I recently went to the Luau & Pet event and was blown away by the new Event Manager Will. He really thinks of every detail and goes above & beyond from residents to 4-legged pups too. All of the decor, delicious food, DJ & drinks were spot on. The care on the team is exceptional and I really love the 5-star lifestyle at Diega. The interior of the homes are well designed with fancy showers, built-in closets, and most of all; awesome views!!! If I had to give any positive/constructive feedback, I'd suggest electric black out shades. I just went down to the pool for a relaxing jacuzzi session on this lovely Monday and there were people having se!x in broad daylight on the couches. Ever since Diega started allowing people to rent out their apartments on Airbnb, this has become a ratchet place to live. I pay too much to live here for these nasty people to be having se!x at 6 pm in broad daylight on a Monday in a shared public space. Oh and there's were also a group of people that looked like str!ppers or prost!tutes with glass tequila bottles at the jacuzzi. This is a luxury apartment complex. I've lived here for 3.5 years and the second tenants were allowed to rent out their units, the quality of living went down. But my rent has not. Security and management have not done anything to address these issues. There haven't even been emails sent out to address something small like glass at the pool. Someone actually broke a bottle of Hennessy at the pool a couple weekends ago and there still was not an email. When I went down to the leasing office to complain about the people having se!x at the pool, the leasing agent checked her watch to see if she was still on the clock before she let us tell her what happened. Everything was so well organized and had a great energy from the start. Will was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and included. You could tell he genuinely cared that people were having a good time. The staff at the Beau were just as amazing. They were attentive, professional, and easy to talk to. I had a long review posted but then removed it, believing Greystar would do the right thing. They haven't, so we're so back baby. In short, Diega's leading agents made fraudulent misrepresentations about billing practices. Diega has also, contrary to their own contract terms, have sublease about 50 units to short-term renters (Airbnb and military contractors). Diega also withdrew their "Alfred" service which they advertised and offered as a service, without compensation. Finally, Greystar is cheap af. It's everything wrong with a corporate-run company, but it also operates as an insurance company, looking to find ways to make you pay for everything while denying liability for everything they can. Awful building, would not recommend leasing here. I toured the apartment and thought it was a good fit based on amenities and location. I applied for a lease, got approved, but then found a clause hidden deep in the lease contract that they allow AirBnBs. I kindly told my leasing agent that would have been a non-starter for me had I known that would be the case. They refused to refund my deposit, which is stupid considering I wouldn't left a deposit in the first place had I known. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money, and go to Radian, Simone, 525 Olive, or any other luxury high rise. read more

First, I have zero problems being critical here on Yelp. If something is bad, you'll hear it from me, I promise lol I have lived here since 9/2023 and my lease is, unfortunately, coming to an end. I have loved this place! I am on the 10th floor, facing the interior of the complex. So I can see the 7th floor amenities from my windows and balcony. For a downtown apartment, it's been really quiet. I never hear my neighbors. I hardly ever even see my neighbors, actually. I haven't had a ton of interaction with the staff/management. To me, that just reflects that I haven't had any issues and they pretty much let me live my life. I have a dog who barks when she hears other dogs barking. Some jerk neighbor complained. They lied and said my dog was barking, "all day" when I work from home and was there literally all day and witnessed that she, in fact, was not barking all day. I let the office know that and they left me alone after. Haven't heard another word. The building is newer and beautiful. I love the amenities (though, I don't use them very often.) I have a 1 bedroom and it's about average size for a downtown SD apartment. It's a really nice place and the balcony is large, which my dog and plants love. I have never had any problems with packages (at least not problems I would attribute to Diega) or parking in the garage. The garage door on 8th Ave breaks occasionally, but it is usually fixed pretty quickly. Also, there is another door on 7th, so it's not really that big of a deal to just go around the block. Honestly, after reading some of these reviews here, I believe some people expect perfection and their expectations are way too high lol you're never going to find perfection. It's just not gonna happen. Sorry to burst your bubble! But for a downtown apartment, this place is pretty nice. It's expensive, sure. But you get what you pay for. And expensive is pretty standard for SD in general. Especially downtown. I'm genuinely sad to be moving next month. The only reason I am is because I'm moving into a larger apartment that is closer to where I need to be. (It's another Greystar property though!) But I