Yeesh, I hate to do this, because I love this place. It's got a lovely creekside patio out back, branded as Casa Alvarez. I've had breakfast out there a couple times recently, and the server has been wonderful. Attentive and always wore a mask. Then seemingly suddenly, the patio got busy and full and she started wearing it around her chin or neck, and I saw that the rest of the staff was wearing theirs over their chins or around their necks. It seems like once other staff members refused to wear masks, the patio server did, too. So disappointing. I feel like the management of the place doesn't care for its patrons, isn't patriotic, and presumably flouts other health regulations and best practices if it ignores this one. read more

This was THE BEST diner breakfast I've had in ages. Bacon was crisp, hash browns were crisp, eggs were perfectly over easy, and the Belgian waffle was crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. I also loved the corned beef hash. On top of delicious food, service was quick and every employee was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place. read more

Had a horrible experience. Food was awful and there were four of us for breakfast. How can a place mess up even biscuits and gravy. Not one thing we ate we liked we left and paid the bill and ate else where. The service was awful also. Waited a very long time. Server was short with us and not friendly at all kept cutting me off when I was talking. Saw many people come in get seated and served while we sat at our table for over 20 minutes. I love this restaurant. Hidden next to the McCormick building on W Gurley St, this is a piece of "Old Prescott". I usually go early mornings, on weekends, for breakfast. Great coffee, large menu, with daily specials. Enjoy your meal while looking at the old photos, and the locals that frequent this diner. Service is prompt and polite. I've never had a problem here. The establishment is old, but I find it clean, and the help welcoming. After a big meal, you're just a block away from Whiskey Row. read more

The is a great little stop if you are in the area! It is located just west of the main square about a block and a half. The breakfast special that I had was really good. Huge portions and you can pick Chicken Fried Steak as one of your meat options. That is unheard of... There is a patio that overlooks a little creek and when it is not to cold is an awesome place to sit and chow. A added pictures of part of the menu so you can get an idea of the offerings. Remember that this diner is small, so it is not advantageous for larger groups unless you call ahead and check space. The service was good and I made many a friend with the staff prior to my departure. This is a quick step the the main square and Whiskey Row. Also, centrally located to tons of stores and shopping. We are a small group that has lunch together each week. The food is always tasty and arrives quickly. The greatest thing about the Dinner Bell is waiter Gary. I want this review to focus on him. Gary is probably one of the best wait people I have ever encountered - whether at a high end restaurant or at a diner. He is attentive, has our iced tea waiting when we arrive, remembers orders without writing them down, checks in on us without being intrusive. He is willing to engage in conversation and is a delightful person. It is so nice to see a wait person who is polite, pleasant, and so eager to make our experience great every time. read more

Visited on a Sunday at 11:15am with five people. Food took an hour and a half to come out. No heads up on the wait or apology from the waitress. Coffee was watery and cold. When the food finally came out the eggs/bacon on the combo plates was cold. Food portions were small (especially the French toast, bread with powdered sugar sprinkled on top). Extra undisclosed charges for small additions. When we had paid and were at our car the waitress followed us out to give us a phone we had left (which we appreciated) but then she stated- 'you left nothing at the table' we questioned that not knowing what she had meant and were shocked to hear her say 'there's no tip or anything'. Really?? (This wasn't true- we did leave something just not the usual 20% we usually do. Two hours to receive simple breakfast, no acknowledgment, no apology and then the audacity to question it. I work in management in the food industry and the level of service and quality from this place was horrible. read more

Today was my first time in Prescott and this place left an ok impression. The spot was cute and staff was really nice, charismatic even. Orange juice was meh. Iced coffee totally sucked. Omelette was excellent. Huevos rancheros was very good. We had a pretty big party of 10, however only my food came out significantly after everyone else's, even though I ordered the same thing as two other people in my group. This is one of my favorite breakfast places in town! Huevos Rancheros, mango waffles, bacon, omelettes, poached eggs... Every thing I've tried has been great! If you walk down the little boardwalk to the left of the main entrance, there is a second dining area, and a creekside patio that's very pleasant in the summer time. read more

Two major issues I had with my last review have since been resolved: they now accept credit cards, and they have a soda fountain! Service is outstanding as it has always been, and the food is tremendous. Large portions, expertly prepared, and seasoned perfectly. I can't recommend their omelets enough, they are excellent. As the weather warms up, I strongly recommend trying to get a table on the back side of the restaurant; having a nice view of Granite Creek is a nice addition to the dining experience. read more

