Mainly because they have large, impeccable avocados for prices that are sometimes cheaper than what you'll find in the vega (I'm still not 100% convinced that they aren't involved in some kind of avocado smuggling ring..only slightly kidding) Besides being my go-to avocado spot, San Juan is like a mini feria in our neighborhood (a great place to go when you can't make it to the vega). They are family owned and even have their 2 year old daughter running around "helping". San Juan offers fresh fruits and veggies at prices cheaper than what you will find in the supermarkets down the road. They also offer eggs, milk, cheese and deli meats as well as canned goods. Plus, they have a large selection of liquor including "champagne", wine and pipeño. Tip: They usually run out of bread early in the day but sometimes they have some fresh in the back.