will always look back fondly on my time here. Wow, wow, wow, Diega, there will not be a single positive in this review. I went to their website & requested information on their one bedrooms, facing South in their front tower. Afterwards, I got hounded via email, text & phone by Harry, a leasing agent. When I called back, I ended up speaking to Zach, another leasing agent who steered me to unit 2607 but he would have Harry get back to me, since he made the 1st contact, great, right!!?! Well, Harry never called back, no message, no email, no text & so I went here to read reviews & wow, I am so glad. Ok, I thought I would still do a tour & called. Harry actually answered the call but get this, he had no clue who I was, did not know why I was calling & had no idea he was supposed to call me back. I was blown away since CS is so important where I live & then I added up the reviews & decided, no thanks to Diega & never even did the tour. I would NOT recommend staying there after living here for almost 3 years. 1. Elevators are awful, average wait can be 10 minutes sometimes. 2. Amenities and access doors (including garage doors) constantly broken and it takes more than a month to fix anything even after break-ins in the garage. (Storage rooms were broken into) 3. Consider your security deposit gone as they will charge you painting and cleaning fees (around 540$) even if apartment was left impeccable(confirmed with multiple residents). (They will also charge you extra on your last month to pretend they are refunding you when they give you back your deposit) 4. Multiple units have had water pipe bursting problems and they will not care as much as they should. If you're thinking about moving here, let me save you some time: run! Here's why this place is an absolute disaster: Security Deposit Scam : FORGET about seeing your security deposit again. They'll hit you with imaginary fees at the end of your lease ($543+ for cleaning fees(?)), and will let you know months after you move out. We experienced this twice while moving apartments. It's crystal clear--they're masters at squeezing out every last penny from tenants. And props to whoever came up with the trick of taking a whole month of rent when our lease ended mid month (confirmed by multiple previous residents), to return the money 7 weeks later to create the illusion of a "refund". Serious Concerns : Multiple tragic incidents (lives ceasing to exist) have occurred here. While this is an incredibly sensitive topic, it's something future residents should know about. The building's atmosphere is far from comforting. Elevator Nightmare : Weekends? Forget about timely elevators. They'll often take over 10 minutes to arrive. If you enjoy waiting around for what should be a basic convenience, you'll love this. Pipe Issues : Burst pipes have affected at least 10 units that I know of. And guess what? Management offers no help or reimbursement for the damage. You're on your own with this one. Garage Doors in Disrepair : The garage doors are perpetually broken. The reason for my one star review, I went to the leasing office and had an appointment with Matt. I expressed my interest in the 9 units that were available online for $2728. He told me none of them were available, because some were going through an eviction process, and the advertised price was "incorrect" and they have been meaning to correct it. Keep in mind, this is on their own website and several other platforms like apartments.com. I had checked three days before and it said there were 8 available, and on that Saturday they updated their website saying 9 were available, but when it came to me, none were available. Then I asked him about another apartment available for $2900 and what do you know that one is also not available. But shockingly my friend called half an hour after my visit and spoke to another agent who said two of the apartments were available immediately for the price of $2728. I'm not sure why I was discriminated against, or if it's even LEGAL to advertise and not honor what they advertise. But that was an indication of how this place operates. There are a lot of other buildings in downtown with more square footage and same prices with better management. I am sure I'm gonna get a generic response like they wrote on everyone's else's review saying we're sorry for the trouble but call this number, which is a joke. read more

We live in one of the nicest corner penthouse units in Diega. The amenities look great on the tour but almost everything here breaks and breaks fairly often. We been stuck more times than I'm comfortable with on the 39th floor because these elevators are super glitchy and the entrance and garage doors break as well. Maintenance and management are truly terrible. This is what happened: **They denied us a dryer for almost 10 weeks. After numerous requests spanning over 9 weeks they sent me an email saying the dryer was fine and the problem was "user error"...USER ERROR. Imagine how I manage to live in a corner penthouse but can't push buttons right?? After around 4 weeks with no dryer I couldn't keep living that way with a family of three and a dog- (the head of maintenance INSISTED nothing was wrong with our obviously broken dryer and that it had to be the vent)....So we waited for them to clean the vent and kept waiting for another 6weeks constantly putting in requests only to have maintenance show up, drain a ton of water that collected in the hose (an electrical fire hazard) and STILL REFUSE