1st February 2025 I ordered my sofa. Almost 4 months of waiting. My second purchase from DFS this year!
We were forced to pay £129 delivery for a sofa that cost almost £2000. Barker & Stonehouse don't charge delivery, take a leaf.
Yesterday, excited to finally receive our brand new sofa, the £129 delivery men thought it would be a good idea to be lazy, and instead of completing a two man lift, they single man roll our £1799 up our driveway, video footage available.
Delivery men then decide to shimmy the sofa out of the box onto the drive. Not sure if this is where the damage was caused. Delivery men then take sofa into our hallway. As they can't be bothered to lift it again, they decide to roll the sofa again out of the box along my hard tiled floor. Again, I can not confirm if this is where the damage was caused.
Delivery men then take the second section of sofa out of the box and onto the drive. They then proceed to pick it up and drop it on my door frame. Once assembled in location in the house, the drawer to the arm of the chair is clearly damaged or misaligned as it does not close properly, so the delivery driver proceeds to slam the drawer several times forcing it in its position. All of this was carried out in front my 15 year old son. I work away and could not be present for this absolute shambolic display of service from the DFS appointed delivery company. Otherwise, it would have been rejected at the door and the men sent away!
The sofa is damaged in several areas, which include, stretched stitching, scuffed leather on corners and a damaged/faulty drawer within the arm which also has scuffed leather.
This level of service is disgraceful. The men are incompetent. And I now have to endure the DFS complaints procedure having waited 4 months for a sofa. A family member warned me against DFS having waited in excess of 9 months to have their damaged sofa repaired. I wish I had listened. I will never use this company again.
These are not cheap items. These are large, important purchases for families, and to receive this type of service is nothing short of disgraceful. I wouldn't dream of treating someone else's property this way. read more
