If it was possible they would receive negative stars from me for how I was treated during my last and final conversation with them. Their "customer service" is garbage. Not only did they tell me my bill would not change when my promotion ended but despite having a chat transcript that proved this they still wouldn't refund me the full amount owed. The "best" they could do was give me 50% back of what I was over charged and prolong my "promotion" for another 12 months. Beware! Directv FALSE advertising and misleading. The ads they run for $ 29.99, $39.99 or $49.99 for 12 months may fool you. Often they will promise this but once your billing starts it will jump up much more. Keep in mind the programming should be included or the equipment might as well be rocks. Be careful when you add a receiver more than what package offers as this will be additional including the Non HD boxes. I was told $49.99 a month yet they started charging my credit card $80. Here's their trick, call them to resolve and they will make adjustment while your in 30-60 day cancellation allowance. Once that passes they will stick to you saying you can not cancel. Make sure you get everything up front as their customer service promises seem to mean nothing. Well here we go. Where to begin. 1. Received a pamphlet in my door with a promotion that included getting a $100 Visa gift card if I signed up. Was already planning on signing up so I called the next day and did so. Received my gift card, it was only $25. Called and asked why this was they said they never offered a $100 promotion. Took a picture of the pamphlet and emailed it to the guy I was talking to and he responded (oh that's old). Had an offer good til date 2 months out. Whatever, still signed up. 2. Was told the only offer/promotion for me was to get an iPad from them and my second year of Sunday Ticket would be free. Did not accept. Was not offered, even after asking, if any other promotions were going on or if I was under any promotion. 3. 10 months go by pretty good for the most part. Service would cut in and out occasionally (not when it was storming) but still overall decent. Month 11 comes around and I get a letter stating that I am losing my $44 discount come month 13. This was around the same time they auto charged me for Sunday Ticket (second year). Call them and tell them I'm not paying for Sunday ticket and losing my $44 discount (which I still didn't know why I was losing it). Asked the guy if I was in fact losing my $44 discount and he very clearly told me no I was not. That it was valid for 24 months (which is exactly what my bill said). So I sign up for Sunday Ticket. My bill clearly states $44 off $108 11 of 24. Implying that I have 24 months of the discount. Not to mention their Red Zone channel, which is pretty much all I watch, was not working at all last weekend but I received no letter or notice from them as to why. WAs just stuck watching a black screen. 4. Month 13 rolls around and wouldn't you know it, $44 discount is gone. This is where it gets good. I call someone last night, very rude guy, initially wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor. finally he was going to transfer me but told me the discount was gone and that they are receiving high call volumes and the wait may be long. This was 8:30pM on a Tuesday night (PST). I got ahold of this guy in 5 seconds so I doubt their supervisor was crazy busy. Sat on hold for 30 MINUTES!!!! Finally hung up. 5. Called right back. Got a very nice gentleman who told me that I in fact should get the $44 discount and he will transfer me to the person that can put it back on my account. Awesome. Transfers to a very nice lady who also told me I should get the discount but that she was not able to do so. That the Loyalty Department (which was closed at the time) has to do it. She put a note in my account saying to put the discount back and gave me a number to call the next day to finalize it. Hang up. Little frustrated at this point but overall I'm semi happy. 6. Call the number the next day (today) and guy who gets on can't help me. Has to transfer me to someone else which is fine. Get another lady on the phone who was nice but ultimately told me the other two were wrong and that I don't get that discount. That I'm stuck paying the extra $44 a month. After they nickel and dime me, and I constantly buy NFL Sunday Ticket, Every PPV (this bill alone had $190 in PPV events), and after I have been with them for 10+ years this is how they treat their customers. Either their employees are not trained well enough, don't care, or whatever the case may be. Long story short, cancelled my service. Paid the $200 cancellation fee and Dishnetwork will be scheduled very shortly to come out to my house. Done with DTV. IF you absolutely must sign up with them, I highly recommend you write down every person's name and badge number. Or maybe just do their chat support so you can print the transcript