After two years of owning our home and waiting for the right time (...and money) to paint the exterior, we finally bit the bullet. Greg, the owner of Restoration Painting, was absolutely wonderful to work with. We were so impressed with the work he has done around DC (see his blog: http://restorationpainting.blogspot.com/) and he came highly recommended. Bottom line: he did not disappoint! We had a tight budget to work around, and Greg was super considerate of that fact and did everything possible to help stay within our given figure. He gave us honest feedback and advice when we were unsure about color schemes and was super flexible when we made changes to the plan (which happened twice! we were a bit indecisive for a while but never felt pressured to hurry up). He suggested things we never thought of - like giving our stairs some much needed TLC and restoring their appearance to be in line with the rest of the house. It only took a week for Restoration Painting to do our home, and we are so thankful we made the choice to go with them. He charged me 250.00 just to replace a a fuse. That popped 20 minutes after he had left my home. He promised to return to run a new line if the new Circuit breaker pops again. It did. He committed to the timeframe and even went above and beyond coming on what I would consider "off" days to ensure I was happy and satisfied with his work. He added a personal touch to all of his work and helped me make better decisions on quality products rather than the products for a lower price. He was very easy to work with, his office manager always was prompt to send invoices, and I liked the ease of making online payments. I was able to have a beautiful bathroom that my family can use and not worry about things not working properly. I can also rest assured my mother to safely getting into the shower and not worry about her falling getting the tub.

After it was completed, I found out there is an issue with the window installation. We cant properly use the window! I texted Bob and he said he would come by it a later date. He completely GHOSTED us. Wont reply at all. His staff installed a roof. We are happy with the roof. We did find nails in the grass for quite awhile. The only issue here is the drip strip was installed before the old gutters were taken off- and has snips for the old gutters, and then the new gutters were installed there's more snips for those. Bob told us that he would come by the following summer to fix/replace them drip strips. No show- no replies. Gave up. He put vinyl siding up out front. We asked for a scalloped siding up at the top. While we were on vacation, he texted a picture of it completed- he ran out if the scalloped and added cedar at the top to finish it. We didnt want cedar there. Back and forth with my husband about that, and he did come fix that. Its not perfect, and cuts are noticable from the street. (That was before he got final payment) He painted 3 sides of our house. The guys showed up, and started painting the bugs and cobwebs to the house. We asked them to stop and come back the following week so that WE could power wash the house. I still cant believe that!! There are paint runs in some places, and I had to go around the house with a paint brush to touch up the undersides of siding that was missed. When the painter ran out of paint-I was the one that ran to Menards and get more- out of MY pocket. And then the windows. We had 2 installed. One is fine. The other, isn't right. I can't slide the top pane of glass down to clean. I texted him right away and he said a family member was in the hospital, and he would come by it a later date to check it out. No more replies after that. So disappointed. I gave him more than enough time to follow thru before posting this review. I hate leaving bad reviews, and try to use small local businesses as much as possible. I want to high school with Bob, and several of our classmates recommended him. Only to find out afyer- they had never actually used him. Seriously disappointed. Will not recommend to anyone.

If you want to be accused of making a side contract with the painter who doesn't speak English…read more(because we asked what time he would arrive), yelled at for pointing out that the paint wasn't matching (which it wasn't), and being accused of not abiding by the contract which doesn't state what Shannon Eicher claimed it did, then hire these people. Was told a "team" would come and we'd coordinate with them on room order for painting. One painter showed up and when asked when the team would arrive was told by Shannon we wouldn't like the quality of his other painters. Painter insisted on us moving all the furniture in every room on day 1 so he could trim. Painter was supposed to work Monday-Friday 8-5 per contract but showed up after 10 AM, took an hour lunch, and only worked until 6 to make up for the time twice. Was supposed to take 8-10 days. Paint store did sell the wrong finish to Shannon which delayed completion, however, painter was angry that Shannon wouldn't pay him extra and we were caught in the middle. How does the owner who supposedly has been in the business since he was age 15 and a professional painter not notice that they were using the wrong finish? Home was unlivable for 16 days. Painter didn't have supplies (drop cloths or painter's tape) which we had to purchase from Home Depot to protect the home. We deducted the amount from the final balance because painter failed to reimburse us as he said he would. During the final days when painter had used up our supplies, he used masking tape which was difficult for us to remove (he cleaned nothing). We took off 4 rooms of wall paper ourselves; he wanted us to purchase a steamer at Home Depot which we refused. We did this even though the contract stated the company would remove the paper as the painter would look at the wall, sigh and say in English, "More work" but would never get around to removing the paper. To avoid extending the pain of having to deal with this company we did it ourselves. No thanks from either Shannon or the painter; Shannon yelled that we weren't going to receive a discount which we never asked for. Shannon only came by twice, to pick up his cash payments, not to see how the project was going. After storming out of the house without providing a receipt he never came back. He claimed he had a cat allergy (then why did he take the job?), made an appointment to come but didn't show and then texted a week later that we should have given the final payment to the painter when he left. The paint wasn't dry and per the contract, the final walk through was to be arranged after the job was completed which hadn't occurred. Shannon sent the painter back two days later to obtain the balance. Shannon admitted he doesn't get a lot of referrals. No wonder!
