair. Since the ladies do not speak much english, I have to harness my best 5th grade level french and explain that I don't like the color and will need to either get more hair, get a different style or come back another time. I ask for cornrows instead. Lady 1 seemed to be upset - marked by the french-ish yelling that ensues among all present braiders. They talk amongst themselves for about 10 mins and I ask them whats going on...No response. I ask again for a different style and Lady 1 brings out hair in an appropriate color and gives me the cornrows that I asked for. They don't charge me for the new hair. Luckily, the braids go in quickly since it's 2 braiders per head. I'm very happy about this since I did not planning on dying of heatstroke that day. The End: Finally, my hair is done and it really looks great. I give her my credit card to pay. I get a look and a "no no no". Everything stops in the shop. Other ladies say "no cards". One other lady says "machine broken". Me: I was told by the manager that credit cards are accepted. I look at the door with the Visa and Mastercard symbol. She says yes, they do accept credit cards, but there's a $5 fee to use it. Fine, I say. Then she says no, I must use cash b/c Lady 2 needs cash to take home. She directs me to the nearest ATM. I pay in cash. The End. Pluses: Fast, high quality braiding technique, reasonably priced. Minuses: Inconsistency between management and on-site staff, little english fluency, unsure if cash only (visa and mastercard sign on door), messy, no AC. read more

The ladies working there did not know I spoke French and Ewe. They were insulting me in Ewe and making fun of me and other clients as I was getting my hair done. I chose this spot based on a friends recommendation. Needless to say, I will never do that again. I called a couple of days ago to make an appointment for Saturday for Kinky twist. I spoke with the manager who was extremely nice and very helpful. She informed me that she could schedule me in for 3:30, however, if I could come earlier that would be great. I ended up coming around 2:30 and still waiting. Which I didn't mind, because I figured I was early anyway. This is not why I gave them 2 stars. Staff: So the staff only spoke French to each other, the entire time I was there (6 hrs). I found this to be rather rude. The MAJOR problem: So I showed the stylist the design that I wanted, length, color and style. The picture was on my ipad, and came from their website. She looked at me smiled and proceeded to put the twist in my hair. I stated on several occasions that they were way to tight, I felt as if she was twisting my brains. Once she completed the back row, I pointed at the picture stating that I wanted my braids short, as shown in the picture, she smiled and said yes. Once she did hte next row, it didn't seem as if she comprehended so once again, I pointed at the picture and then my neck to show her I wanted them short. At this point she starts speaking french to one of the other techs who tells me oh no they will be no worries. The tech on my head then states in half english and half french that she only speaks french. SMDH. A couple of hours go by and another tech gets on the other side of my head, yanking and pulling so now I really feel like my braining is being ripped out of my skull. Despite my repeatedly telling them that it was way too tight. One time the tech told me she knows its tight but its pretty. REALLY!!!! When it was all said and done, the braids were supposed to come down to the nape of my neck, as per the pic I showed them. However, the braids came down past my shoulders. I told her that they were too long and asked her to cut them, at which point they all got to talking french again and she turned and said she couldn't make them any shorter, despite another tech clearly trying to explain to her through hand gestures how to do it. She was just too damn tired. Tired indeed, was my whole experience. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I ended up going home and cutting the braid short myself. I have been going to this salon for several years now. It was under another owner but they are still very good. The new owner Sitou is very very good. Her English is perfect and she is really ready to please her customer. She asks her employees to speak English as much as possible, to looks presentable (not the typical "hair dresser hair" and she does not have a television in the shop. She said she thinks it slows the braiders down if they are distracted by the television. (I agree!) They salon is clean, easy to find and they do a great job. read more

Let me just saying that i never give yelp reviews, but this experience at Djama, has used me to feel the need to. I had an appointment and I still had to wait when I got there. I went to Djama to get my hair done, the hair looked very nice, but the next day I woke up with scabs in my hair, and the hair was already coming out of the braids. I called them to see how they could help and they said they could redo the braids, which is pointless because it would scab again and it would hurt me. I asked for my money back or at least some form of compensation because I will have to pay to get my hair done over after it recovers and they told me they didn't give refunds. Their work is good, but the pain that comes out of it is not worth it. The shop is dirty and their customer service is a horrible. I have been getting my hair braided by Cherita and her staff for over 6 years and have never been disappointed! Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am so serious and anal when it comes to my braids. Cherita gives me exactly what I want and never complains or try to increase the prices at the last minute like some shops do. She takes her time with me and all clients from what I have seen. I usually get micro Senegalese twist and she does a fabulous job. I work in downtown DC and I swear, I can not walk out to lunch or go to the grocery store without someone stopping, complimenting me and asking for the Salon's number. What I find interesting is that when I take my Son to get his locks done, the braiders in that Salon ask me about my hair and compliment me as well. Also the ladies in the shop are always nice to me and have even walked to CVS to get me some medicine when I wasn't feeling well. All I know is that unless Cherita leaves the country or closes the shop I will always be a HAPPY client! Djama is my fave braiding salon and I have been wearing braids forever! read more