to remove the dryer and replace it. The second and final time I confronted them in person was after receiving the attached email. When they FINALLY replaced my dryer that night- it worked and the issue was gone. They allowed us to go without a necessity and blamed us. This was so unnecessary and caused me so much stress and chaos. (After this we decided to move out ASAP). **Thurs morning I received an email saying they had taken my package/ packages out of the locked mail room (where the shelves are arranged by floor) and HID my packages in the office (so I wouldn't be able to get them when I showed up to the package room almost daily) and sent an email saying I had 24hrs to come to the office and get my illegally confiscated PACKAGE or they would throw it away. How is it ok to TAKE MY personal mail and hide it? I didn't see this email which was sent Tuesday until early this morning. So Thursday I went downstairs and approached a leasing agent and began to explain that I had a digital trail of accessing the package room and it will show I HAVEN'T "gone for 72 hours" without getting my packages, (as accused) so I expected them to look at my access record and then simply give me the package or packages they took. Instead, the leasing agent immediately shut his computer, ignored me and said to his colleague "let's go" and they both walked away from me while I was speaking to him....the man who gets paid by my rent to help ME. They went upstairs to the management office and I followed them incredulous, saying "hello I was speaking to you" only to be met by the super bitchy manager Kelly who told me to leave because "I was upset" Yeah of course I am....they stole my package for NO REASON. This is clear RETALIATION for the dryer issue which was 100% their fault. After AGAIN having them threaten me with calling the police, I sat down and said "I will happily leave once you go get my package that you took". I'm telling them "don't send me an email saying you took my package and tell me to come get it- then tell me I'm not allowed to show up to get it." That's insane. Then the manger Kelly came out and told me my package or packages had been THROWN AWAY. They take your packages so you won't know if you don't immediately SEE the email and it's thrown away in 24hrs. This is a HUGE and TERRIFYING issue for me because I live with a rare condition called CRPS Type II and half of my meds come in the mail from compounding pharmacies. This is a DANGEROUS stunt their pulling. While explaining that half of my meds come from compounding pharmacies and having them thrown away would wreck my ability to function and I do get very shaky and upset when I have to defend myself regarding my disorder- I have PTSD after fighting for my life for 14 years but they thought it was funny. They smirked and laughed at my show of emotion and fear that I was clearly being targeted and placed in a no win situation, not to mention they refused to pull up my access record which would clearly show me and my husband check the package room almost daily. My oldest son also lives in the building and he also checks for my mail so MY MAIL is never left for days on end. They refuse to give me any info on the package they stole. We are planning to sue for damages, harassment, denial of services, theft and harm to my health. Diega don't bother responding- I'll see you in court and when I'm at bat I don't miss. This building is disgusting. The garbage shoots stink up entire hallways and rats infest the parking garages. The "pet area" smells so bad that it brings hoards of flies into the open gym. The pool shuts down weekly due to broken glass... On top of this, management gaslights and baselessly threatens residents with random fees and notices. The desk staff would rather make fun of residents than actually help and security is a major issue. Any of the positive reviews here are clearly fake or influenced by a personal connection to the building or its staff. I cannot imagine anyone believing that this overpriced slum is worthy of more than 3 stars at best. read more

We lived at Diega for over 2 years and while we have loved our apartment and certain aspects about the building, overall i would not recommend people live here. The first 2 nights into our lease we got harassed by our neighbor trying to break into our apartment, looking over the balcony into our bedroom, and screaming slurs at us. This happened on 3 separate occasions and the Diega staff did not seem to care one bit. They told us our only option was to move units, and at the time the only ones available were $1500 more than we were paying. They didn't cover anything or give us any sort of incentive. The manager basically told us that "sometimes drunk people wander into the building and into residents apartments" as if that would make us feel any better about the situation. The leasing agents staff are all extremely rude and unhelpful. They never greet you or acknowledge your existence and the few times that I have called to ask for help or questions about certain things they're extremely short and act like they'd rather do anything else than talk to you and help you even though that is their job. If they tell you they're gunna email you about something don't expect anything. They do not care to help you or solve any issues. The gates to the garage are constantly breaking, which in this area is not good. The building is surrounded with homeless people and feels extremely dangerous leaving the premises of