Idk what it's called but it grows out in a flattering way and we don't have to come back every 6 weeks to trim it, so that's a win. Now-onto the best reason to come to Cost Cutters: Danielle. First, I've never met a nicer person who is so willing to just...listen to what bad or imperfect situations I've had, and to make sure to NOT repeat those with her. I asked a styling at a different location to cover up my 10 gray hairs...she dyed my head blackish brown. I have medium brown hair. I told Danielle this and she immediately mixed THREE colors to get the root color perfect and just touched up my roots. She showed me FIFTEEN color swatches and told me how they would blend, lift over time, work with my original hair color and grow out, etc. Second- I have a cowlick at the exact crown of my hair. I've been told to "rat it", back-comb it, and treat it with tea tree oil. So none of those worked obviously. She helped me style it with heat and a blow dryer and showed me what it looked like combed straight back (yes I tried combing it back, but did not use heat, etc which worked!!!!!). Third, my hair gets goofy in the humidity. I'm talking like...if there's one later in my hair, my hair is like 3 inches wide on each side and looks like a puffed up marshmellow. She listened to what iw as saying and added more layers to make sure it would lay flatter in the humidity of the summer. Fourth- after being dyed darker than my original hair against my will multiple times, I asked her to get the red out of my hair (it ALWAYS lifts red in the sun during summer) and help me do a subtle blond. I didn't know what I meant by that. I just told her that I used to be outside all the time and my hair had natural blond streaks that I miss (and the brown was lighter). She looked up inspiration pics and we decided on baleyage or however you spell it. I was so worried throughout the whole process that I would looked box dyed blond. But omg. Guys.....it took a few hours to lift and foil but she put in the WORK. It cost me $150 to go lighter, with highlights, shampooed, styled, and cut. Seriously, I don't remember my hair ever looking this amazing or FEELING this good. And did I mention I had to reschedule like 3 times because my kids were sick at daycare, my son had swim lessons amd we didn't have enough time, etc. She didn't make me feel bad, she just DID IT. Talking with her is so positive and helped the time fly. She is so sweet amd asks questions and listens. I just love her. I will continue to ask for her until I die. W BTW the pic is from AFTER running around to appointments, running through the rain, working on the door jam, and cooling supper so give me a break. It was like 6 hrs later.

I told Laura Hepp (Peace Salon) inside Sheer Class that I didn't want much cut off! My friend told her I didn't want much cut off. I told her about past horror stories about other stylists who had cut 12, 18, even 27 inches off without asking AFTER being told NOT TO and she chopped between 8 and 12+ inches off!!! I said nothing past my bra line and the shortest piece is above my shoulders!!! I've had better haircuts at Cost Cutters and even Mid State!! I HATE having hair in my face which is why I had long hair!! NOW it's in my face ALL the time and there's nothing I can do about it! It's not even long enough to put in a ponytail! I told her I didn't like it parted down the middle and she parted it down the middle. I told her I wanted Hollywood hair, hair like hers, and interview-ready hair. I got none of those. I told her I wanted bangs and she flat out refused. I told her I wanted to start doing my hair nice again. How am I supposed to do that now?!!! It doesn't look any different on top than it did prior except now it's super short, over layered, looks like I don't have much hair at all, and looks like I'm 6. I walked in with a wet head and told her I just got out of the shower and didn't need it washed. She insisted and washed it again anyway. THEN she blew it dry and then tried to comb it out with a fine-toothed comb causing multiple knots and instead of trying to comb them out, she just cut them out!!! She combed it from the top rather than from the bottom moving up! I have fine hair and that is NOT how you comb ANYone's hair let alone mine! She NEVER showed me with a mirror where she intended to cut it though I said nothing above my bra and she chopped the hell out of it!! She never showed me what it looked like even AFTER she was supposedly done and NEVER asked me if Iiked it because she KNEW what she did! Another client was already waiting because she only allotted me a half hour!!! It'll be 5-10 years before it'll be as long again!!!! She told me she was going to show me something called texturizing powder and paste and she never did. When I first sat down she asked if we should really do it up to show a friend of mine. When did she plan on doing that?!!! I can barely put my hair in a ponytail and it's so thin now that the hair ties are too big! There aren't any smaller I can use! I wanted it trimmed and evened up which I should have just done myself! NOW, no one else can fix it because there's nothing left to fix! It's all gone!! She didn't listen to ANYthing I said!!! If she didn't have time for me and didn't want to do what I wanted, she should have said so right off the bat and I would have never come in!!! I've NEVER had my hair cut and NOT had my hair styled, shown to me, explained how to do it, and asked if I like it?! She put a blob of mousse in it fluffed it up and that was it. It had no more "body" than it normally does without it other than a few pieces were sticking up!!! She actually wanted me to come back for a consult!!! What the hell for! You can't put the hair back on and I don't want her anywhere near my hair again or I won't have any at all!!!!! My hair was literally the ONLY thing I liked about myself and now it's gone! I've been bawling since. It actually makes me sick to my stomach to look in the mirror now. I don't even want to leave the house. I told her my dad died last year and things have been hard, and that I wanted to look pretty again and start fresh. This is the opposite. I am so pissed, upset, extremely sad, and completely devastated. I will probably NEVER get my hair cut again. She should NOT be doing ANYone's hair if she won't listen or do what they want! I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I can't stop crying. She didn't even offer to give me my money back, only to come back and spend more money for her to do more things to it. NO! Never again. :'(

I usually go the The salon at Midstate for my perms. As a retired beautician I know they use the…read moretop of the line perm and I get it there for less than a third of the cost at a in-town salon. The students are checked by the instructor at every step so I am assured of proper rolling of rods, prep and application of chemicals. One must be patient. They are students and few are up to the speed they will have once they graduate. My first perm there took 4 hours. The next time I was fed and emotionally prepared but the student had more floor time and it only took 3 hours total from the time I sat down in the chair. Although the students work on manikin heads if they don't have a client it is important for them to interact with a live person to hone their multitasking skills of conversation while providing a service. It's a win/win arrangement unless you have money to burn and even then, who doesn't like a well preformed service at a discount price.