I made an appt and arrived on time-12:30pm. It was packed and all of the braiders were busy with other clients. It was hot, I mean stifling hot. No a/c just fans blowing hot air around. They took me at 1:40! I wanted 8 french braids and it took 2.5 hrs! I left more Han 4 hrs after I arrived, it was painful and way too drawn out, and it was $80. For that price I could've gone somewhere else and spent the same money for half the time and torture! Won't go back. read more

They gave me the braids I wanted. Great. BUT a week after having them done, they are loose. I had 3 different braiders. The one that braided the back, the braids are loose and a bigger size. I haven't pulled my hair up in a bun or anything so I have no clue why they are loose after a week? I'm kinda pissed because I paid $220.00. I probably will not get my hair done here again, this is probably what I get for cheating on the lady who originally does my hair. I brought my 9 year old daughter here to get cornrows during the summer. I chose this place because it was close to home and had no wait time. It's a tiny little salon, with absolutely no decor and quite unappealing. I didn't really care though, as long as they did a good job. When I had called prior to arriving, I told them that my daughter had shoulder length hair and they quoted me $55. As soon as she yanked the ponytail holder out of my daughter's hair, I knew this may not go too well. She starts detangling her super thick and curly hair with a BRUSH--just grabbing sections and ripping through it. I asked the stylist if she had a wide tooth comb instead, and she seemed to have an attitude, and went to find one. It wasn't much better, but she finally got through it. Once she started braiding, my daughter immediately started crying. She's had her hair braided before, and never reacted this way. The woman was extremely heavy handed and my daughter was in pain the entire time. Also, she used absolutely no products on her hair--no moisturizer, oil, gel, creme...nothing. When she was finally done, it wasn't exactly the style I had described, but I was just glad the torture was over. When I went to pay, the woman told me it would be $75! When I told her I was quoted $55 on the phone, she said, "she has a lot of hair, so we charge more." Whatever, we just wanted to get out there asap, so I paid and left. So i have been braiding my hair myself for 4 years in order to save money, but I hadn't braided my hair in a long while, and i just didnt feel like taking 48 hours to do my hair myself. And so for the luxury of having someone else braid my hair faster for me, I went to this place yesterday to get medium-length, thin Senegalese twists. I called before going (good thing I did). The phone was answered right away, by the owner I think, who was polite and answered all my questions. I got a price quote of $180, and the hair extensions would be provided at the shop, and included in the price. Fine. I asked if they had any open chairs and what time should I come. She told me to come around 2 pm. (mind you, "African time", which translates to 2:30ish/3...) I got there at 1:50 pm anyway, I was greeted at the door, and the women were still braiding hair (there were about 5 other clients getting their hair braided--dang, i should have come earlier in the morning) but it looked like a couple women were nearly done. They asked me to have a seat and wait. I was finally attended to around 2:45. PROS 1. Multiple women working on your head to speed up the braiding. There was one braider who did the back--and note, you gotta speak up and monitor what they're doing. I asked to check and make sure the back braids were the same thickness as the front. Didn't want a surprise when I got home....---there was another braider who did the front, and another braider who finished off the ends of the braids. (the one who did the back braided 3-way a little, and then proceeded to twist 2-way, while the one who did the front knew exactly what she was doing, and braided 2-way at my roots from the get-go. 2. THEY ARE FAST! (I left at 9 pm, given that they took a "short" lunch break in between-- I'm sure if I got an AM appointment, I would have been done by noon, ugh. Oh well, next time...) 3. Price was reasonable. I had a friend that also got Senegalese twists at Wheaton Mall for $250. And I couldn't imagine what I'd be paying in downtown DC... 4. MY BRAIDS CAME OUT BEAUTIFUL!! This was definitely worth it! they took their time at the end to trim the flyaways and neaten the edges. (make sure you pick the right color you want from the get-go so that you're fully satisfied) 5. They DO accept credit/debit card payment (good thing their machine was working that day!) CONS 1. Although the braids are beautiful, they are so darn PAINFUL!! I told the braiders my scalp is sensitive. At least the woman who braided the front part cared, but the one at the back did not. She kept yanking and pulling. It was such hell and I couldn't wait to be done. I know the tightness makes the braids stay in longer, but I don't want any hair loss or breakage--planning to keep these in no longer than 3 months. After that, giving my hair another period of rest, so won't be coming back to this shop for a while. Like I said, it was definitely worth it though. The good thing is, to ease up the pain, when I got home, i took double dosage ibuprofen, went under a semi-hot shower so the steam could loosen up my tensed braids, and I oiled my scalp a little. I slept with my braids loose and flat on my stomach with head up and chin resting on my hands (not comfortable, but in the morning, the pain was alleviated) 2. The women are chatter boxes. It can get loud as conversations and jokes are thrown across the room. I'm used to this, but if you find this annoying, it