I no longer shop with people who use DHL to ship. DHL customer services is so terrible, that after 3 days and 5 phone calls they still can't deliver a package during office hours of 9-5, still can't give me accurate information about my parcel (I compared data with their 3rd party company, Loomis), and cannot call or contact me back as they repeatedly say they will. If you are a company and ship using DHL, expect to lose customers. read more

They are the worst courier. Nothing is ever delivered on time, and they're tracking system will not give you the right status of your package. I personally really dislike it when companies use them as a courier because they genuinely suck. Their representatives give you different responses which just shows how bad their tracking resources are. Very bad management, non-experienced personnel, ... I was surprised when I heard DHL doesn't deliver parcels to Postal Boxes! This is a very strange DHL policy. They told me they can deliver my parcel to a postal office since the postal office has a physical address. I changed my address. Next day, they told me they cannot deliver my parcel to the postal office!!! yesterday I provided them with my residential address. This morning I received a voice message from their office that they cannot still deliver my parcel today and that will be done tomorrow! WTF! Oh boy. I'm not generally a very negative person, but I've now had multiple bad experiences with DHL. I'll mention only the most memorable here: I ordered a package off the Internet, and it was sent from the U.S. via DHL. As it happened, I wasn't listed in my apartment building's PA system at the time (the wiring hadn't worked on my floor in years, for some reason), but I included instructions for the delivery-person to give me a call when he or she arrived, and then I would come meet them in the lobby. The package didn't show up; I checked online and found it had been marked undeliverable. I called DHL to sort things out and eventually learned that my instructions had been either lost or simply disregarded; since I was not in the PA system, DHL was unable to deliver the package. That was frustrating. But these things happen. I asked for my options, and was given two: either they could try again a week later (...just in case my apartment had mysteriously been added to the system by then, I guess?), or I could go to their warehouse and pick the parcel up myself. I couldn't trust them to get the delivery right, and at any rate, a week later wasn't going to be soon enough; I needed this parcel before the weekend. I didn't have much extra time, but it looked like I was going to be making a bit of a trip. Now, like many warehouses, DHL's is in Brampton. Now, like many Torontonians, I don't own a car and am not a great driver in the first place. So I hopped on a GO train out to Bramalea, transferred to a local bus, and then finally did some walking. I didn't get lost, but the walk was longer than I expected. Finally, 40 minutes after getting off the Mississauga regional bus, in the dark and with rain beginning to fall, I walked in the door of the DHL warehouse and explained the situation. They brought out my package and charged me $15 for the failed delivery. I find this an inexcusable way of treating customers. DHL ignored my instructions, turned back at the door of my apartment because they couldn't bring themselves to call me inside, forced me to trek out to the freakin' middle of nowhere in Brampton in the middle of a busy week, and then fined me extra because of THEIR inconvenience? Disgusted, but at least with needed parcel in hand, I left the warehouse. It was now definitely raining. I walked to a hotel next door and asked them to call a taxi for me, because there was no way I was walking 40 minutes in the rain just to wait for a bus to eventually get back to the GO station. The hotel staff were all too happy to oblige, and even though I wasn't even staying there and hadn't given them a penny, they insisted that I help myself to tea or coffee in the lounge off the lobby. What a contrast to the customer service I'd just received at the hands of the hotel's neighbours! Anyway, the taxi arrived promptly; I finished my tea on the way to the GO station, slept on the bus back, and got home around 1 AM. Shortly thereafter, the hotel received a thank-you card from me. Extremely slow shipping speeds. Parcel was "enroute" in New Jersey from Jan 21st to Feb 9th when it was "scanned into bag". Arrived in Mississauga on Feb 12th. Still waiting for it to make it to British Columbia. Product was ordered on December 31st and here we are 6 weeks later, and it hasn't left the east coast of North America. I could have driven there and back in less time to pick it up, and still been able to abide by a 2 week quarantine on either side of the US/Canada border. read more

DHL delivered to the wrong house in my neighbourhood. I was at home when I received the email that the package had been delivered. It had not been, so I walked around the block and asked a few neighbours, looking for the coloured door seen in the email's photograph to find my package. Recommend to stick with amazon or well.ca for items from outside Canada. If have to use DHL, keep choice of a signature for delivery of the item so that they cant deliver to wrong house. I originally selected "no signature" as usually I'm not home. Thinking the delivery person needs an updated eye glass prescription, or they just don't care to double check they have the right address. read more