First of all, I love the food at the dinner bell, especially breakfast and have been there many times. I will be back, I just hope we don't get the same waitress. She was efficient but not friendly. I realize that businesses are having a devil of a time hiring people right now but at the very least she could have smiled and actually spoken to us. We thanked her several times without a word from her. When taking our order she was abrupt to the point of rudeness it was obvious she didn't really hear what we said. I'm visiting Prescott for the next few days and oh my, is there a wealth of delicious food to eat. One such place my family told me I had to try was The Dinner Bell Cafe. My sister and I decided to eat breakfast there today before we went sight seeing. The atmosphere was pleasant and the restaurant staff was friendly. We sat ourselves and the waitress came right over with coffee, water and menus. I ordered a peppered new york strip steak (medium well-lt's important to note here how I requested it be cooked) two over medium eggs and country potatoes. My sister had a denver omelet and hash browns. The wait time was average and refills kept coming which I love. Finally, food came and for my sister it was great she throughly enjoyed her omelet and hash browns she used the word "delicious." Mine on the other hand, was a RAW mess. My steak, which if you remember I asked for medium well, was raw. It was mushy and when I cut I into it, it wasn't even a little under cooked there was raw fat in it. I was so disappointed and the waitress came over and I sent it back. Any reasonable person would assume the steak would either be corrected (and it could have been at that point) or a new steak would be cooked. I decided to eat my eggs and potatoes, I sliced into my eggs and the whites were so runny they hung off my fork. Another item on my plate was waaay undercooked. At this point I was pretty upset and that's about the time my steak came back. Well, it wasn't brought up to the proper temperature. I was served the same piece of meat burnt to a crisp. This was beyond well done and frankly, I was insulted as a customer that it was sent out to me. I told the waitress I would be taking the check and leaving. To her credit she took the entire plate off the order and we paid for my sisters meal and left. I wouldn't recommend this place and me, my family and friends won't be back. read more

Really wanted to try casa Alvarez but it was closed so we decided to try it's "sister" the dinner bell. It's small inside but totally reminded me of where you would go with your parents or grandparents when you were a kid. Ordered the big club and the huevos rancheros, they were both amazing, I mean truly amazing. The beans and guac were so flavorful. The homemade sauce on the eggs was so fresh and just exploded with taste. I was really craving Mexican food and this hit the spot. I didn't get them but they have these wonderful looking waffles with all kinds of flavors (coconut macadamia anyone?!) Anyways this place is worth a try, and it's now added to my very short list of places I love in the quad cities. I can't wait to try their sister restaurant. Fake hospitality, as evidenced by the true hospitality the other diner received. The waitress knew him by name and was truly friendly, she really had to force herself to be nice to me. I only left a $2 tip. She anxiously looked at the charge slip to see if I left a tip and turned away with an eye roll at the $2. Next time I'll be sure to leave no tip. Do yourself a favor and have breakfast at Marino's Mob instead. They're across from the courthouse on Cortez. Smaller breakfast menu but the service/atmosphere is a thousand times better. read more

This small, hole in the wall, breakfast and lunch spot, was worth the visit! The space is limited, so be prepared to sit up close and personal with other customers! Even though we were sat by a grumpy older lady we figured she was probably just hangry after we saw her sit down and enjoy 2 plates of food! (It's always a good sign when the help enjoys the food.) Our waitress was adorable. Our order was taking longer than she felt it should, although, the wait did not seem excessive to us! She jokingly said something about the cooks making a mistake but that as long as they are the ones making the mistake, it's all good. She made us laugh and made us forget about Ms Grumpy Gills! There were 5 of us and nobody had any complaints about the food. It was yummy and we didn't have to cook it! We would definitely return! read more

Ever since I was a kid and we would come to Prescott to work the family cabin THIS was a place we had to go to. Hands down the best food in Prescott. My father used to beg for their salad dressing recipe (ranch) but they refused. The staff was always mighty friendly and as a kid it was a treat. Fast forward to after graduation from NAU and I get a job in Prescott. The first place I went to was Dinner Bell where I sat over breakfast and a newspaper to find my first apartment. Best breakfast in town. Eveytime we go now -many years later- this is a required stop for us. The place hasn't changed much since I was a kid and the staff is still amazing. It is just a great place for home cooking and good service. Breakfast is always amazing but you can't ho wrong with lunch OR dinner at the Bell. read more

It wasn't my first choice, but it will be from now on. I ended up at the Dinner Bell by coincidence and will be returning to try more of their dishes! The food was delicious and the service was exactly what everyone hopes for in a restaurant. The dining area wasn't very large and I don't believe large groups would be easily accommodated; however, your family of 4-5 will be very comfortable.