would definitely be a con for you. The women did not know I could understand French. When one of them made a playful comment about me shutting my eyes in the chair as they worked away, I answered her in French saying I was tired, but probably not as tired as them, who had all probably been there since 7am, and she was surprised and laughed. I have been a faithful customer of Sitou and Djama for about ten years. In that time I have been nothing but completely satisfied with their level of expertise and professionalism. Sitou and her staff strive to exceed expectations by treating each client as an individual and catering to their every need. I have had an array of different styles done, over the years, and I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed with the end result. After reading through some of the other reviews, I feel the need to address some of the outlandish accusations. Sitou and her staff are skilled, efficient professionals. Do they converse in French? Absolutely. This doesn't bother me at all because I know that a) they aren't talking smack about any of their clients and b) it's no different than going to a nail salon and having every worker talking in their native tongue. I've also learned a few words (bonjour!) :) I have seen Barbicide jars with the blue solution in them. I have watched the staff use proper protocol when it comes to sanitizing their styling tools. I highly doubt that any Djama employee would drop something on the floor and proceed to use it on a clients hair without sanitizing it first. I could be wrong but I really doubt it. The shop is constantly being swept and cleaned, however there might be times when hair (not dust) is on the floor--- BUT it's a HAIR SALON... what do you expect? When I get my hair braided, the stylist is constantly asking me if they're too tight or if I'm comfortable. If I noticed that someone was braiding my hair 'dangerously tight', I'd speak up to avoid permanent damage and baldness. How is someone supposed to know how your head feels unless you speak up and say something? The prices at Djama are beyond reasonable for the stellar work they do. I have always been quoted the same price for all of the services they provide. They also have the prices listed by the receptionist area. Sitou has recently opened a new location in Old Town Gaithersburg (near the post office and Growlers) in addition to the shop in Silver Spring (on Georgia Ave, near 16th Street). Both locations are safe, with ample parking and air conditioning. They have been extremely accommodating when I've had to bring my 18 month old daughter with me and patient and understanding when I needed to take breaks to tend to her. Overall, Djama is a wonderful salon to go to. Sitou and her staff are true professionals with more than ten years of hair maintenance and styling experience. Sitou, you rock! I love my new Ghana braids. I didn't read all of the reviews before finding Djama and might not have been there on a Sunday to get my hair braided if I knew what else to do with it before having to report to work the next day. But, I'm glad Sitou was able to give me nice, big, stylish-looking braids. I didn't like the hour-long wait for another stylist, only to be told that someone else would work on my hair. But since the someone else turned out to be Sitou and she did such a great job (starting right away, picking a hair color to match mine, blow drying my hair to smooth it out even more than I had, showing me the first braid to be sure I liked it, and asking me if the braid was too tight, finishing the braids and bun within an hour), I can forgive the wait. I've gotten lots of compliments over the past few days and my hubby likes my new do, too! read more

I've been to this salon quite a few times. My only complaint is that when you tell them to use less hair, they do it anyway and then say sorry afterwards. However, the styles turn out nicely. Josie is very nice and caring. She has done my cornrows and even helped with braiding. I would definitely recommend this place for braids etc. and the location is great. read more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE: You don't get what you pay or ask for. (1)I wanted shoulder length senegalese twists, I got middle of my back length. (2) I complained the lady braiding around my face is pulling too much, she ignored me and told her co-braider in French that she's not pulling that much, I'm just over reacting. (3) Talking not so nicely about clients in French. Just because I don't speak French does not mean I don't understand it. (4)blaming the customer for their poor quality POOR QUALITY BRAIDS I've been to this salon two times before and it was worth the money and the pain. My most recent visit will be my last ever. In fairness, most of the braiders there and the owner are good. However, beware of the one called Hawa (a tall and dark Senegalese beauty with an attitude to boot). I had her and another braider working on my head and exactly a week after getting braided, the section done by Hawa started falling out. I went back and she redid some of them, but told me it was my fault because I was not supposed to wash it for the first 3 weeks. I exercise three times a week, that's a lot of sweat to leave on my scalp for three weeks! I've gotten senegalese twists before and washed them within the first week and they still lasted upto 8 weeks. It was not my fault! Its a week since she re braided some of the back, but now a third of the back section has completely fallen out, including the ones she "fixed" a week ago when I went back. I wasted $180 and 7 hours of my life for a hairstyle that didn't even make it past two weeks. My advice to you: keep moving and if you decide to go to Djama, consider yourself warned! read more

