This year (2025-2026) she was technically supposed to be in TK because her birthday fell just after the cutoff for Kindergarten but we requested a kindergarten readiness assessment at our local public school and she passed with flying colors! I truly believe her success is a direct reflection of the wonderful teachers and curriculum at TFH Preschool. The staff and teachers are patient, nurturing, and genuinely invested in each child's growth. They provided the perfect balance of learning and play, building my daughter's confidence, independence, and love for school. My most favorite part was the faith-based learning; the kids practiced praying, learned how to pray for one another, and were encouraged to show kindness and gratitude every day. TFH didn't just prepare her academically, they helped her thrive socially and emotionally too. She made beautiful friendships, learned responsibility, and looked forward to going to school. We are beyond grateful for the foundation TFH Preschool gave her. It's clear that the care, structure, and creativity of this school set her up for success in kindergarten this year. I would highly recommend TFH Preschool to any family looking for a warm, enriching, and truly exceptional early learning experience!

We visited UC Davis so my daughter could take a look at the campus. It's one of the schools she is…read moreconsidering applying to. This is the largest and most spread out campus we visited. There is a lot of walking involved. This is the place to rack up Fitbit steps. Many students ride their bikes around campus, and there are many bike circles (roundabouts) at intersections to help keep traffic flowing smoothly. I think everyone should come here to learn how to manœuvre around a roundabout (especially people who shop at Costco Santa Clara because they can not figure out the new roundabout they installed in the parking lot). The campus has changed quite a bit over the decades. There are many new buildings, and many old ones being demolished. There is a large new visitor parking lot and a nice Visitor Center near it. The visitor center is a good place to grab a map and make a comfort stop before exploring the campus. You can also schedule a tour before you arrive. There is a mini gift shop at the Visitor Center. I suggest going to the store at the MU for a larger selection of gifts and souvenirs. Check out the arboretum (near the Visitor Center) if you have time. The Memorial Union is the center of the universe. You'll find student services, a place to pick up or return Amazon packages, the bookstore/gift shop, the game room (it's downstairs; has bowling, billiards and gaming computers), and most importantly food and coffee. Another place to find food is at the Silo, where there are some food vendors indoors and food trucks outdoors. We visited various dorm buildings on campus and also off campus housing. We even saw cows near Tercero (dorm). And also checked out downtown Davis, which is no longer the "sleepy" downtown I remembered it to be decades ago. There's definitely a wider variety of restaurants in Davis today. Trader Joe's is near campus, how cool is that? The Chem 194 building (large lecture hall) has been renamed to Rock Hall. The steps out front leading up to the front doors seem much shallower than I remembered them to be. In my mind, the steps were more numerous, similar to the steps in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (think: Rocky movie). Ok, my memory must be fuzzy, after all, it was a long time ago since I was an undergrad here.... This would be a good place to go for the college town experience, with the pleasant side effect of graduating with a decent education... but does this really matter? How many of us go on to do something that is related to what we studied in college? It's more about the journey, the experiences we have and the people we meet along the way. .

First things first: I certainly didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either…read more Pros: clean, great toys and play areas, lots of classes, and absolutely incredible crafts. Mrs. Cindy is wonderful. The office staff is helpful. I appreciated that they did a weekly bible lesson with the kids. The events were very sweet. Cons: When they advertise they believe in play... They mean it. There is very little to no formal teaching done here. I suppose that this is ok if that's what you want... but coming from another pre-k where there was more of a balance between learning and play I felt like this was just glorified day care. Pick up/drop off made me feel like cattle. It's truly awful. Parents are made to wait in line and it takes FOREVER to drop off and then later receive your child. I also felt like there was not enough discipline and teachers didn't want to correct bullyish children. Time after time I would hear from my daughter and her friends about how aggressive a boy was to her and others in the class and the staff wouldn't do anything about it. When I brought it up to the staff they said "yes we are aware he has some aggression, and we talk to him about his choices." Um.... Okay. The issues continued throughout the year so I don't think talking to him helped, nor did it make other kids feel heard. That was irresponsible, and in my opinion PEP should have sent the kid packing. Another thing: the dreaded snack schedule. There are very specific rules about what you can bring and what you cannot... I appreciate that they don't want the kids to be consuming tons of sugar and candy. I can understand requesting that things like cookies and brownies not be brought. I was baffled at how often they allowed homemade muffins to be brought in (no nutrition label, high sugar). Muffins are essentially cake without frosting so this seems particularly hypocritical. Not only that, but my daughter has a severe corn allergy and was once fed a corn bread muffin another parent brought in. They were sincerely apologetic, and even called later to check on her. I know accidents happen, but if they would have had a muffin (or no homemade) ban this would have been avoided. Lastly, they are parking Nazis. I once was walking into the school with my arms full of grocery bags filled with healthy snacks, my 4 year old holding onto my arm, and a crying 2 year old who I had just woken out of a dead sleep tearing at me like a freaked out cat. I clearly could have used a hand and some grace. Instead, a woman came running out and told me to move my car which was in fact, legally parked but not in a space as I was planning on being in & out. The loving thing would have been to say "do you need some help? Let me grab one of those bags for you!". Instead, I was told to move my car immediately. So with my youngest child screaming bloody murder on my hip, my arms overflowing with a gallon of milk and 2 bags of groceries and a 4 year old at my side, I told the sassy office woman "not now, I'll be back in 2 minutes", went in, dropped off my stuff, and walked quickly back to my car feeling embarrassed and angry. Overall, I think PEP is ok. There's a huge wait list and so many people sing it's praises. Unfortunately, I think that's a lot more hype/eliteness talk then anything else. Because of our experience, we chose not to enroll my younger daughter here this year.

I love PEP. My two boys have had an amazing preschool experience here. I can drop off my children…read moreinto loving and caring arms, what more can you ask for?
