Move Here. Incredible views. Wonderful staff. Amazing experience. Clean hallways and elevators. Secure garage with assigned charging spaces. I moved in a few months ago mid-April. Everything that could have gone wrong for me, did, until it came to Diega. My movers cancelled on me which made me schedule a Uhaul last minute. I hit major traffic due to a fatality accident that shut down the freeway and was 4 hours late to my move-in window. The problem was, the following day was Easter Sunday and the office was closed. Joe went above and beyond to ensure I was able to move in that weekend without issue. He stayed an hour late to get me my keys, walk me through the elevator and garage process, and made sure I had everything I needed. So incredibly grateful. After having been here for several months now, I can accurately say that all of the staff is fantastic. Hayley and Joe stand out at the top. Both super helpful and always willing to answer questions and help out however needed. If the building itself wasn't already enough to keep me here, the staff makes it that much easier if a sell. read more

I've lived at many different apartments before and Diega is one of the best places I've called home in a long time. Overall the apartments are all really great along with the amenities that are offered (go to the events offered monthly)! Remember that you'll be living in an apartment building, so any problems that arise are 9 times out of 10 coming from your neighbors (not listening to rules) and not the building itself. Most importantly, honestly, we would never have moved into this place in the beginning if it wasn't for Haley in the leasing office! I just renewed our lease with Diega after 15 months lease expired. This is probably the best building in downtown San Diego area. It's always clean and the aminities are great. You feel like you live in a 5 star hotel. The leasing team are great. Hayley helped us when we first moved in 2021 and recently she worked with us in moving to the new unit in the other tower. Lived at Diega for 6 months now and love it here. The management/staff is always very welcoming and accommodating. I moved from out of state and Hayley was particularly helpful in finding the right unit for me, answering any questions I had and making the whole process of moving to CA easy. Pros: - Friendly, professional, welcoming staff - Very clean (the gym and common areas are cleaned daily) - Amenities (gym, sauna, pool, social events offered really sets Diega apart from other complexes) - Community (in general, everyone is friendly and respectful of others) - Location (close to Seaport Village, Gaslamp, Little Italy, Coronado, etc) Cons: - Homeless population (don't always feel safe walking outside. This is an issue for downtown, not just Diega. You know what you're signing up for living downtown) - Package room (staff does their best to manage but can get a bit disorganized, and have had a few packages lost/stolen) - Noise (downtown can get a bit noisy, but that's to be expected and for the most part I don't hear my neighbors unless their dogs are barking and/or they're playing loud music) Overall, Diega is one of the best apartment complexes in downtown San Diego and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for downtown lifestyle. read more

In 2021 moved here in June. After 4 months, i had to break my lease and move out. Scatchy people started moving in, drugs and parties 24/7, staff didnt do much about the complainants. Had to do myself and the individuals still kept partying and being loud. Dogs poop was left all over 7th floor. Packages in mail room were disappearing. Two of my friends broke their lease after i did and moved out as well. Even though I told them the reason why I'm leaving they weren't flexible and I had to pay good amount of cash to make sure we're good. But it was all worth it. All the bad reviews on here are 100% accurate. read more

I moved into the building in June 2021. The building itself is nice and the amenities are all new - you'll definitely be impressed you on your tour. Having lived there for a year now, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. Given the size of the building, my worry upfront was that I would be an insignificant piece of a large operation, which definitely proved to be the case. As you would expect, it's a huge operation with a lot of turn over and a lot of outsourced vendors which leads to a very impersonalized approach. As examples, there are different vendors for mail, parking, security, apt. services, etc. None of them communicate properly so most request/issues just fall through the cracks. Why this leads to a bad outcome for the residents: 1) If you're away during the day, and simply just request for someone to let a deliver person in, you have to do through a separate app (no number to call or person to talk to). There's no guarantee that person will actually get let in. When you move into the building and are waiting for important furniture, it usually takes several delivery attempts before you receive things. 2) There's a towing vendor who has access to the garage. Regardless, if you're parked improperly or not, they can take your car without any consent from mgmt. (no phone call, warning or anything). Expect to have your car towed a few times during your stay here. These aren't cheap either - in the $300 - $400 range. Mgmt. has zero sympathy here. They're only focused on their own bank account so all costs fall on the residents. 3) Noise complaints. There are a lot of young, very loud residents in the building. No matter who you are, it's not fun to get woken up on Tues at 3am. Unfortunately, the security vendor is different than mgmt., so it's impossible for any action to be taken. I can also confirm that all of the complaints by the other posts below are true (trash, smelly, package issues, amenities often shut down, etc.) The key objectives for the mgmt. of this building all revolve around their short term profitability. They will charge you fees for every little thing you do but will never provide concessions when they're in the wrong. They spend more time responding to yelp/google review than addressing their own residents concerns. It's shame for the folks who built the place. Great property but terribly managed. read more

