Same old boring German food. Don't go to Germany for food unless you like Schnitzel (google translator = "pig shred" AKA sausage). German food seems to be a few veggies with a lot of meat and cheese and carbs, all relatively low quality. The service was good at Diezer Hofcafe...but the food was standard German.
Nearest decent food was in Limburg, 10 minutes away and well worth the drive. There you can find real Italian food and likely other edible things. Cologne had some real food -- fresh, organic-vibe, (heck, even wheatgrass juice at one place!), balanced fat-protein-carb-veggie ratios, Mexican food, Tibetan food. Don't waste your time at small town German cafes unless you like to eat pig and cheese with a few limp cucumbers for every meal. read more