out. Direct TV is a dishonest, unethical and unprofessional company. I am very disappointed. On 05/10/2017, I reviewed my credit profile and noticed I had a hard inquiry that was created on my credit report on 02/02/2017 by Direct TV. I never inquired any services with this company. I reach out to them right away. I spoke with a Rep by the name of Robert and he advised me that he would take care of this issue right away. He created a case, provided the case number to me (which was a false case number), provided me their phone number and Equifax's phone number, and advised me of a 4-5 business day timeframe. Last night, 07/11/2017, I reviewed my credit profile and immediately noticed that the hard inquiry with Direct TV was still on my report. I reached out to the company again. After being disconnected twice, being transferred to the incorrect departments and speaking with a Customer Service Floor Lead, Vincent, I got nowhere. I decided to let it go and call this morning. I spoke with two individuals in the Fraud Dept. The first Rep was a woman who had very poor customer centric skills and advised that there was no Robert in that department, the case number I had was not correct, the turn around time is I was informed was incorrect, and then, she disconnected after I began addressing my concerns once I learned all that she shared with me. Then, I spoke with Eli who had to create a new case, advised me of the correct steps that would occur for me, submitted a ticket and advised me that I will receive a letter within seven to ten business days. I will never do business with Direct TV and I will never recommend this horrific company to a loved one. They make you talk to them, and then... get this - they HANG UP on you! TWICE!!!! I talked to Margo, she was going to drop my price from $93 a month to $45. I said no. She said, "Wait! How about $15 a month?" I said no. She didn't like that... put me on hold. Came back and said, "Are you sure you don't want it for $15 a month?" Again, I tell her no. She hung up on me!!! I tell him no thanks, I don't want to talk to you. I want a Sup or Manager. He puts me on hold for over 5 minutes (without coming back on the line), then tells me his Sup is on lunch. I tell him... Johnny, I don't need YOUR Sup, just any Sup will do. He puts me on hold again and then after another 5 or so minutes, disconnects me. THANKS! The great part - they verify your phone number so that they can call you back in case of a disconnect, LOL!!! No phone call back. I call back once more, talk to Shamontae. Nice lady in South Carolina. She gets it. She hears my plea... she gets a Sup for me. I did have to wait 30 minutes but she got a Sup. Pete is his name. Very distracted guy. I got the impression that he was TRYING to multi-task - maybe playing a game on his free phone or something, I don't know. Anyway, he was useless. I THINK he did manage to cancel my account but he did not appease me at all. No skills. I first cancelled my account because hubby and I are doing an experiment with streaming services. We WERE going to try Direct Now. And we were possibly going to go back to Directv if the experiment didn't work, but after this lack of service experience, no dice. Well this is round 5 or 6....less than 2 years and error 771 every time, loss of signal on satellite 1.....basically the dish goes out of alignment every 3-4 months with no wind, weather, or anything touching it. Called it in yesterday and was given a 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM window a tech would be out to fix the issue....cancelled a shopping trip with my wife and NO CALL/NO TECH. So I just called DirecTV and after the automated call tree chase for 15 minutes, I'm told their system is totally down, the agent can't pull up any info on my account or the service call that was ignored today, and he can't offer any help or reschedule the repair. He said he is sorry but call back after 06:00 Eastern time tomorrow when the system is rebooted. All I can say is Yelp's inability to award 0 stars is BS! This is a 0 star service absolutely.......if you opt for DirecTV network you deserve the lousy service and aggravation you will surely get....it is a service for MORONS ONLY! I want to compliment a Direct TV employee CRISPIN MEJIA on his outstanding work that was completed today 06/22/18. First I must say we have had four other technicians working on this same problem since 05/23/18 without any success. This technician comes in and the first thing he does is check the dish, keeping in mind its 103 deg today, then he's up in the attic, completing some wiring, after four (4) hours the job was complete and we were overjoyed we finally had a TV that was working. Today I learned that I am to pay a fee $5.00 if I want a human being to process my payment. I had been on autopay for years. My credit card had expired and I hadn't noticed, so I had a balance. I called this morning to fix it. I was