I placed an order with DIY BBQ online and the item shipped quickly. That is about where the good experience ended. While Jennifer in chat was great to deal with, everyone else I dealt with was absolutely terrible. I first tried to get a price match and found that their 100% price match guarantee is more like a 0% guarantee. While the product had shipped, the tracking number they gave me was not correct (it apparently needed an I in front of the number but clicking on the included link took me nowhere). The order status said that the delivery company would call me 24 hours before the delivery to schedule a time. This is also repeated on their site in several places. I finally got an updated tracking number and found that my package was out for delivery. No notice, no email, no phone call. So I get home from being out of town the day it was dropped off and found that it had been raining on the package since it was delivered and that the package is also damaged. I reached out to DIY BBQ the second business day and was told that their policy is 1-3 days I have to report the damage, though their website says 24 business hours, meaning 3 business days. They told me I will have to reach out to the carrier to file a claim however in order to file a claim, I don't have the needed documentation which is only available to the actual shipper. We ordered the DIY BBQ Outdoor fireplace early this year. Due to Covid, we didn't have someone come to work on it for several months. When the construction guys opened the boxes, they found so many missing and wrong parts that they couldn't put it together. I had also ordered the optional 6" hearth which was no where to be found. I contacted the company- which took another month to get any response- and, at first I was told to take pictures, but then they said that it was beyond the 30 day policy so they wouldn't send the missing parts or send me the missing hearth. Several more emails and a request to speak to the owner- who was "on vacation," went ignored. I originally posted this review on their site and they took it down. May 2020 I ordered a pizza oven from DIY. I was told that I would receive in 3 -5 weeks. I did not I called was told that it would be 3 more weeks. Three weeks later still nothing I call and was told 3 more or I could cancel which I did and they did not refund my money. This went on along with many lies about that I would be refunded in 7-10 day for over a month I then disputed through my credit card company. The game was on with DIy more lies. in 2020 ordered a gas fire place from this company despite numerous attempts to get delivery excuses after excuses covid, supply chain then discontinued. customer service was to issue a refund of my $1,174.80 never sent or refunded. now 2022 still trying to get my money back they say order was closed which means it was sent total bs i was robbed do not buy from these people you will never get your items or a refund!!!! read more

Do Not Buy at DIY BBQ. Buyer Beware of Dan. He will rip you off, place double orders and after you have cancelled with every person that answers (if and when someone answers) you still are charged for items. Go to BBQ Galore if you want you item. I get a status of my item is back ordered for 4 weeks. So I cancel my order, because I can't wait that long as construction is already started on my outdoor bbq. After cancelling my order, the following week a huge freight truck comes to my home and is delivering a pallet that weighs over 118 lbs. My order was a bar center that weighed 55 lbs. Obviously, what they sent wasn't what I ordered. They played some trick by sending something else, that if I accepted I would have been stuck with. I can't even give them a star. They ripped me off for over $1800. You should also file a complaint with the BBB, FTC and DCA. read more

This business is a joke. Seriously. Over eight weeks waiting for an order to ship to end up finding out they now don't have an ETA for shipment. My order gets pushed to a manager/owner to look into the delays to then find out my order was abruptly canceled by that manager/owner. This could have been handled differently, but just shows the classlessness of this business. Avoid this vendor to avoid the headaches and take your business to more reputable brokers/vendors for your outdoor needs. I am learning the hard way unfortunately. read more

UPDATE: My order shipped after the owner intervened. I'll update when it arrives. The owner is working on my order personally. I will update once I've received my items. ORIGINAL POST: I ordered four items two weeks ago. All but one item was listed as in stock at the time of my order. Little did I know that they were not planning to ship anything until all the items had arrived. I called and cancelled the item that was holding up my order, and I was told that the other items would ship. I looked online to see if I could track my order, but there was no indication of what was going on with my order. Then I called again. This time I was told that two other items were not available. I insisted that they ship what they had. I was told 8 days ago that it would ship the next day. You can guess what happened next. I called again three days later to find that NOTHING HAD SHIPPED. This time I was told that two of the items would ship the next day. Here we are two weeks later and STILL NOTHING HAS SHIPPED. Of course, it's Friday and I was 'GUARANTEED' (as I was on a previous call) that it would ship "Monday or Tuesday". Same song different verse. A little bit louder and a little bit worse. read more

