With the glut of record stores stocking the same overpriced reissues, new releases and beat up used LPs, it's important to find and support shops like this. Transmission is everything I look for in a record store -- a smaller and better managed collection that focuses on specializing in a few genres/eras rather than trying to check all the boxes. What really put this shop over the top for me was the focus on Italian and other European artists whose work I'd otherwise have to import through Discogs at a much steeper price. The store also features a bevy of classic and out of print titles -- search their site and you will be surprised. Which brings to me to perhaps the store's most impressive feature: The entire inventory, new and used (!!!!), is searchable online. The night before I went in, I was able to browse the entire store from my hotel room. I arrived with a list, which the shopkeeper was able to pull together and I ended up bringing home a range of titles I'd never see in a shop in the US. I wish they had more newer bands, but you can't have everything. The employee was really nice and helped out a bit. He was very accomadating of me just walking walking around looking at stuff for about a half hour before making a purchase. Fun record store that I would go back to when I'm in Rome again.