informed of the fee and I objected. I think it is absurd (RUDE!) to charge me extra for wanting to pay my bill. I was told I had to pay on line to avoid the fee. I've been a customer of DirectV for since the early 2000's. I found this unwillingness to serve me hurtful and offensive. One rep told me the problem was with combined billing and this credit was paid to AT&T which I owed. Then, after being transferred again they tell me I will receive the money back. I was contacted by directv and told that I would receive free premium programming for a year. There was no solicitation of money or information, they already knew who I was and did not request anything from me. It all sounded fine. When I got home I checked my TV and did not have the channels they said I would have, so I called them. During the call they stated that they were unaware of the previous call, and that my bill was completely unchanged. I hung up, but then started getting premium channels. When I called back, they said they would remove them and give me a credit. They did not. I am now billed for channels I did not ask for and can not get rid of. I have called 2 more times and each time I get told that my bill will not change. I have received my bill and it is clear that they are charging me for something I did not ask for and do not want. Without a doubt they hire the inept and incompetent. I had their service for 14 years. I decided to switch to a better deal with another carrier. Given this, I needed to return their equipment. I spoke with seven people over 8 days before I received the correct information. They kept telling me I needed a return "kit". Which I found out was nothing more than a shipping label (which I never received). I contact a person via Chat Room, and learned all I needed was my acct # and go to a UPS store. At & T and Directv have swindled me. They didn't remove a receiver from my account that I returned in 2009. For all those years, I paid $7.00 a month until I accidentally found out that I was still being charged for that receiver. When we got rid of the receiver, I followed all the directions I was given; they just did not remove it from my account. I spent over 3 hours on the phone with them and at one point, I was told that I should have read my bill better. Have you read bills from AT & T? They are easier now, but over the years, there is so much on there and it is so confusing that I don't have the time to go through the bill line by line. I just want to trust that what they are charging me is the correct amount. I was also told that I could call them for help in reading the bill. I am not a moron, I can read the itemized bill, but should I have to? Yes, it's confusing, but bottom line, I am not calling them every month to explain my bill. I don't have that kind of time. In the end, they gave me two premium channels for three months, which I suspect they would give to anyone who calls and asks about specials. They credited me $70, which is a far cry from the $924 that I overpaid. AT & T is a huge company; they could have done more for me. Time to find a better way to watch tv. The stories with Directv only gets better. Called Directv back a week later and though it was only an inquiry as far as pricing, I got such a deal that I HAD to say Yes and Sign up. But, alas, the promises made as far as offers seems to have just been a bait and switch. 1.) They offered a gift card. 2.) They offered a SECOND gift card as a special limited time bonus - just had to get the installers name, ID and paperwork and go to the redeem section of directv. 3.) My first year was at a decent price and the second year was even LOWER.... Such deals I didn't want to call back as I had planned if I were interested in signing up, so I said yes.... Well, a big mistake. Currenlty awaiting the first gift card and I have no info on it currently - no emails telling me about when to expect it etc. They claim that there was no 2nd gift card, but I kept notes and asked about it 3 times...and then transcribed the notes for future reference. I will also bet that when I enter my 2nd year, that the price quoted me which was lower than my first year, will actually be higher - as they probably won't honor that promise either. I have all the info written down in my notebook as I talked to and signed up with the rep.... I have spent more time on this than the gift cards are worth. If they are not allowed to honor THEIR contact/offers, then I don't feel I am really under contract with them and can leave at any time. In order for the contract to be valid, they have to honor their promises and I will honor the contract. If I could give Direct TV zero stars I would. That's how awful this company is. It all started when I 1st got the service. I was switching cable and internet companies and they promised that I could get the TV service and internet service so I signed there contract. When the installer arrived he knew nothing about