Initial Service - 1 out of 5 Response Rate From Leadership - 5 out of 5 Overall - 3 out of 5 (FINAL UPDATE - I am a stickler for customer service and the fact that someone in a leadership function called me tonight to explain the situation was most appreciated - For that I am moving this ranking to a 4 out of 5) We had issues receiving the package and were told to wait for a delivery on three days where the package never came. Finally, I was able to reach out to someone in a leadership position and they were very receptive and the next day we were contacted twice and our delivery arrived in the afternoon. I can tell that the DHL leadership team cares about their service due to the quick response, so I have decided that I will give them another try in the future when I need express delivery. Daughter ordered a $40 dress. Shipping from New Zealand was $43.00. Then DHL charges another $40 for customs brokerage. I know that all courier companies are the same and I never buy anything from online sellers that don't ship via regular post. However, daughter doesn't know the ins and outs. Bottom line, never, ever buy anything from anyone who uses DHL. There is no way customs brokerage fees for a $40 item should be anywhere near $40. Total rip off. read more

DHL has the most appalling costumer service. Initially there was an attempted delivery made of my package on Dec. 28th. It is now Jan. 20th, and I have been trying for 3 weeks to have my package redelivered. I have probably spoken with 10 different people, all who have told me different things about my next course of action. I'm beyond frustrated. My waybill number will not work to reschedule online, so I am at the mercy of their 24-business hour response time (which is a joke because I sometimes have had to wait almost a week for a response). So far the worst shipping company in Canada as I know. We have been trying to avoid using them since the very beginning because we had issues with almost every single shipment that they delivered. Wrong invoice total, waiting for days without getting the package, customer service telling lies... just everything you can think of. Their internal system is horribly disconnected with each other. For the same issue I have to repeat myself again and again to different departments of theirs. DHL Came when nobody was home which is no problem, but when i tried to track down the package with the number provided with the door slip, it only tells me that the package is at "one of the facility" in my city. After the second attempt it says to pickup or reschedule, so i went to the website and had to make an account to unlock the option to reschedule only to be presented with no such option. So I had to call and go through a labyrinth of robots until I can speak with a human, she was great I might add but for only for her to tell me that my package has been loaded onto a truck for delivery. At this point my package has been on hold for six days. Advice for DHL -Don't make people create an account that doesn't do anything, but gather my information - Nobody likes automated messages on phones they frustrate people and are demeaning -The website is just awful, maybe by design, but I have tracked packages in country's with different alphabets with far more precision then what is offered - Be accurate with information, The system provided to customers is appallingly vague and convoluted read more

