    Beware: filing legitimate claims can result in the losing the policy!…read more I've been a Farm Bureau customer for 25 years (and my parents for 55 years) and was so disappointed by how poorly my homeowners insurance was handled this year. In mid-November, I received a single mailed letter saying my policy would not be renewed in two weeks due to "claims history" and "condition of the home." I received no email, no portal notifications, and no communication from my agent before this letter arrived. This was upsetting because my home is in excellent condition. I had just completed $60,000 of professional remediation for water damage, and the adjuster confirmed that I did not need a new roof or have maintenance issues. I did file two claims this year (my first claims ever) after Hurricane Helene: they were very small--under $3,000 total--and both related to the same water damage, but Farm Bureau treated them as separate claims. This "claims history" made it very difficult to find new homeowners insurance. My agent, Bruce Johnson, told me he didn't know the policy had been cancelled. After that call, he never returned any of my calls again. I had to visit the office in person for help. Finally, Farm Bureau failed to properly cancel my auto policy and then withdrew nearly $600 from my account. I was told it could take a month to get this money back. After decades of loyalty, this has been deeply disappointing. Homeowners deserve to know that even filing small, legitimate claims can put your coverage at risk.

They refused to give any rational explanation to dropping our policy, which leaves only the obvious answer: Heaven forbid an insurance company have to uphold its side of their agreement and pay out on legitimate claims. Look elsewhere, this company is clearly getting desperate and taking it out on their long-standing customers. The agent even said he was "blindsided" by how many people he's having to call. By the way, they canceled our policy a week before calling us. We had no idea.

This switch was an easy one for my husband but an enlightening one for me…read more This isn't a review bragging about how "I saved a bunch of money by switching to such and such". We actually increased our monthly bill with switching, but let me tell you why I'm happy about it! I've always been the quintessential "loyal customer" and rarely switched up. I thought it was just easier to keep the same coverage and as long as the price didn't change or go up drastically I was good. Boy was I wrong! My family size changed, my assets changed, I mean a lot changed for the better in my life but the coverage I had prior to switching was not sufficient anymore for where I am currently. Well folks, let me tell you why it's great to have an agent that's better than being "like a good neighbor that's there". Not only did Vendell educate us on the fact that we were underinsured and made sure we were properly insured with Allstate for life's unexpected curveballs but, he really took the time to break down and help me understand in depth what my coverage options meant, and provided hypothetical example scenarios for me to grasp how it's used (it's how my brain works). He deserves a Gold Medal for his patience with me and my fiftylevin million questions. Oh, and the cherry on top is our new and improved coverage is actually competitively priced! By the end of our meeting, Vendell showed me that we really are in good hands and it's more than just a slogan. We're actually in GREAT hands because you can tell that this is more than just business for him. Vendell really makes you feel like you're family and that he genuinely cares and wants the best for you, your kids, your future plans and all that you've worked for. All these years before switching to Allstate, I just periodically shopped for the cheapest quote and played around trying to "name my price and build my bundles" to get the best pricing between insurers but nobody could beat my price. The reality is, nobody was going to beat my price because the price of the life I'm currently living is worth more than what I was paying to insure and I'm glad Vendell took the time to educate me on that. I say all this to say, speaking to a random 1-800 person somewhere around the world with no connection and feeling like you're just a number versus having someone that you end up building a personal rapport with and can call when you need and/or meet with in person is top tier and I'm glad we have that now. Check him out and give him a chance to give you a quote. I'm confident you won't regret it.
