Diane Sushi was actually the first Sushi take out place I went to in Melbourne so it kind of holds a bit of the old sentimental for me, reminding me of my back packing days where good value yummy food was the way to go. To be honest not a lot has changed.
Diane Sushi sells mainly large sushi rolls in a range of flavours including tuna, beef, prawn, vegetarian, pork and duck. They offer both white and brown rice options.
The rolls themselves are good. There is a good meat or veg to rice ratio which is important in a sushi roll. They also have daily specials of $1.50 a roll (rolls are usually around $2), which they alternate each day. The only thing I will say is the brown rice rolls are not so nice at the very end of the day as they tend to fall apart a little bit, however I have noticed the same thing everywhere.
The shop itself is slightly tucked away on near the corner of Lonsdale St and Swanston St, and this coupled with the fact that it's just a little shop front makes it quite easy to miss. Make sure you keep an eye out for it, because for a quick grab sushi place, Diane Sushi is worth a look in. Rolls are cheap and pretty bloomin tasty. read more