I've been hung up on by technical support person who would not transfer my call, transferred by customer service to the same over complicated telephone menu rather than a person. TERRIBLE! I live in an apartment and they put on the tracking that they cant deliver because it had no buzz number. They had not called and I had to check this on my own after the delivery was late. My name is directly on the selector directly in the main entrance. Then they create another notification that says they can not send because of the price of customs and want me to pick it up. What even? I call them to only hear them say excuses as I am going back and forth workers. They tell me that my package need 80$ even though its worth less than 200$! I paid for express delivery and were advised to have it delivered to a pickup site. The pickup site refused to accept the delivery because my name was shortened on the parcel, I never had this problem before or even knew it's a thing since there's no problem in my past orders with other delivery companies. Now Im gonna get my parcel past the date that I need it for, if I hadn't listened to the advisor, I would have the parcel by now. It defeats the whole purpose of having express delivery and now my fee money went to waste. I have never once had a positive experience with DHL. This most recent time, I had my belongings in Germany when I lived there, and when I tried to move back they decided that they arbitrarily could not send them overseas. When pressed for details they just gave vague reasoning, like they couldn't send those items overseas (mostly personal effects like pillows, no laptops or batteries or anything). One employee even laughed in my face and said to his coworker in front of us, "this guy thinks he can send _this_ overseas!". Yeah, my bad, my teleporter that I used _to get it all here from Canada originally_ must have broken. That was 2 years ago. I've been tirelessly working with my ex-roommate to have my belongings shipped to me ever since, but DHL has made it impossible. Finally, we were recently able to get it shipped to Spain where my girlfriend is from, and had her family send it to me -- overseas, if you'll believe it! We used a service called mybaggage which had great reviews and promised overnight delivery. The next day, yesterday, we got an update: my packages had been sent with DHL, to whom the sending was outsourced. Had I known DHL would be the outsourcing company, I absolutely would not have used the service. But I did not know and now pay the consequences. The package did not arrive on time, which was absolutely no surprise with DHL. This morning at 8:30, however, it was cleared from the processing plant in my area. A day late is ok, but annoying, and I planned to call DHL about it when it arrived, as I paid extra for overnight delivery. Around noon, my package got a warning: ON HOLD. No further information. So I went on the messaging chat on the site and explained the issue. They looked into it, but it was taking forever so I called in the meantime. While I was speaking to the agent on the phone, the one on the chat told me she put out an urgent request for the package and that it would arrive today. I thanked her but decided to stay on the line just in case. I went through the same song and dance with the agent on the line and she did the same thing, assuring me it would arrive by 9pm tonight. I checked the website and sure enough, the delivery date had been updated to say it would arrive by tonight. Around 7pm I was getting a bit anxious, and decided to check the website again. I noticed that there were no further notices, and that the ON HOLD status was still emblazoned in red. So I called back and the woman on the line told me she'd look into it. She put me on hold, and 10 minutes later the call abruptly ended. I was extremely upset with this treatment and called back, this time speaking to another agent, and explained the entire situation. She looked into it and informed me that the issue was that the two packages had gone out with different drivers and since they were unable to coordinate, I wasn't able to receive them today. At the time of calling, it was too late to have them delivered tonight and they would have to come Monday. I submitted a complaint and was told that I'd be contacted on Monday. If I don't hear from them by 10am I will call back because this is unacceptable. Overnight does not mean "5 days", and I paid for overnight delivery. Beyond this, I was blatantly lied to by two agents who guaranteed me that it would arrive by this evening (which, I reiterate, is already a day late) and who even updated the delivery date to convince me that it was taken care of -- all evidence I had pointed to the fact that the situation was under control. Then I was hung up on, and finally I learned that my package simply wouldn't be arriving anywhere close to on time because of the sheer incompetence of DHL. I will be fighting to receive my entire fee back, as I paid for a service which I did not receive, and then when trying to rectify their mistakes, was treated abysmally by customer service. I came here to leave a review, and it seems everyone has beaten me to it, as every site I could see had DHL rated between 1 and 2 stars. I'd honestly give them zero if I could. I was supposed to receive a package today that is small enough to fit in the mailbox. They came to deliver it and left a slip on the door and I didn't realize until I got a text saying they tried to deliver it. I filled out a whole form a while ago so they could leave it without a signature. They also said "no one was home" but me and 3 other people are all home and they just didn't bother to knock or ring the doorbell. *IF I COULD CHOOSE 0/5 STARS, I WOULD!* I've never encountered a company that reeks just as much as DHL. Their stank is like an abrupt slap to the face, leaving a sting which'll last for days! DHL spits out blatant lie after blatant lie, totally passive with how obvious their lies are. A package I was to have delivered to me 2 months ago, did not arrive at my house. 