Best in the area. Use it regularly for take out orders. They always throw in free extras if you take out. Nice surprise!

A small indian restaurant which also delivers. We have had…read moreboth takeaways and eaten in the restaurant and have always gound the food to be of a lovely quality. The staff are very friendly and attentive and are always bringing you extra jugs of water if thet see yours empty. this is a bring your own alchohol restaurant which makes it a nice cheap meal out as the meal prices are very reasonable too. the baltis are lovely and come in a nice hot steaming balti dish and the mushroom nan bread i can highly reccommend, in fact my mouth is watering now lol.

The large cool counter on the right as you walk into this restaurant makes me believe I am in a…read moresweet centre rather than a restaurant. This may be a good thing or bad thing depending on the occasion or your preferences. First impressions are "confusing". The plastic flowers are thankfully history but formica topped tables, a new LED lit ceiling raft and in your face wall paper conflict with the "oak beams". It doesn't go together so lets hope it is still work in progess. Sweet centres have their niche, perhaps better to be cheap & cheerful rather than try to compete with the marginally more "plusher" restaurants not far away. There is slightly cramped feel downstairs, very noticeable if it is busy however they do have more room above. Simple onion and yoghurt dip accompanies the popadoms. The choice of starters although "authentic" I suspect won't be to most people's taste. They're pre-made, stored in the cool counter and then microwaved to order. The presentation isn't great and they tend to be on the hot side. The choice of balti dishes isn't extensive and the differences between them can be subtle but they are typically tasty which is my personal preference. The nans are grilled rather than from the tandoor therefore on the "heavy" side but they do the job. Sundries, rice & chips etc are adequate but nothing special. Excellent chocolate burfi is available to finish. The staff are are efficient, friendly enough and I have found will do their best to oblige any requests. In my opinion a no frills but decent curry in a hurry but not as cheap as a sweet centre should be however still reasonable value. Take your own alcohol. Note to the first timer that the access and parking isn't straight forward.

Better known to regulars, as Blakey's Eastern Promise. This…read moreis by far the best Balti I have ever been to. There are around 10 Balti restaurants closer to our home but the journey is well worth it. The owner is a master at 'customer care' and really wants you to enjoy his food. You start your meal with complimentary papadums with pickles. Starters are many but my favourite is Tandoori mixed grill. For first timers, I would strongly recommend you asking to speak to the owner, who will be glad to spend time with you, discussing what dishes meet with your taste. He will go out of his way to meet your requirements and is quite prepared to move away from the menu by 'adding or taking away' ingredients. It is common for him to offer you a visit to his kitchens where he is proud to introduce you to the chefs and show you the food being prepared. (He is very very busy on Friday and Saturday nights and cannot spare as much time as a week night) There is a great selection of main courses but ask about the specials. If you are someone who enjoys taste, flavour, authenticity and you take a little time, you will love this restaurant !! The main is followed by complimentary coffees. My wife and I are regular visitors and book in advance to secure ourselves a booth (for privacy and intamacy). We have a great meal, we leave full, content and the bill is less than a three course meal for one in most retaurants.