I had a horrible experience here. I went to Djama yesterday to get individuals. Two ladies braided my hair. One was braiding very tightly and I told her it was too tight and she said she would be easier but she wasn't. They also said they were very tired and were braiding till 11 pm on Saturday. When I was finished it looked good in the front. I was so hot and tired I didn't think to grab a mirror to look at the back. When I got home I looked in the back and it was spaced out so bad. I could see all of my scalp. It looked really bad. It also was so tight. I was in so much pain. I called the owner who wasnt there at the time and she apologized and said she wanted to take a look so they could fix what was wrong. She told me to come Tuesday. I tried to get her to look at it Monday but she couldnt. She said I could go and they would fix but after the experience I wanted the owner there. I asked the owner would they take it out and do it over and she said no. They would just fix whatever sections she thought could be done over. This morning I couldnt sleep and I woke up at 3 am in so much pain I had to take some braids out along the edges. I am taking my braids out now. I wasted my money. I am very upset. I couldnt wait until Tuesday because I was in so much pain. They were too tight and I feared losing my hair. She said she wouldnt do it over and the whole thing needed to be done over. I sent pictures of my hair to an out of town friend that does braids and they were appalled. They could'nt believe how she just put braids anywhere in the back. I will never go here again. I had been at least 4 times before and I didn't have an issue. I dont know why they did that to me. They wouldnt want their hair looking like that. It is so hard to find anyone to braid your hair and do good quality work. They completely ripped me off. I told the owner and the ladies I wanted it full. I was very clear and they ignored me and did what they wanted to do because they were tired. Please beware. read more

I called ahead of time to ensure someone was available and great at micro braids. I was assured that someone would be there and able to take me right away. Upon arrival, I was greeted about 2 minutes later and told to "have a seat". After waiting for about 10 minutes, I asked when someone would be getting started on my hair. Apparently no one believed I'd really come, therefore once I arrived, they had to call in the lady to come and braid my hair. Uuuuggh. One hour later the lady comes to braid my hair. As soon as I sat down in the chair, two braiders began arguing in French, and I mean a loud argument. I then started packing up my stuff and couldn't believe what I was witnessing. That's when one braider walked over to the other and began to beat her senseless. YESSSSSSSSSSS beat her senseless in from of all of the customers. There were children and other customers in there witnessing this in horror. I would never EVER return nor recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

I had a 2:30 appt on a Sat. and much to my surprise they took me exactly when I walked in the door.What I didn't know was the girl assigned to do my senegalese twists didn't know how to twist from the root, so she was actually doing a small braid first and then twisting...no big deal but I would rather they had been up front about this. A second girl, who could twist from the root did the front of my head and the crown. A third girl joined in when the first two got tired! (Make an early morning appt.) The third girl turned me off immediately, when she dropped her comb on the floor and wanted to put in in my head. When I asked her to wash it, she denied it had fallen....really?? I saw it fall! She grabbed a second comb from a nearby statation, which I refused to let her use because someone had just gotten done getting braids and that comb had not been cleaned. DRAMA! At this point, I was starting to get annoyed. She proceeded to work on my head with what I could only hope was a clean comb. Shortly thereafter, I could have swore she had another girl pick up some braid hair off the floor and put it in my head. I could have been seeing things, but I really think she did!! Not cool. I was worried about the hairline and the way the twists would fall, but in the end, they looked great. There are some twists in the back where I can tell they were being lazy and didn't add enough hair because some twists are much shorter than the others, but there are so many twists that they blend in fine. Overall, I would go back because the twists look nice (I'll pay close attention to my hairline to see if I lose any hair) and the price was competitive. The constant talking in French was annoying but expected and tolerable. They really need to work on their cleanliness. I was in and out in about 4 hours, which was great! read more
