The Dome On Nisqualli - Hall Conference Room

The Dome On Nisqualli

I recently visited The Dome on Nisqualli for a private meeting and was happily surprised by the…read morecontemporary facility. The parking lot is very small, and the entrance is narrow. Keep an eye out for it, as the turn-in comes up quickly once you turn right from the street. It's immediately following a traffic light. Since I arrived at night, I couldn't tell whether there was additional parking in the back, but the initial lot is tight, only allowing about 3 or 4 cars. The architecture is unique, and the interior is all-white, quiet, and well-maintained. There is a pedestal sign at the entrance directing you to the rooms. While this is functional, a more modern or clearer directory better matches the building's contemporary vibe. We used a spacious room that featured frosted glass doors for privacy. It was equipped with several chairs, folding tables, and a TV with laptop connectivity--perfect for presentations or board meetings. There was even a countertop area for snacks and coffee. Overall, the space was clean and provided security (there are cameras in the rooms). I would rent here for a meeting, provided the small parking situation isn't an issue for a larger group.

Today, with less than an hour before an important Zoom client meeting, I scrambled to find a quiet, professional space in Victorville and stumbled upon The Dome at the last second. Kurt, the owner, was incredibly accommodating and managed to squeeze me in with a private suite just in time. The WiFi worked perfectly, the space was quiet and comfortable, there were plenty of outlets for my devices, and my meeting went off without a hitch. The hospitality was genuinely wonderful, and it's been tough to find an affordable, reliable place like this up here, so I'll definitely be coming back. If you're a freelancer or remote worker in the High Desert looking for a private workspace with great WiFi and reasonable pricing, The Dome is absolutely worth considering.

Hilton Garden Inn Victorville - Reception

Hilton Garden Inn Victorville

To be fair, the Hilton Garden Inn Victorville is currently undergoing much-needed renovations, but…read moreI am reviewing the hotel as it stands right now. I stay here every couple of months when I'm driving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles at night, because it's a good halfway point. This is a typical roadside hotel and it's definitely not fancy, but it is an okay place to stop for a night while passing through. I am hoping the renovations will make this up to Hilton standards because right now, it is not. The hotel is worn out, especially inside. My room the other night even had a huge hole in the curtain. The furniture has seen better days, there are holes in the walls and tears in the wallpaper. The showers are stained and covered in soap scum, and the hotel provides the cheapest toiletries possible. I think a Hilton should be required to at least provide the upgraded Hilton toiletries, not paper thin soap and low quality shampoo. Unless and until this changes, the toiletries cost the hotel one star. The staff is friendly and the hotel is very clean, it's just old and worn out. The rooms are large and comfortable, with that spacious Garden Inn layout that's perfect for travelers. Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, and amenities like free wifi and free parking. There is a small fitness center, pool and restaurant on property (although I've never seen anyone using any of these). Despite a restaurant in the lobby, the hotel does not offer a free breakfast (even for Hhonors members). You want to eat, you have to pay. There's a small sundries shop in the lobby that's open 24/7 and offers snacks, drinks, and other forgotten items. It's so convenient! The hotel is located right along the I-15 interstate so there are plenty of sit down and quick service places to grab food or drinks before going back to your room. It's not in a fancy location, but I've never felt unsafe staying here even as a female traveling alone. If you're sensitive to noise, be aware that you will get lots of road commotion day and night. That's a caveat of the convenient location next to a busy highway. I'll continue to stay here whenever I need a quick overnight in Victorville, but I do hope the renovations bring a renewed experience. I will report back once the hotel has been fully overhauled!

I've stayed at many Hilton Garden Inns over the years, and this was by far the worst experience…read moreI've had with the brand. While our room itself was cleaned, the rest of the property was in shockingly poor condition. The only working elevator had graffiti carved into it, and the wall inside was peeling almost completely off. Throughout the hotel, there were signs of neglect -- visible damage, graffiti, and sloppy patch jobs covering old leaks. One elevator was out of order all week, and the third floor was an active construction zone. Workers blasted music behind a plastic curtain and tracked white dust through the hallways, which was never cleaned up. The biggest frustration, though, was the lack of 24/7 coffee. Many guests, including us, were traveling from different time zones, and this is a basic amenity at a Hilton Garden Inn. The Keurig in our room didn't work at all, and the front desk showed no interest in fixing it or offering an alternative. For the price we paid, this stay was unacceptable. We've stayed in budget motels that were cleaner, quieter, and far better maintained. Hilton, you can do better. I would not recommend this location to anyone.