Diega started off nicely until the college kids started moving in. Parties. Every. Night. DO NOT live on the 7th floor. Anytime I would walk outside I'd basically step in dog poop or pee. Manager also lives on-site who does not pick up after her pet! Their management team is a bit clueless when it comes to actually knowing the job. I called one time when someone parked in my spot and spoke with Whitney. He told me he would have it taken care of and the vehicle towed away but he ended up calling 911 dispatch LOL should have seen their faces. Homeless outside on every corner so I always had to drive somewhere for walks because I didn't feel safe and construction is so loud that I can't work from home. The only pro was there is a really cool market called Krisp right next door. Only reason it gets a two star. You have to try "Terry Bests Roast Beef" sandwich. Everyone in the community has had it although it can be a bit dry at times. read more

My wife and I moved into Diega October of 2021. We have loved it here. Some of the issues mentioned are because some believe their mother lives in the building and will pick up after them. There are rules like any other location that need to be followed. Any requests we have had, very few may I add, have been addressed and taken care of quickly. I like it here and feel the efforts by the staff have been excellent. We came from Salt Lake City and the Urban Camping issues there are the same here. If you live downtown anywhere in the US this will be an issue. But you can't blame the complex, but should reach out to your local leaders. We like it here and commend the staff and residents for making this place our home. read more

So far so amazing! Just moved in and Justin, Carlos, and Matt have been amazing. Super attentive and helpful. I shipped about 50 boxes of furniture and other household shit when I moved in--enough to fill up their storage room, and Justin was even kind of enough to haul it all up to my apartment for me while I was out of town. Must have taken multiple trips. I've never seen customer service like this, especially from a property management employee. Aside from the customer service this is the best residential building in Downtown San Diego, hands down. And I know because I toured them all in search of the perfect building--new, modern, clean, and the best gym and pool I've ever seen in a residential mixed-use building. Highly recommend! read more

Be careful before you apply here. They charge you $500 deposit and don't tell you that you only have 72 hours to get it back, but will take 10 days to let you know if you're approved for the unit. Communication is terrible, they're non responsive or take days to call/email back. Not worth the price. I was approved at another greystar building for same $$ apartment in less than 12 hours. They took 10 days and when I decided to go elsewhere they're refusing me my $500 deposit. read more

I was interested so I made an appointment to tour Diega. Their policy is to collect your drivers license. They forgot to return it and I forgot to ask for it back. I live out of town so I asked Carlos to mail it. That was 12 days ago and I still haven't received it. I waited a week to call Carlos and he assured me he was going to get it out. I just hung up. It's truly unfortunate that Diega gets this rating. After being long time tenants for over 1.5 years, the management team is the root cause behind the issues that have unfolded. For starters, when we smelled sewer gas in our guest bathroom, multiple work orders were placed and maintenance just poured bleach down the toilet. Multiple times this was done and still the issue was there. Eventually, we had to demand a plumber come in and do a thorough inspection because of the toxic smell. Turns out, the O-ring was improperly aligned causing the issue. Why is it that management could not have called a plumber sooner when the tenant knew there was still an ongoing problem? Apart from this, the side door in the south tower has been down for at least 5 months and still counting before we vacated. In addition, security cameras don't even work or as management implies, "CCTV footage can only be shared in a response to a subpoena." Why is it that management can't push to getting these things fixed? Why not use the social party budget to getting the door fixed or cameras? The worst came from our entire floor's AC compressor being down for over two months! This was the ultimate factor in giving a 1 star rating at this property! Management had to be given the law in order to seek any movement. How can it take over two months to getting a compressor fixed? In all, there are many other properties in downtown to consider to live, Diega is not one of them. read more