2 times, I received notification stating, "Delivery attempted. Recipient not home." In an attempt to rectify this unusual issue, I organized for DHL to instead send the package to a pickup location. After awhile, I started getting emails stating that again "Delivery attempted. Recipient not home". Each email is timestamped, and they supply you with a time stamp of which this apparent "attempted delivery" took place at. Each "attempted delivery" happened during business hours. This pickup location WAS OPEN! I also went to the pickup location 3 times, and they informed me that DHL had NEVER ACTUALLY ATTEMPTED TO DELIVERY A PARCEL! DHL send me emails, lying about an "attempted delivery" for an entire week. 7 days! When attempting at speaking with DHL customer service, that goes nowhere as well. I verified that my package was being sent to the right address (it was), and DHL representatives simply wanted to "mark the delivery as urgent". Which I let them do the first 2 times DHL lied. which, Obviously went nowhere. I then started expressing how I would not accept this, and that I wanted to speak with management. This again, just couldn't seem to happen. I was never able to once reach a supervisor or manager. Always getting the run-of-the-mill. One representative finally put my situation through to another level of customer care (or so she said), stating that I would be contacted within 2 hours. It's been approximately 60 hours since then - no contact. When asked, "where is my package," I receive, "oh, it's on the truck", as though that's a rational response. In THEORY it's on the truck, and has been for awhile now. And for DHL representatives to express, "oh, we'll have your package re-sent," really detaches from the point that it was never sent to begin with. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DHL - TAKE THE REVIEWS YOU SEE HERE VERY SERIOUSLY! It all may appear dramatic, but I assure you through experience... these reviews are unfortunately not dramatic. They're real. DHL has left a bright red, throbbingly painful hand print on the side of my face. Companies ought not to abuse their clients. Worst delivery service I have ever experienced. Received an award from work that was unfortunately shipped using DHL. Driver said they couldn't locate my address and "customer service" was asking me to google my own address to see if it would come up on maps.... once the address was confirmed to be in fact real, the package has still not arrived for over a week. customer service won't respond to my emails and keep providing "updates" saying they will follow up in another few days. On Thursday June 27th, 2019 I used DHL to ship cakes from my business to Florida from Canada. This was for my mother's 60th birthday for Saturday evening. I ensured that the packages were well secured and on ice for shipping. I paid DHL $238.86 for 1 day delivery (because they were cakes). On Friday, I called to check the status of the delivery (which should have been in Florida) only to find out that my cakes were in Brampton, ON!!!!!! They never called me to inform me that they hadn't even shipped it out!! (They took my money very quickly though). I spoke with a manager Arnold that told me that he'd have my cakes shipped out Friday evening and it would reach Ohio early Saturday morning, and in FL for around 10 am. The packages were shipped out. When I called Cincinnati, OH Saturday morning, they told me that they don't ship on weekends and my cakes will not arrive until TUESDAY!!! Well... they delivered the cakes by Monday COMPLETELY DESTROYED!!!! I am absolutely devastated!!!!!! Do yourself a favour...NEVER EVER USE DHL!!! Pay the extra money and go with FedEx or Purolator! These couriers threw my cakes around even with it labelled with fragile signs everywhere. They ruined my mother's birthday and destroyed all the efforts that I put into making her cakes. I don't even know where to start with this crappy delivery company. So I ordered my items from a shopping site rosewholesale.com. The site decided to send it through DHL. Bad idea. They only come in the MIDDLE OF WORKING HOURS! I work in an elementary school and go to college so I'm not home. Not only they came 10 to 12am they never bothered to even call me that at least they were trying to deliver my package. I was able to resolve the problem and get them to deliver my package later. Well great news then...not really. That's right they did again just like the first time. Again the company sent it through DHL and this time beyond worse!!! They came twice without absolutely no notification prior to and after the delivery. NONE! I found out with my tracking number the company gave me and went to their site (absolute trash!) to find out what was going on. They called me and the CSR was rude and had no manners UNBELIEVABLE! I got a call that they were coming today in which I was pleased and the delivery person told me they were in the lobby waiting. Mind you I live in a building on the last floor. Came downstairs and he was gone! Called back and they told me that they only wait 2 mins. This is RIDICULOUS!!!! Consistently terrible service. Recently they tried to deliver 1 out of 2 packages in a shipment I was expecting. When I told the driver he was missing a package, he said he would bring them both back tomorrow. Then he marked my shipment as "refused" and sent it back to the UK. When I called customer service, they said if I paid the duties online, then I could reschedule. I did that right away and then still couldn't reschedule. EMS (DHL) are using the "PROHIBITED ITEMS" card often now. They will open packages even those that are sent within the European Union or even within the same country. They use "prohibited items" card to keep your contents. Their "prohibited "items" list is now listing everything including "Other Manufactured Goods" which can be applied to anything, even cellphones and appliances, to paper goods and even cash! Their confidence trick scheme is like this: they email you that they found "prohibited items" in your envelope or parcel and they tell you you must fly to a remote warehouse to pick the shipment up or they will discard the contents. read more

Very poor service and not on time. I have order few thing, was on hold for customer duties charges. After paid owing amount, DHL advise me they will deliver next day. Waited for next no body came to my place and when I receive email saying nobody at home (Which is lie), as I am working from home since pandemic. Nobody buzz my place, no one called me. Next day I called DHL customer service advise me it will be deliver today. Waited whole day by the end of day called DHL they advise me due to Friday it will be deliver next business day. My shipment is stuck with DHL and no specific answer. I paid for express service, I would not go with DHL in future very bad experience. read more

I will NEVER use this delivery service again lesson learned! From the call centre, notifications, organization, connivence. Awful service. Hardly picks up on time being days late with heavy packages. 9/10 times they don't send a unit that can carry the weight requested, this takes days to weeks to sort out.
