Don't be deceived by the sign on the building ("Hirsch Weinstube") and no sign with the restaurant 's name, you are in the right place (as the menu by the door will attest). There are several different rooms within, so while it is much bigger than I had expected, it didn't feel too large once you are seated. Service was typical, but with the nice touch of rather than asking loudly whether I wanted an English menu, they quietly just gave me one (I clearly can't pass for German yet). My lamb shank in tomato sauce with pearl onions and roasted potato slices was fantastic. The lamb was perfectly cooked so that it was fork tender but not mushy, and the pearl onions and tomato sauce with it were delicious. The roasted potato slices were also nice done, if somewhat plain with just some salt and pepper for seasoning. With the pearl onions or lamb though, they gave a nice little crunch. While the prices were perfectly reasonable (€20 for an entree and beverage), the atmosphere is a little more upscale (plenty of jeans, but all with button down shirts or sweaters). Overall a great combination of reasonable prices, good food, and a slightly nicer atmosphere makes this a great choice for a date night, treating guests, or just grabbing a nice meal when you don't feel like cooking.

Last time we tried to have dinner at Ammos, the inside of the resto was closed, because it was very very hot and they were seating all guests on the garden terrace. Last Friday, it had cooled off, so we were pretty confident on finding the indoor part of the resto open - and it was. As normal, we found our own seating - for some reason, German restaurants do not have staff to seat you. I think it may be because many are understaffed by North American standards, so they do not need to pay attention to distributing guests in each wait staff's area. Still waiting to get that confirmed :-) Anyway, we started our meal with white wine, and a Garlic Bread appetizer. I had expected a basket of garlic bread, but all that arrived was 4 teeny slices, soaking in too much olive oil. Not a big fan of that. This was made up for though with a really nice, fresh house salad (part of the entree), which was lightly coated with a really tasty oil and vinegar dressing. I find often in German restaurants, there is way too much dressing, so I really appreciated it. My husband really liked his Delphi mixed grill, which consisted of pork souvlaki and gyros with tzatzliki. He substituted french fries and really enjoyed his meal. I had not had meat all week, so was starving for MEAT! I really liked the gyros - nice and juicy on the inside with lovely crispy bits on the outside. I substituted potatoes, which was a mistake. They were kind of soggy and tasteless despite the fresh herbs. We shared a really nice dessert called the Galactobureko, which consisted of a wedge of pudding pie, sour cherry compote decoration and ice cream. It looked yummy, but the dough on the pie was very soggy. We will likely be back to try some more entrees on the menu. The dinner salads in particular look very good. So more next time!

The food and service are always wonderful here. We visit often. The salmon dishes are my favoriteread more