the building. They tell you that there's 24/7 security but normally the security guards are just on their phones with their headphones in not paying attention to anything that goes on. The butterfly app where you're able to let in delivery people or friends is constantly breaking causing packages to get lost or undelivered and friends having to wait outside in the homeless infested streets to get inside. The construction site across the street is also extremely loud and starts at 6am EVERYDAY and goes til around 5 so there is never any quiet especially if you aren't on the west facing side. The best part of this place is the gym but you can't even use the outdoor space of the gym without getting the overwhelming smell of dog pee considering the dog area is right there and all they use to "wash it" is water. The machines and bathrooms constantly are out of service and take weeks if not months to get fixed. The guest parking is also non existent. A huge part of us wanting to move to this building was having safe parking for not only us but our friends as well. There's only a few spots and you're only allowed to park in them from 6pm-9am so if you have people visiting you have to move their car unless you want to get to towed and pay $900. So basically you can't ever have friends over because the parking in downtown is also non existent. If you're looking for a quiet building this also isn't your spot. The pool in the summertime basically turns into a vegas day club and it's impossible to find a spot to sit or relax. The building and the units are nice but everything else is pretty much a let down. I did a tour here. A friend of mine told me to check out the building. It is really gorgeous, I'll say that for sure. I didn't think it was worth the prices though, seriously. Things I noticed during my brief visit: staff seemed really tense and I didn't see them working well together. The cleaning crew seemed terrified and completely scared. The residents were not super friendly and seemed unhappy. I smelled weed going to view the model unit. I didn't bother to mention it, because I felt like I was going to get a bogus answer. Elevators were very slow. I was pressured to apply so I could get a parking spot. Even the application fee was a rip off at almost 50 bucks. I waited about 10 minutes to pull into the parking lot until the trash truck was finished emptying the dumpsters for my tour. I was made to wait for my tour (late) because the guy was already helping someone else when I got there. He kept working in other people while I was trying to talk to him and get my questions answered. He was very unfocused on our interaction. I felt pressured into an 18-24 month lease, before applying. It is really a lovely building, in a central location, but I feel it's fairly overhyped with too many kinks to work out. I just didn't get that loving feeling I was looking for. It was an ultimate pass for me. read more

All of these reviews written by people who tour Diega and never lived here are comical. What you won't see when you tour is what really matters. You won't see that the 1st and 7th floor common area air conditioning has not worked in almost a year. Management makes up excuses as to why they cannot fix it, but the truth is they're too cheap to hire anyone to fix it properly. If you like working out in the gym that is 88 degrees on warm afternoons, you might not mind. If you like "working from home" in the shared space, expect similar temperatures during the day. There is clearly a fault in the construction of the building because even the air conditioning units in the apartments are subpar. Management took it upon themselves to put the cheapest fans money can buy from Walmart all around the 7th floor to blow hot air around, but these have since been removed. The air still does not work. The grills are often broken for months at a time, the television near the grills has not worked in several months, there's frequently dog poop in the stairwells for days at a time because people here are gross. The appliances used in the units are cheap. The dryers suck, the refrigerators do not have filtered water or ice dispensers like most apartments and the ice will end up everywhere. Management sends weekly condescending emails telling residents of new rules they make up on the fly, but they never actually enforce anything and the security company is a joke. Be prepared for your nieghbors to invite 30 of their friends to the pool and take all of the chairs on busy days. Be prepared to share your gym with people who don't even live here because their friends share a building access code with them to allow them to use our gym. Management will send an email the next Friday saying only 2 guests per resident, but they'll never do anything about it. Maintenance requests go several days without any response. Management will destroy your packages if you do not retrieve them within 2 days. Good luck when something is sent to you unexpectedly, you won't receive any notice it was placed in the mail room by UPS or Fedex, and if you don't pick it up within 2 days, it'll be gone. The community events are pretty decent, but they have fallen off a bit from how they were when the building opened. If all of this sounds good as a prospective tenant, welcome to life at Diega. read more

Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a lively community, and understand what living in the city is like. I'm a current tenant and have been for almost 1 year. I'd give this place a solid 3.5+. Will I re-sign my lease? Yes, but I wouldn't pay a dollar more than I already am, as I do not think that it would be worth it based on the CONS below. PROS: 5 star amenities! Gym, sauna, heated pool, BBQ's, co working spaces - are all fantastic and I use them frequently. Sure some things break, but there is like 2k residents with high volume usage, it is to be expected. The views from my unit are nice, and there are even better views available. The windows are a 4 star for noise in the city. Walls for the most part cancel noise from neighboring units. Really fun resident events that go on at least once a week. CONS: The customer service for residents is really lacking. I don't blame our leasing agents, rather I think management needs to hire someone solely for new clients and someone to be available for current residents. Most of the staff is pleasant, but to be honest there are a few who who are not cut out for customer service and should find a desk job that doesn't involve "assisting" people if they don't like that part of their job. Often times you can't get any assistance because they are busy helping non-residents looking for a new home. Which can be incredibly frustrating considering I'd spend $48k annually to live here, and that alone nearly covers the salary for someone to assist the residence more easily. Dog park smells disgusting (I will not use it, downtown streets are cleaner lol). Packages go missing frequently (but usually am able to get an easy refund from amazon for not following delivery intrusions), but staff is usually helpful in looking if their schedules allow it. Security is useless here, they have one person an average per day for 2k residents, sometimes a few people on weekends. It wasn't this way when I first moved in (they had another company) who actually kept the homeless off of our streets and it stayed clean and nice. The new company doesn't give a shit and just sits in their car, not attempting to remove any riff-raff. NEED TO KNOW: Don't blame Diega for the homeless. If you chose to live in downtown, know what you're getting yourself into before living in the center of a city. It's a dog friendly building, hundreds of dogs live here. That means accidents happen, and should be expected. Dont blame Diega, be a good resident and just tell a staff member if you see a mess. they will send someone pretty quickly to clean it up. The building is perfect for someone on a more lively or younger side (I'm a 33 fun professional, no kids - it's perfect for me). There community is fun, drinks by the pool, parties with friends. Weekends can be a little louder (my unit has no issues but neighbor friends occasionally complain about their issues). I love the vibe here, and wouldn't really change it. I would suggest getting to know your neighbors and personally asking them to keep it down if there is an issue (be human). Maybe not a good place for a baby or elderly folk. OVERALL: I enjoy the place, and would recommend it to a friend. It has a lot of areas of opportunity for improvement (but don't we all!), but nothing that would make me want to move (of course unless a rent increase, as I feel I could find another place with better customer service and less issues for an comparable rate) read more

Zachery Mapes and Diega named me in a lawsuit when I haven't lived there since January, after talking with him he sent the wrong paperwork. Took multiple calls and multiple emails to get fixed, this should never happen considering it's a luxury apartment. read more

Update: Still trying to contact email/phone calls and no response since Feb 26 2024! Zach put me on hold for 33 minutes then the phone "hung up". Sarah the Assistant Manager told her other leasing employees that she would email me back after another phone call. She's brushed me off again. Even CC them w/ my insurance company they didn't respond. I guess what's left is to push legal actions here. Don't bother the customer service/leasing here is a scam. Lived here for 14 months+, moved in a month later they said they didn't have our deposit or renters insurance. How can you legally move in without any of those paperwork? We emailed and showed proof more than 6x as well as contacted back & forth for the whole year! Showed them a copy of the deposit from the bank they apologized they LOST OUR DEPOSIT. Emailed them & our renter insurance it was not until ONE YEAR LATER they said the interest party needed to be corrected by that time my renter insurance had to renew for a 2nd year they said I was not allowed to change the year prior while Diega kept charging me $$ each month on top of having renters insurance. They said they would find a way for reimbursement. No follow up emails, I tried calling them everyday for 3-4 days now. Also my roommate had a week left before she moved out and her parking permit decal wasn't on her dash. THEY HAVE AN AGREEMENT W/ TOWERS AND WILL TOW ALL TENANTS CARS LATE AT NIGHT WHILE PPL ARE SLEEPING, SO THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR DOUBLE THE IMPOUND FEES! This place deserves about one star but I'm giving it two because I believe others will say it was 2/5. I lived here for almost two years and some of the things that happened here were the worst things that happen to a physically healthy human. More later on this . The gym is nice that is where my 1 star goes to, although, some of my residents friend have said they go without somewhere else cos it's too crowded for them.