Holy Moly am I glad I read the reviews. I was stoked to find this company with easy to build kits. First time I called the guy was really nice and helped make some suggestions. I picked out all my stuff and was ready to order. Called the company and they answered "DIY BBQ can we call you back?" - then almost hung up without getting my information. They never called back. It took 3 more days of calling and I finally reached someone. I sent them my CAD drawing and a list of everything I was ready to purchase - They said they will call me within 3 days to deliver quote. I thought this was entirely too long to wait for a quote, but what the heck. Well long story short, I have ordered from another vendor and before even receiving a quote back from DIY BBQ another team has my island assembled! I had shipments from 3 different companies for fridge, drawers and grill back within 3 days and the island built from an AMAZING local contractor. Understanding there may be shipping delays due to Covid, we placed an order for over 4K! 2 months later still no BBQ or refrigerator! We emailed called and left messages hoping to get an ETA. Zero response from Dan the owner! Only after I emailed accusing him of using our money to pay other bills did he call me back! He was upset I accused him of this, but it was the only way to get his attention! He ended up refunding my money and I purchased the same from BBQ Guys and within 9 days received everything!!! I made an order for almost $800 worth of parts on 4/30/20. It took over a month to get the parts. When I called looking for the status I felt like they had an attitude with me and blamed it on Covid. When I finally got the order it was missing $150 worth of the parts I ordered. I have called them probably 10 times looking for the parts. When they actually answer the phone they tell me they will take care of it. They have never done what they said. They have never called or emailed me back. It's 7/22/20 and I still don't have my parts or my money back. I had to file a claim with my bank to get my money back. I have had to go half of the summer already with no BBQ because of this and they could care less. They already have my money! DON'T BUY FROM THESE GUYS!!!! read more

This has been an incredibly frustrating experience. And it is ongoing. I wanted to enjoy the fireplace kit but the assembly keeps getting worse. The frame actually went up fairly painlessly but once the fireplace insert arrived the trouble began. They've proven time and again not have any synergy with the fireplace provider. Their plans and pieces don't mesh with the size of the insert. Then they send me chimney pieces which they recommended yet they are of a design that cannot be fastened to my insert without screwing into the pipe which it obviously says not to do. When I tried to return them they expect me to pay shipping charges for their poor planning. Like I said, I want to like this place but I cannot recommend this place because of the poor designs and lack of support. read more

I agree with other comments. Worst customer service. I paid over $3K for my product. While the product is good, you can't tell which is which and some where not prepared correctly. So I called to get better information - they promise to call and then they don't. I have left several messages with live people - nothing. They said Dan will call back but he doesn't. Just really bad customer service. And there products are horribly marked so you don't know which piece goes where. Lucky I have done this before so I can figure it out. Stay Away!!!!!!!!!! i was ordering an entire outdoor kitchen from BBQ Guys and they didn't have a few of the items in stock so i reached out to them and asked them to confirm that those items were in stock and they insisted that they will call the manufacturer and confirm bec they understood that unless i got all the pieces and were in possession of them the outdoor kitchen couldn't be built. after i placed the order they told me i would receive an email with the shipping confirmation within 3 -4 days. the owner even emailed me to confirm that. three weeks went by and everyday they promised me that the order was being fullfuilled and during the last week they even went so far as to tell me the order was shipped. then finally after three weeks the owner of the company, Dan, called me to le tme know he 'doesnt give a f-ck" and that he was refunding my entire order. stay away from them!!!! dishonest slimeballs. read more

