The Most (only) authentic Mexican food in Windsor. This is literally just a regular burrito. Very reasonably priced. It's the size of my forearm and pretty heavy. They didn't charge for salsa which everyone loves to do now days. Anyways enough seating. They have a bar, Fast service, friendly staff, nice ambiance and delicious foodssss! Always our go to spot!

This was the worst breakfast burrito I've ever had. bacon was completely soggy, no eggs and terrible potatoes

This was the worst breakfast burrito I've ever had. I specifically asked the guy if the bacon would be crispy--he assured me it would be, but when I finally got my order 20 minutes later, the bacon was completely soggy and barely cooked. There were hardly any eggs, the potatoes were undercooked, and there was just a huge block of cheese slapped in there. Total waste of money--avoid this place at all costs!

I've been ordering take out from this restaurant for a while now! I always order the same thing; the pozole. Every time I order it, it's DELICIOUS. There's so much flavor and the portion is pretty size able. The toppings they include are always fresh! As well as the chips and salsa they include. So so good. Highly recommend. It's one of the only restaurants that I've been able to find that has pozole for take out and so far they have never disappointed!

Stumbled on this tiny little neighborhood Mexican restaurant in Windsor, kind of on the outskirts. A fantastic find! Small hole in the wall surprise! I had 2 fish tacos and to shrimp tacos, they both had a delicious graded Mexican cheese on top, big chunks of avocado, ripe tomatoes and lettuce' very fresh tasting. Big plump juicy yummy shrimp, and served with tortilla chips refried beans and tamatio sauce' I love finding these places!

Hand made tortillas with Al pastor. Better then expected

Kind of a hole in the wall. Down the street from our hotel. It was very quaint inside, spacious with plenty of seating. We were the first for lunch. I had tacos and he had enchiladas. Mine were overflowing with meat. Delicious. I would order them again. The enchiladas was good, but very different then expected. The chicken was on the outside. A nice butterflied piece of grilled chicken. Inside the enchiladas was not the stringy melted cheese you'd expected. It was Cotija. A white crumbly Mexican cheese. A different style then we expected. Next time we are in the area I look forward to returning. You should try this place too next time you are in the area.

Bland. And every time I order a chicken burrito I find multiple bones in them. Now I drive all the way to Healdsburg to go to El Sombrero.

I had the shrimp taco--flavorful, though a bit on the mushy side. My husband had the chile relleno, which was good, but the sauce was very spicy (a heads-up for those sensitive to heat). The service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Overall, a great experience and one we'd definitely recommend if you're in the area.

I was hoping they had mole but they didn't, which might have been too carby anyway. I was pleased to see that the menudo didn't have corn in it making it something I can have. The menudo was excellent, they don't skimp on the tripe and it tasted great, especially with the chili oil at end of the buffet. The Birria was also very good and I had to try the nopales con huevos which was okay. I wish I could have the tortillas that are made in site, my wife loved them enough to wrap a few up to take home. However had I not been writing a Yelp review I would have just had more menudo instead. It's just that good. I suppose one thing to know is about the long communal tables. In case that's a problem for anyone.

So after settling in line and realizing we were in for the long haul-my breakfast burrito craving instincts started kicking in,so I jumped on my phone and opened Yelp and saw this interesting looking spot wasn't too far away. With my spot secure in line by my buddy,I jumped in my car and headed to Taqueria California in Windsor. The shop is located in a multi tenant shopping center so parking is zero issue. Walking in I was greeted by the amazing smell of breakfast meats cooking with those beautiful Mexican spices,I knew I was in the right spot. The very friendly staff took my order of 2 breakfast burritos-I got a Bacon version and a Chorizo version-they cost $13.00 each Both came with a green and red sauce on the side and also a complimentary small bag of chips. I ended up trying a little bit of the bacon burrito, since it was my friends,it was pretty good and one can never go wrong with a bacon breakfast burrito-but honestly my chorizo burrito was amazing. It was perfectly seasoned-not overly greasy-and then paired with the two salsa-each bite was better than the next. The potatoes went so well with the eggs and chorizo and cheese-I enjoyed it very much. This was the perfect meal to start off what ended up being a big day of beer drinking at the brewery. In closing-if you ever find yourself in the Windsor area and are craving a breakfast burrito-I give this shop 2 major thumbs up and guarantee you will enjoy your meal from Taqueria California.

As far as Breakfast Burritos go, This was top notch. Service could not have been better or nicer. Chips and salsa both excellent; the folks in our group who'd been here before ordered the guacamole even before we sat down. I love how guacamole is slightly different in each restaurant -- this guac is super fresh and really delicious! One friend wasn't super hungry and so got the chicken tortilla soup -- just know their portions are LARGE. So soup truly is a meal in itself! Two of us got salads -- a friend got the taco salad, and I got the chicken tortilla salad. Honestly, I'd probably get the taco salad next time, but not in the tortilla -- the chicken in my salad was deep fried (I know, I'm in a Mexican place, what did I expect?) and so it kind of overpowered everything. Others got burritos, tacos -- and everyone gave approving "Moos" of enjoyment as they ate. Great drink menu, ice-cold beer. Definitely someplace I'd return to!

Better to go to one of the many other great Mexican restaurants in Windsor. While checking their…read moreonline menu, I noticed that only some of the burritos had prices listed while others did not. I called to ask why that was. The girl on the phone said it was because different meats cost different prices. She said that chicken and pork cost less than beef. I asked her what a pork "Macho Padre" Burrito costs since it was one of those that did not have a price listed. She said it was $14.99. I was very clear that this was the "big one that feeds two, right?" She agreed and said that it definitely was. Knowing this was a fairly large burrito, I double checked with her, and she was certain. Once I showed up, a guy proceeded to ring me up. He asked me if I was paying with cash or card. I asked him if there was a price difference, and he said yes. It was less expensive if I paid with cash. I chose to pay with cash and it still came up to $26. I can only imagine what it would have cost if I wanted to pay with a credit card, close to $30? I told him that the girl on the phone said it was $14.99 plus tax. His response was that was the price without meat. I explained to him that we never talked about a vegetarian burrito at all. He tried to avoid the point by reminding me that this burrito had pork in it. I responded by telling him once again that the price quote for $14.99 was with pork. He even said that he heard the conversation to be otherwise, to which I reminded him that I was actually on the other end of the conversation and that I had a better understanding of what we talked about. He argued saying that he wasn't lowering the price at all, and that it was going to be $26. I told him I wasn't going to pay that and he seemed to be OK with that as I walked out without the dinner I drove down there to pick up. Not only are they liars, but any place too embarrassed to post their actual prices for their more expensive burritos on their online menu is disreputable at best. I've never heard of a business practice like this, and hopefully I'll never see it again. Once I got home, I decided to call back, hoping to speak to the girl that gave me the false information on the phone. She did answer, but then immediately put me on hold. After holding for some time, it was obvious I was being blown off, so I hung up. I called right back and this time they let it go to voicemail. Clearly, she remembered my number and knew who I was, but was too cowardly to face what she did. There's too many respectful restaurants in the area that wouldn't do something so sleazy and unprofessional as this. Go someplace else.
