Stumbled across this place while looking for a few cassoulet restaurants in the area. Enjoyed the…read moreambiance (a mixture of funky, traditional and very relaxed, like Toulouse itself) and decided to stay. The violette kir was delicious and dry and the house red had a good spicy bite to it. Try both of these. Had two salads, one with smoked bacon (lardons) and cheese, which was pretty tasty and the other with tiny whole squids and roasted peppers over a green salad. Both were fine but think that grilling the squids would have really punched up the flavor of the second salad. Mains were cod with chorizo and garlicky pesto served over zucchinis and cassoulet, Toulouse-style. The fish was excellent; nice and light and the pesto had a good bite to it. Would certainly recommend it to someone looking for a filling but non-heavy place. The cassoulet was a bit on the dry side (perhaps the beans are often served al dente?) but the Toulouse sausage was a nice treat. It's not often that one eats a sausage spiced with nutmeg. Dessert was the apple tart with blood orange sauce; a nice light bite to the meal. If one is unsure about what to eat, get the cafe gourmand as it allows you to sample three desserts along with an espresso. Overall, I would certainly come back to try more things on the menu, just to see how it all compares. If they served the cassoulet sausage grilled by itself, would certainly order that. I don't think I'd ever be blown away by this place, but it does appear reliable enough to give you a good meal at a decent price, and sometimes that's all one needs.