If you order from this company, you better pray you don't have to deal with any customer service issues. It appears the owner, Daniel, has anger issues and has no respect at all for his customers. I can't imagine how he treats his staff. On February 2, 2021, I placed on order for two 6ft outdoor kitchen island frames and several cut out kits. About 10 days later my order arrived with several parts missing including 2 frame braces. On February 13, 2021 I sent an email to DIYBBQ informing them of the missing parts and requesting replacement parts. I received no reply, no confirmation of receipt. I then called their 800 number and spoke to a very nice you lady who told me that the email on the website goes directly to the owner and he hardly looks at the emails so she asked me to send the email directly to her and she would get the parts out to me. And so I waited. After not receiving replies to my various emails and not receiving the missing parts, I again emailed DIYBBQ requesting the missing parts and even offering to pay for expedited shipment. In the last email I sent, I used the email chain that started with my original order and continued through all the requests for the missing parts. This time I finally received a response from what I know understand was the Owner, Daniel. His response? "What 2 braces are you referring to?" I was shocked. First of all, all the information was right there in the email chain, from the original order, to the pictures of the frame that arrived, to the missing parts. I replied, "Excuse me? The 2 braces that were missing from my order. The ones I called about and was told they were mailed out and I should have them in 2 days. That was last Monday and they still haven't arrived." Again, I received no reply so I sent an email threating to file a dispute through my payment company. The next day I called about my parts again and a very nice lady was attempting to help me when Daniel took the phone and in an extremely angry torn told me, "You know what? You want to file disputes, then send me back my frames. You want to be a tough guy and file disputes? You could have had a beautiful kitchen at a great price but now you can pay someone $20k to build it for you, how does that sound tough guy?" I was shocked and speechless. I could not believe he was speaking to a customer this way and upset because of an issue they created and made worse by not following through and making it right. I won't go into everything that Daniel said to me but I grew up in New York and he reminded me of some the characters in knew in Brooklyn, it was truly surreal. In short, Daniel is making me send back the frame kits I ordered, and at my request, he cancelled another pending order I had placed with them. The sad part of all this is that their frames are a really great solution to a DIY outdoor kitchen and actually a lot of fun to put together. The the customer service and the owner are totally on another level horrible. I can't image working for this man. Since my phone call with Daniel I have since researched his company and found a string of bad reviews, mostly all related to Daniel himself and/or the customer service DIYBBQ provides. Bottom line, great product but you better hope everything arrives as it should because if you have to deal with any customer service issues, your experience will go south very, very quickly. P.S. There were other parts missing from my shipment, specifically, 3 metal studs but I discovered these missing after I had already requested the missing braces so I was going to buy these parts locally to not deal with DIYBBQ. Also, I had sent DIYBBQ my outdoor kitchen configuration and equipment list for them to recommend the frames I would need. They recommended two 2 ft frames modules, WRONG? You can't fit a 40ft Lion Grill and a Lion 2 burner drop in on a 6ft frame. Like is said, products are good, company is very bad. They really don't know what they are doing. read more

My experience with DIYBBQ was poor also. It started with me having to argue with Dan about the price of a product that was listed on his website. The original price had a red line through it and a new price below. He told me that the price had went back to original but his website didn't reflect that. Finally I was able to get the parts for the advertised price. When they arrived the two "discounted" pipes were damaged. I sent pictures in and they had two new ones resent. Of course I waited 3 weeks to get the new parts. I called a few times to check on the order and had to keep bugging them. When I placed my original order he said that there were 122 pieces in inventory but it still took 3 weeks for the replacements arrived. Guess what? They came in damaged as well. I don't think that anyone wants to spend $1100 on anything just to have to beat the dents out of it prior to use no matter what they are buying. I reached out to them again to let them know that my replacement shipment was damaged to see what they would do. They weren't interested in being accountable or making the supplier accountable either. I know this isn't Amazon but a little better customer service would go a long way. They aren't focused on any repeat business. As long as they get your money once, they got it. Won't ever consider them for another purchase! Shame on you Dan! read more