the internet service. So I called and they informed me that internet wasn't in my area after I had wasted a few hours talking to several people. So I was locked into a contract that had no internet like I was promised. Then direct TV charged me $4.99 a month for several months for a package I didn't even order. So I called and they cancelled it and gave me a credit after again spending hours on the phone trying to resolve this. The following month I get a bill for $135 when my bill is supposed to be $87.99 with a $27 credit for the package I didn't order. I called several times and spoke with several agents, spending hours on the phone each time. Each time the agent assured me that they were nothing my account. One of the agents spoke to the accounting department and said that yes I was correct, the bill was incorrect and that on my next months bill I would have a credit for the erroneous charges. Surprise! I look at my bill this month and it wasn't fixed. So again I called and the agent just kept telling me I owed $135 for last month's bill. I told her to look at the notes and she informs me that there are no notes on my account. By this time I'm extremely irritated because I've spent a total of 10 hours on the phone trying to resolve this. The agent was rude and just kept repeating that I owed $135 for last months bill plus a $5 late fee! So I ask to speak to a manager and she tells me sorry they will have to call me back. When I asked how long until I get a call back she says a few minutes. It's now been a few hours. Do NOT do business with these guys. They are scammers! I'm going to spend the rest of my morning finding a better TV and internet company. These guys are a joke. Oh! Direct TV utilizes out of country customer service. By the time they transfer you to the department you need, they leave you totally frustrated. Happens more than it should. No wonder I am frustrated with Direct TV. The 1st rep didn't understand me (Asia),2nd rep(Asia) was confused, 3rd rep(Caribbean) forwarded my call to a fax machine, 4th rep hung up on me and 5th(Caribbean)rep put the phone down and didn't put it on hold while I waited for a supervisor as she talked to someone else. Currently on hold with a supervisor from the Caribbean. After an hour of trying to resolve my issue, Robert was able to put in another request for a return equipment shipping box, but still could not confirm on his end with a follow up email as promised. Each rep gave conflicting directions to follow. This of course made me feel a lack of trust with them all . Once again I asked for someone in the US to help me out. In all a request to be transferred to a US representative was ignored 12 times. In total I was on the phone for 3 hours to talk to someone who could give me the info I needed to return my equipment. Direct TV has a 21 day equipment return policy before they charge you heavily for their equipment. Waste of my time and effort in dealing with this company! read more

We have had Directv and AT&T for almost a decade! We have premium packages through both. We got so screwed by them just recently to the point where I just want to cancel everything. We upgraded our cell phone to a premium hot spot plan. The agent told us our bill would only increase $10 and we would get HBO for free. Well the bill came and not only did we not get HBO free our bill was $60 more. We called and the agent told us that the previous teacher discount we were getting no longer applies to the new plan (definitely a lie from the first agent because he said all our discounts will stay intact) and HBO was only free if you log onto and download an app that links directv to their streaming service to apply the discount all of which was never told to us when we signed up. We ended up down graded back to our original plan and canceling HBO and our baseball package we also had to fight to get $50 knocked off our new bill because it was all charged out of a lie. This whole 1 hour experience on the phone makes me want to scream. I wish there was a company out there that would deal with big companies for you so we as consumers don't get screwed over by companies like Directv, Comcast, PG&E, etc!!!! The screen freezes or won't come on at all. They have come out several times and even changed out all of the boxes but they still haven't fixed it. Wow this might be the most horrific nightmare experience I have ever had with any service provider of any kind. I requested cable and internet online on 2/9/17. I got an email confirmation that my Installation appointment was for internet only so I called 5-10 times with no luck correcting the order. I finally asked for a supervisor. He stated that he fixed the problem. The installer shows up on 2/11/17. He stated he only had an order for internet. He installs it. I call another 5 times and am assured someone will be at my house on 2/13/17. The installer shows up that day and says he can only install internet.
