After…read morevisiting two other nearby shops, which I didn't like, I looked at reviews and saw that CG&G had a Black manager and good reviews, so I decided to have it shipped here. At first I was going to wait for my husband to get home so he could go with me (because of my other experiences), but decided to go on my own based on the positive reviews. As soon as I got back in my car I texted him "That was the oddest, in a good way, experience. I feel like I just left a bookstore." As soon as I walked in I saw that all the customers and employees had masks on, there were signs about COVID-19, people were social distancing, and sanitizer, cleaner, etc. were on the counters. The two other shops, not so much. Covid aside, the place was just clean, well organized, and felt like a high end camping/outfitters shop. I said to Akeem, "Your shop is really different. I feel like I'm buying a kayak or something. There's no dead animals or NRA signs on the walls, the customers are relaxed, neither of the other employees tried to sell me anything pink." The other shops just had an icky vibe, like you're there to hurt/kill things. Akeem's shop is non-threatening, non-aggressive, the employees are very helpful and not dicks to women, it's just different in an amazing way (especially to a newbie that's still not super comfortable, but I'm learning it's the other kind of people I'm not comfortable with). The next day my husband and I went back so I could shop for accessories, and he needed some ammo. He was also shocked at the chill atmosphere and how helpful everyone was. We talked to Akeem and the other employees for a while, got good information, got everything we needed, and most importantly finally found a place we want to support. They also give veterans 10% off so he was happy about that. TLDR: Great shop for folks who don't watch FOX News.

Bigger stores often don't stock C&R firearms, or won't let you inspect them to your satisfaction, or sometimes are even rude in their customer service, but by far, my experience at Horse Shoe Firearms has been extremely pleasant and has led me to purchase some great finds! The resident collector and salesman at the store is very knowledgeable and we often compare our recent acquisitions. One of my favorite past-times is coming in and having an academic discussion about WW2 Arisaka Bolt Action rifles with Colt here at the store, and it's nice to actually see and hold different examples he has come across available in the store. Their store is small, but they have a vast array of firearms and ammunition from modern to antique. If they don't have it, they can definitely get it for you, and their customer service in selecting products is second-to-none. After a few weeks I called on the status and was told I would get a call back by noon of that day with an update. No call. I called them and I was told that the part would be ready to go the following week on Tuesday. I called Tuesday morning at 10:50 AM; the part was supposed to be ready and I was told the part was not ready. I was not given a new time. I told the customer service representative that I needed to talk to the gunsmith. After a 3 minute wait, the store owner got on the phone and explained his gunsmith quit and when I pressed him about my part, he looked around and it was obvious it was the first time he looked at it since he signed it into his store inventory 3 weeks prior. The owner gave me some sort of BS response and said he would get to it. I told him I needed a time/date it would be ready. It is supposed to be ready tomorrow. We will see. The owner did say that he could not get to it today and if I wanted to take somewhere else I could. That was very nice of the owner to make that offer considering he held my firearm part for 3 weeks to allow it to collect dust and be forgotten. This so far has been one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever had the unfortunate luck to experience in Hendersonville, NC. I was lied too on several occasions and there was zero follow-up with the customer. If you have a gunsmith need, I would highly suggest taking your business to another company.

I will try and make this a balanced review because it's really a story with two sides…read more First, the good. The product selection is good, guns, ammo, accessories. As far as service, the range staff is top notch! Friendly, helpful, quick, attentive, commanding when they need to be. I go often and they always do a great job! Now, the bad. The service at the main checkout is the worst ever. Sometimes, they're just ignorant, which shouldn't happen with a gun shop. Basic questions cannot be answered. Other times, they're downright rude and refuse to help. One example, I bought a certain ammo one week and came back the next week to buy more but couldn't find it. So, I wanted some help to make sure I wasn't overlooking something. The guy at the counter said all ammo was on the shelves and then literally refused to help me look. This should not happen in a small shop. Even big box staff is more helpful. As for the gun counter, overall they are helpful in attitude, but their arrogance can be so high that they don't help beginners with humility and kindness. Almost like, "Who would buy that? Or everyone knows this." I don't think they're intentionally being rude, but unintentionally not humbling themselves to the level of the customer to understand their needs, budget, etc. Overall, I go there often for shooting, but I try to buy everything elsewhere. They would do well to have a rep in the store who is there to help people in the store itself, like Ace H.
