We had a great experience looking at the works of many artists. The woman who greeted us was sweet…read moreand knowledgeable in the artists represented. There's a stay of artists which is nice because it's perspective that leads you to find the piece meant for you. Of course I adored the Wyland 'Starry night " and Sea of Cortez. These pieces are spectacular. No pressure, just kind sharing of artist information. Recommend.

Wyland Galleries in Lake Tahoe is a very pricy art gallery with some unique pictures and…read moresculptures. They don't allow photos so it's kind of ridiculous for me to describe what I saw but I'll give it a try. Best you go there yourself. Wyland himself is best known for his Whaling Wall murals and sea life conservation efforts. There was a thick glass coffee table supported by what seemed like a dolphin or whale base which I believe was by Wyland. There were two other types of animal sculptures that I found to be delightful: a large, almost life-sized metal dog with extra long legs and many smaller, very colorful animal pieces made with various found objects. One looked like it had a body part made using part of an ice cream cone. Art is meant to be seen and my descriptions can't possibly do them justice. Another artist, Oryan, does something called liquid fusion. It's quite a complicated process. I did take a picture of a poster about him, just not the actual art. Even if these works of art are out of your price range as they are mine, it's still fun to admire the talent of these artists.

I've visited Pacific Crest Gallery three times (twice in March and once in April), and the…read moreexperiences were noticeably inconsistent in a way that felt uncomfortable. On my first visit, when I was dressed casually (hoodie and jeans), I was followed closely around the gallery. On later visits, when I was dressed more formally for dinner and evening activities, that behavior stopped. During those visits, I also observed the staff hovering closely over customers who appeared to be people of color or dressed more casually, while others were given more space. The overall demeanor felt stiff and curt, which added to the unease. On one visit, my niece and brother-in-law, both people of color, remarked that they felt uncomfortable and as if they were being watched in a way that discouraged them from staying. I also noticed some visitors leaving quickly after being closely monitored. Taken together, these experiences created an atmosphere that didn't feel welcoming or relaxed. A gallery should be a place where people can browse comfortably, and a more consistent and inclusive approach to customer interaction would make a big difference. It is important to note that the staff member in question was the same woman in each of these occasions. We won't give this shop another chance.