I did a tour here. A friend of mine told me to check out the building. It is really gorgeous, I'll say that for sure. I didn't think it was worth the prices though, seriously. Things I noticed during my brief visit: staff seemed really tense and I didn't see them working well together. The cleaning crew seemed terrified and completely scared. The residents were not super friendly and seemed unhappy. I smelled weed going to view the model unit. I didn't bother to mention it, because I felt like I was going to get a bogus answer. Elevators were very slow. I was pressured to apply so I could get a parking spot. Even the application fee was a rip off at almost 50 bucks. I waited about 10 minutes to pull into the parking lot until the trash truck was finished emptying the dumpsters for my tour. I was made to wait for my tour (late) because the guy was already helping someone else when I got there. He kept working in other people while I was trying to talk to him and get my questions answered. He was very unfocused on our interaction. I felt pressured into an 18-24 month lease, before applying. It is really a lovely building, in a central location, but I feel it's fairly overhyped with too many kinks to work out. I just didn't get that loving feeling I was looking for. It was an ultimate pass for me. read more

I moved in a few months ago and my packages are always either lost or stolen. They have to rhyme or reason on organization inside the package room, no cameras, and nobody to hold accountable when my packages go missing. I have lost over $600 worth of packages and it is pretty unacceptable. The amenities are nice hut they really oversell the whole "Hello Alfred" thing that barely works. The cleaning team has been unreliable up until I threw a Karen fit and had them switch my tidy up person. They don't have anyone for auto detail let alone 90% of the other things they offer. Hello Alfred should not be a selling point because it does not work. Finally, in the elevator you only get access to your floor. MEANING- if my neighbor forgot their keys I cannot help them get up, or if I want to go to my friends apartment on the 30th floor I either have to take the stairs or take 3 elevator trips to get to them. Super inconvenient. I wish I would have known how bad a lot of these things are inside the Diega.. I would have considered moving elsewhere. I do enjoy living here and I like my neighbors, but that is my honest review of things. For the most part the apartment itself if nice and very insulated so it's quiet read more

To be honest, I think Diega is quite a nice place. I visited five apartments in Downtown, old and new. The first thing I looked at was Diega and I went with it. Why? Because it is very new, the elevator in South Tower is so fast that I feel like vomiting, so I choose North Tower because its elevator is slower. The staff are nice too! I've seen a lot of negative reviews on Yelp about marijuana and the smell of garbage but Diega is serious about addressing these issues. And they were handled very well. It's just an apartment that's been open for less than six months. I believe it can do better in the future. And I guarantee you won't find another apartment in Downtown willing to be proactive about your problems. read more

Moved in just days ago and already there are issues. Hallway outside my front door either smells like trash from the refuse room or like weed from my neighbors. I had thought I smelled weed when I was first viewing the apartment but the leasing agent assured me it was the cleaning products the maintenance crew used. One of the main reasons I selected Diega over Park12 was because Diega offered assigned parking. I got home today and someone was parked in my space. The leasing office was closed so I spoke to the on-sight security. The two guys working were very nice but the answer was essentially - nothing we can do, call leasing on Monday, and in the meantime park in a guest spot. I'm really hoping things improve because for being a "luxury" building this hasn't been a very lux experience. read more

Two stars because the amenities are incredible but one or more has to be shut down regularly, whether it's the spa, garage doors, air conditioning and most recent the elevators not working. Don't waste the high downtown rent money on this place. I wouldn't recommend it. Management isn't reliable they spend all this time responding to yelp reviews but nothing gets resolved. The underrated reviews here are not very fair. The building staff is more than helpful on a daily basis. They host weekly community events here which are a lot of fun. The building is safe and there has never been an issue around noise level or homeless outside (if you walk around any major city, you will see homeless people, it's normal). The amenities are some of the nicest I've seen in all of downtown area and are constantly kept clean. I would highly suggest this complex to anyone looking for a quality apartment. read more

I have lived at Diega for over a year now, the staff is so amazing and helpful with every aspect of living in this building. Not only is the building and all of it's amenities beautiful but the employees that work here also make it feel like home. Specifically Hayley, Tae, and Davey. Hayley knows every resident and their dog by name and always has a smile on her face ready to help with anything she can. Tae is the sweetest person and even though he deals with all of the finances for the whole building he never shows how much pressure and stress I'm sure he is under and will do anything he can to help you. Davey is always so funny and ready to give you a smile in the morning and when you get back from work, he makes the lobby and office have such a good vibe. Even though these are the staff members that really stand out, every employee that works here is amazing. I would recommend any of my family or friends to move here! read more
